The Race for Life team

Hi ladies, thought I would start a race for life team for all of us doing the race this year, be it walking jogging running or sprinting!!

I have never raced any race before, but have seen hubby do various 10k, half marathon and marathons. I always very secretly wished it was me, and it's only now my weight is on its way down, and my fitness is on its way up I feel ready for it!

The reason I have chosen this race is that I have 2 cousins who are sisters and both going through treatment at the moment for breast cancer, their mum and my nan had it, so it's likely to be genetic, and therefore I may have the gene too. They are both doing well but we are unsure of the long term consequences, and we have 5 female children between us :(

Anyway, I am up to about 1.5 miles now and continuing on my quest! I would love to be able to run it in my bra but we shall see how the weight loss goes!

Saz xxxxx

Hiya!

Im doing my first Race for Life this summer too! Newcastle 5k. I've been doing the C25K Programme though not as much lately :( Do boot camp 3 times per week, just not enough days in the week. Can just about run for 30 mins non-stop atm, not measured distance yet! x

hey i'm doing the race for life this year too with a few ladies from group planning to start training next week.

I'm doing for the first time this year :D

At 24 stone, it just wasnt possible but down to 18:7 so think i'll be ok by july.

I'm doing it in Colchester and i'm getting ready with 3 aqua aerobics classes and gym twice a week.I have also just purchased a treadmill for the bedroom!

I will be running my 4th Race for Life at Guildford.

Would love to do a 10k one but no local ones. Usually takes me just under 40 mins but hoping to knock at least 10 mins off that.
Running up to 8k a week now on the road and at the gym twice a week.
But before that in June next week I'm doing the Sports Reflief mile, although I am doing 6 miles. Good training.

Been busy with work sorry! I've always fancied boot camp but a) it seems expensive and b) I'm worried I wouldn't keep up! I can ran for about 15 mins without stopping but in working hard on it.

Sounds like you will do it no problem! You will feel great after all that running!

I'm managing to get out about three times a week for a few miles and doing 30 day shred xxx

Hey :)

It is expensive but it's great, i've been going just over a month (i think) and only missed 1 which was when i first hurt my knee. Even though it still wasn't right i kept going and he gave me different things to do so i didn't do any more damage and it's fine now! I love it..fitness have improved so much x

I'm doing my first race for life this year!!! 24th June in Billericay, Essex. I am walking it this year, but you never know, next year i might run it!!!!
Good luck everyone xx

started training for this this week using the couch to 5k podcast which is really good and very motivational really enjoying my runs with this

Well how did everybody do??

Completed mine on Sunday, was aiming for close to 30 mins (as laast year did it in 38mins) having lost 3 stone since my last run thought that was a good time to aim for.

Well completed it in 32mins, also ran for a whole 2 1/2 Km before I needed to slow down to a good walk but only for about 200m then got back on running.
Did it with my friend Paula so that helped spur me on.

Well done to all who completed
