    Hiya girls,

Bottom very firmly placed back on the wagon.

Mum here today helping me garden. She's 79 but much fitter than me and my knees are playing up so I'm gardening from a chair and reaching where I can and she's on hands and knees. Still, tis exercise of sorts... mainly my tongue as I moan about the weeds we inherited when we moved here earlier this year.

    My food for today is:

    Quorn red leicester/onion sausage 1syn
    eggs
    tomatoes
    FF cherry yogurt

Cajun chicken with wedges (July SW mag) HXB
    salad

Brie with salad on slice whlm bread
    balsamic dressing HXA + HXB

    FF activia yogurt
    Banana
    Iced coffee HXA

    = 2 HXA's + 2 HXB's + 1 syn

    100/105 syns

Feeling the fire back in my belly again, Jackie so lets hope I'm on my way again.

Back to work, so mum doesn't show me up but later I'll be back and dive in the dairies to see how everyones doing.

BTW I cheated with the Cajun chicken and used Anthony W Thompson's steak seasoning grinder. Was totally yum and mum very impressed.

Looking good well done for getting your behind straight back on that wagon. Glad I saved you a seat now

Don't be too hard on yourself with syns. i know you are cutting back as you were off plan a little but being too hard on yourself can be a recipe for disaster. better to have a few and manage to stick to plan

    Evening

My thinking regarding syns is that today I had lots of company. Mum during day and tonight a lovely friend had arranged to come round for evening. Rightly or wrongly I know that I don't hanker for food on these type of days.

Now tomorrow I'm all alone with the fridge.I may have to factor this in syn-wise.
I will have DS here but he's no match for a mum with the munchies who's menopausal.

Tactics needed. Discovered the Aug SW mags hits the shop tomorrow. Shall keep busy till I can get DH to run me to the shops after work and get it , that way Friday is safe till he gets in as alone again. I'll spend it swotting up on new recipes.

Also, loving my cooked breakfasts as I feel spoilt so will have another tomorrow. After years of no table to eat up I have one now so every meal feels like an occasion as I sit by the window and watch the bird table and enjoy the flowers. Shame about the weeds, tho.

    Morning!

Totally got way laid writing up my menu plan because I got engrossed in the SW tips thread and the Latest SW finds thread.

Oh and I had to go 'honk' because I'd been 100%. Oh yes!

    So on to today:

    Quorn RL/onion sausage ~ 1 syn
    eggs
    cherry tomatoes grilled
    Activa FF blueberry yogurt

    Iced coffee ~ HXA

    Skate
    green beans
    mixed florets
    Activia FF cherry yogurt

    Pork steaks
    salad
    2x whlm bread ~ 2 xHXB
    10g butter ~ 3.5 syns

    iced coffee ~ HXA

    At 2x HXA's and 2 x HXB + 4.5 syns.

    104.5/105 syns

I'm thinking that tomorrow will have to be a green day as I've not much in. Run out of quorn sausages and not sure I'd have enough chicken for all of us for tea. hmmmm. Do have some nice corn on the cob in the freezer.

Thinking on, I could make a lovely spicy lentil soup for Fri lunch, could 'B' some chicken and mix with masses of veg to make a fried rice, I suppose.

Having said that, green days lend themselves lovely to a rice pudding as a Friday night pud as we have a 'games' night with family.. thinking its Cluedo and Buzz tomorrow. Maybe a bit of Boggle throw in as I'm getting good at that.

    How's everyone else doing? Good?

It's great reading things on here isn't it. And it keeps you out of the fridge

The only problem for me is that I want to try everything at once

I know Tilly. Some of the ideas are amazing and I'm scribbling away trying to see how I can fit it all in.

Had to edit my food today above as I felt yuck this afternoon and took to bed with a headache. DH came in from work early as ill so think we might all be going down with DS's cold.

Upshot, no one wanted dinner. Instead I health grilled my pork and had it with salad and 2 x whml bread and butter. Was lovely mind and I have a double iced coffee to look forward to as I missed it this morning.

Lovely SIL fetched me in the latest SW mag, she's quite taken with the food I've been cooking her in it so there may be an ulterior motive here, so I'm sitting in front of the fan enjoying a look.

Think they've cheated with the chicken burgers on page 63 as they seem almost identical to the thai chicken cakes last month, only soy sauce is different really. Hmmmm...

Anyway, off for a scoot run the diaries and threads.

    See you tomorrow.

    Morning to anyone around!

Feeling very bright and bushy-tailed today. Must be cos I was heartily honking a few mins ago as I was 100% again yesterday. that is such a vulgar looking smilie but expresses the mood so well!

    Today I'm going Green.

    Cinnamon french toast ~ HXB
    blackberries
forest fruits Acti yogurt (poured over)

    Brie ~ HXA
    Quorn peppers beef slices
    Branston pickle ~ 1syn
    salad
    gherkins
    whml bap ~ HXB

    Spicy Lentil soup
    didn't get as vistors arrived.

Rice pudding with lemon & nutmeg ~HXA

    So.. 2x HXA, 2x HXB + 1 syn.

    105.5/105 syns

Well I shan't go hungry by the looks of things.

Got to go search for an interesting Spicy Lentil soup recipe now!

Thanks for the lovely comments on my food girls.

Haylz, I just make it how mum did when I was a kiddie. You put 1 heaped instant coffee in a jug with some sweetner to taste. Use just enough boiling water to melt them together. Then pour in ice cold milk and add ice cubes and glass up.

I know that we're not supposed to have coffee before bedtime but I LOVE to take a glass of this up with me at night to sip while I have a bed time read. So refreshing.

Nipped back because I've found a lovely Spicy Lentil Soup on BBCGoodfood which will fit the bill nicely.

Spiced lentil soup recipe - Recipes - BBC Good Food

Will have to use a little poetic license regarding the ingredients as usual. ie chilli powder not flakes and lemon not lime. Apart from that we're good to go.
    Love making homemade soups.

The only thing to mar my happiness today is that one of offspring took my frozen rolls out of the micro last night and left them out. Not exactly what I'd call light and fresh now.

You are doing brilliantly proud of you sweetie.

Sorry to hear about your rolls. Sort of thing my lot would do. someone once said if you lightly dampen them and warm them in the oven they freshen up abit but no idea if this is true or not as don't think I ever tried it.

Have you tried Michelle's lentil and bacon soup? Its amazing. I can never make soup always tastes awful but I made this and adored it.
