Battling the Baby weight - postnatal Slimming World team

Hello - are there any other new mums out there who would like to discuss Slimming World?

I joined a group just over a week ago and was amazed to have a 5lb loss in my first week. I have another 2st and 5 lb to go though and I sure it will get harder.

I had my third baby 6 weeks ago by caesarian - and she is lovely! Thinking I should leave the body magic for a bit longer though - just a little bit of walking at the moment.

I did Slimming World last year and lost just over a stone but got pregnant before I got to target and didn't stay on to group due to lack of motivation and morning sickness.

Love the diet though - new discoveries this week - muller light with chocolate sprinkles and cherry underlay - 1 1/2 syns and totally worth it, Paprika pork from this month's magazine - free and yummy, and I am about to try smash pizza - not sure how that will turn out but worth a try especially with the generous health extra A allowance for breast feeding!

I am a complete newbie here - this is my first post so hello everyone generally as well

It would be lovely to get a little gang together on minimins and support each other through to target sometime before Christmas maybe.....

Welcome, Nettee! Congratulations on the birth of your baby daughter, and Well Done...5lbs off is a fabulous start!!

I'm a newbie too. My second little boy is almost 7 weeks old (where does the time go!!! ). I have a lot of weight to lose, which accumulated over my two pregnancies and, like you, have had success with SW before, so here I go again! I'm not attending a group though as not a financial option at the moment. Hoping this site will help keep me on the wagon!

3lbs off so far in two weeks. Enjoying the additional hex breastfeeding allows :). I also LOVE the cherry choc mullerlight...(it's sweet cravings I battle with!).

Really hoping to crack my weight loss this time (I have yo-yo'ed for last 5 years). My problem is I see how much weight I have to lose ahead of me, feel like it's impossible & throw the towel in. It seems like such a momentous task! So, just trying to take it one step at a time without being a defeatist!!

Let me know what the smash pizza is like!

Hello Mrs Boo, congratulations on the birth of your son and your first 3 lb off. Great to see a post on the thread. I never lost all the weight I put on after my second pregnancy even though it was over three years before I took the plunge again! It will all be different this time though.

I am slightly nervous that trying to lose weight will not be good for breastfeeding in terms of milk supply but no problems so far and it is such a healthy diet it has to have it advantages for feeding as well.

I have yo yoed with my weight too over the years - I think the biggest challenge will be staying on target once I get there. Definately good to have small targets on the way - I would like to work out how to download slimming world acheivement stickers to my signature on here (for when I earn one) - do you have any ideas about that?

smash pizza ingredients are all set to go but probably won't try it till after the weekend now - two parties to go to so really hoping not to fall too badly off the wagon.

I have no idea how to download the stickers...it took me ages to set up my weight loss ticker!!
I was nervous about milk supply too, but I'm sure my baby is better off now considering all the convenient rubbish I was shoveling in a few weeks ago!
Has your consultant recommended a daily amount of water/fluids whilst breastfeeding?

Aha I have found the stickers on a sticky on the off topic slimming world sub forum for copying and pasting. Can't wait to earn one now!

no advice re fluids from the consultant nor actually much specific advice at all nor even the book they are meant to give out. I have got all my info from the web site and it doesn't really mention fluids. I have found generally that I want to drink more though and just going with that.

I have been eating lots of flavoured Philadelphia as hea but have just found put on here that I can't do that. Still only 2 syns for 30g so I am sure I can use the rest up gradually, it is tasty.

Stuck to plan ok today. Thinking of disabling my digital scales as I am sure they are doing me more harm than good.

Oh dear, it seems I can resist anything but temptation. Party last night. I made a free Spanish omelette to take along. There were vegetable sticks and pieces of ham to eat. Fizzy water to drink. But I went totally off plan and grazed on French bread and crisps and eclairs all evening. Drank wine and coke and j2o. Never mind, it was only one evening and I can be back to 100% today.

Perhaps it was good for my milk supply!

How are you getting on over the weekend?

I'm sure one night won't have made too much difference. I had a terrible weekend! Weighed in on saturday and maintained...not idea but okay. Didn't do the food shop so didn't stick to SW planned meals either. Also, day out with the family yesterday led to a burger and chips!!! :( Consequently hunting out Super Free foods and doing housework at top speed in the vain attempt to salvage my week!

Hi both congrats on your babies. I joined slimming world last year lost just over a stone and then fell pregnant with my first child, stopped going to meetings as i just wanted to concentrate on enjoying my pregnancy so i left. i didnt do to bad during pregnancy i put on 1st 8lbs, i started off breastfeeding and lost all my pregnancy weight but have since started formula feeding and have put on 10lbs so im back on sw as i dont want to be going back to the size i was pre-pregnancy. My little girl is now 9 weeks old and i love her loads, now just gotta fit food optimising inaround being a mum x

Congratulations Sezabell on your baby girl. I think it is easier to do the food optimising when I don't have to go to work but on the other hand all the cooking from scratch with a baby is tricky when they are hungry. Sounds like you did amazingly well with preg weight gain. I put 3 stone on during the pregnancy and lost a stone of that in the immediate few days/ weeks.

Official weigh in today and only 1 lb off but I had had a couple of bad days so not too bad. Also think that last weeks loss was somehow a bit more than was real ( maybe due to different clothes?) so I am happy with the 6lb total so far.

Still haven't got round to the smash pizza - maybe tomorrow's mission. Have been trying ww dessert recipe yogurts this week and they are actually quite nice if a bit artificial. Probably the nicest thing I have eaten this week on plan is some jersey royal potatoes - really really good and I fried some in fry light the next day - even better

MrsBoo you are right about one night not ruining things - it is getting back on track that counts. I have had lunch out - steak and kidney pie and roast potatoes, but at least I drank water, chose plain carrots and didn't have pudding which is better than if I hadn't been on the diet. Now what to have for supper........

I have now taken that batteries out of my digital scales, still got some analogue ones for if I am desperate but they are a bit hard to see so only tell me to within 2 pounds or so. Hopefully I will focus more on having good on plan days rather than 1/4 pound up or down.

Hello Sezabell...congratulations on birth of your little girl!!! I too am trying to juggle the diet around mummy jobs. I know planning ahead works best for me, but easier said than done isn't it.

Nettee, well done for dropping a pound. You're doing so well!!

Not going so great for me...full of cold (as is everyone in my house!). Can't take much for it as it will go into my milk so have been drinking loads of honey & lemon. God knows how many syns I've had!!! Husband also cooked dinner last night (I minor miracle) which was not on plan. However, feeling bit better today so putting my halo back on, and forcefully holding it in place!

Oh dear Mrs Boo - sorry you are not well - it is hard to be motivated when you feel under the weather.

I tried the smash pizza for lunch and can report that it was ok. Quite a nice change from my usual slimming world lunch, it was substantial and did taste of pizza really - but the base was a bit wierd, crispy and heavy. To be honest I think it would be nicer to make little pizzas on halves of baked potato maybe. Anyway it was worth a try and I might even do it again one day. I have been plotting to use up the mozzerella by having it with cherry tomatoes and balsamic vinegar - and possibly even use a tablespoon of oil as a healthy B (can't believe you can do that though but it is there in black and white in the book).

first day without my scales today and feeling a bit at sea without them. I am sure I will get used to it - just need to tick off as many 100% days as possible instead.

Meanwhile Emily has gained 6 ounces in a week which i am assuming is a good amount so hooray for that!

That is a great gain for your little one and proves your milk supply isn't reducing, so even better.
My scales are looming in the corner of my bathroom but I'm the opposite at the minute...dreading getting on them!! But when I've been really good it is hard to resist hopping on for a peek.
I tried syn free cheese scones (made with smash) and they are nice. I made them as part of a cooked breakfast, replacing the bread element, and surprisingly enjoyed them! Probably not as tasty as a fried slice, but "nothing tastes as good as being slim feels" as I keep reminding myself...I might have to paint that across my fridge !!

syn free chees scones sound good - where did you find the recipe?

I am a bit fed up as not a great sw day. Only 18 syns but not 1/3 super free and ready meal for supper.

Never Mind - onwards and upwards tomorrow.

hope you are all doing better

Well I had 3 good days from Sunday and weighed in with 1 1/2 pounds off today and got my half stone award - hooray! I did imagine I would be loosing quicker and averaging 2 lb a week but I suspect the extras for feeding and the feeding itself are holding me back a bit and I am trying to be sensible and steady loss is good. I did have two bad (ish) days last week though so wonder what I could acheive with a 100% on plan week. Not sure if this is the week though as I am off to the Devon county show and out on Saturday night. Oh well - if it comes off slowly it is more likely to stay off. Little one still gaining nicely too so that is good news. oh and I get to add a sticker to my signature - fab!
