Christmas Choccie Challenge!

Hi everyone!

I was just pondering how many choccie sweets I am likely to consume from now til 1st Jan, from all the tins of Celebrations, boxes of Roses etc that will cross my path. I am not a huge choccie eater normally, but could absent-mindedly plough through a pile of Roses in front of the tv.

So, I've decided to challenge myself to not have any. Hear me out...

1) I will allow myself a chocolcate based dessert after my dinner

2) I won't have any from a tin/box/individually wrapped container... so basically if it's not at dinner time I am not eating it.

From past experience, I know that having an allowance of chocolate within my daily syns just won't cut it (I'm an all or nothing girl), so I'm actually happier to avoid them.

To stick to it, I'm challenging myself to post an update here every day or so.

I love this!

I've set myself a similar challenge, no individually wrapped sweeties or anything and certainly nothing I don't know the syn value of.

I've got my hot chocolates or little popping candy freddo bars (less syns than normal ones) for if I want a chocolate fix, like I would any other time of the year.

Hoping to stay totally on track, this is my first SW christmas and I dont want to waste all of the effort I've put in so far.x.x.

Day 1 11.12.13 DONE :party0049:

Today I was offered some Roses, and now i've decided not to have them I wasn't bothered. Easier to say no I think, when you don't have to think about it

And so it begins! A lot of social stuff over the next 2 weeks, before I even get near my Christmas dinner ;)

Last night I avoided Roses and home made rocky road.

Tonight I've dinner in my cousin's, not sure what is on the menu, but hopefully no sweets!

Well done on your challenge hope it works! I am lucky that we don't have any around the house, my kiddies are grown up and husband doesn't like sweets anyway but unfortunately we always get given some, best think is to offer them to every one else on the big day then get them to take them home with them! Then they are out of harms way!

Thanks Polyanna- funnily enough the stuff in my own house doesn't really bother me, I know it's there but I've loads of other free food in too. It's more when I am out and about, visiting family etc, that the ninja chocolate makes an appearance!

Last night, didn't have any dessert or chocolate biscuits on offer at my cousin's. Had some wine though! But wine doesn't count ;)

Friday and Saturday, chocolate free, although can't say the same for vino and crisps! Have a huge box of Celebrations here, and still not pushed about having any of them. If I could show the same will power over crisps I'd be flying ;)

Last night I was at my dad's, and on offer were M&S chocolate biscuits- the nice ones with each biccie foil-wrapped. Stuck to my coffee and didn't have any.

Not really bothered that I am off chocolate, but it's making me realise how much of it I'd have eaten!

I managed to make it through a whole kids christmas party only eating 2 hula hoops that my son demanded I had hehe

They were salt and vinegar, if they'd been ready salted I wold've been in trouble haha. I resisted the mini jammy dodgers, chocolates and cakes so I was well proud.

Challenge update!
I didn't have any chocolates or bars at all over Christmas. Apart from one chocolate biscuit, I've had no chocolate at all. Very happy, think I'll continue on for January.

:happy096:

I didnt have any sweets or chocolates, I had half a tree decoration that my daughter literally stuffed in my mouth and a lavender shortbread biscuit that my cousin made especially for me and I have been dying to try it for aaaaages.

I have a new found love for alpen light bars and scan bran cakes too haha

Quite proud, not going to say Ill keep it up completely throughout january but it will definitely make me think twice before reaching for the sweetie tin.

it really does! I couldnt believe it. This is the first christmas and new year in ages I havent gotten really ill with cold or flu or felt like rubbish and I put it down to eating better food.

I did have some truffles today, but they were SW and about 1/4 the amount of syns! I took them for our family new year dinner to have with coffee after, and only had 3 or 4 (there was 2 different flavours) yummy and practically guilt free, especially when looking at the alternative.x.

I got LOADS of chocolate and sweets for Christmas and we got a few boxes of Celebrations, Heroes, etc. for the family to share, so I can totally understand where you're coming from. A giant thorntons chocolate reindeer, thorntons snowman selection box, huge bar of galaxy chocolate, reeses peanut butter snowman, tube of galaxy minstrels, bag of cadbury wishes, fizzy laces, jelly beans...are just a little selection of what I got!!

My take on the choccie challenge is slightly different to yours. I am not banning myself from eating anything, otherwise I know I'd feel deprived. All I am focusing on is making sure I count every little bit of chocolate I eat and Syn it accurately. It's far too easy to walk past the tub of Celebrations and stick your hand in without even thinking about it, which is exactly what I'd have done on previous years. As well as scoffing pretty much all of my goodies in one go! Not this year though.

Well done, you're doing great. Long may it continue!
