Hi I'm new to this diary lark. I've been lurking on the site for a couple of months but now taking the plunge and starting a diary.

I'm a complete newbie to forums etc so if you read this please be gentle with me.

I've had weight problems all my life and really want to knock the excess on the head this time. :D

I would recommend you don't read the first few pages as I was a bit down. Well a lot down really and moaning all the time. It does get better along with mood.

Good luck to you. I'm new to all this too.

Good luck. I think we're all in the right place to support each other.

Hi :wavey:

Well done on making the decision to start a diary, I've found that it really does help :D

Can't wait to see more of your weight loss journey xx

Are you drinking enough water? I try and get at least 1.5 litres down me each day if not 2 litres :D

I find keeping the food diary really does help, plus it eggs me on to be good

Try not to let it get you down Purple Patsy. I agree with EmmyR1984 with regards to water. Even if you can't manage any breakfast you should try to have a glass of water at least.

Also, you might be doing it already but you should always try to weigh yourself at the same time of day, in the same condition. For example, I always weigh myself right after getting up on a Tuesday morning before I eat or drink anything. After all, 1 litre of fresh water weighs 1kg (2.2lbs) so you'll put on over a pound just by drinking a pint. If you weigh yourself at night can you guarantee that you've drank/eaten exactly the same amount as last week? Just for fun, try weighing yourself tomorrow morning to see how much difference there is.

Anyhoo, keep on smiling, keep your diary (might even be an idea to start a thread in the appropriate section on here) and good luck with the next week.

Thanks Kev

I do have water in the morning as I have to take a handful of meds and need to wash them down. That's partly why I don't do breakfast as I have to eat an hour before the meds or wait for 2 hours after taking them before eating. Bit of a hassle really.

I weigh in at a class so it is pretty much the same time and I try to wear the same grade of clothes (no jeans as they weigh a ton) Only prob is as you say what I've eaten or drunk during the day can be very different.

I have to confess to being a bit of a scale hopper at home too, but I'm trying to break the habit.:( Hey maybe I could count it as a step class as I hop on and off all day given a chance, or maybe it could count as yoga/pilates due to the contortions and balance tricks I sometimes try. Not a pretty thought so apologies for putting that mental image in your head.

Do you keep a separate food diary thread on here or do you just include it in your main diary. I'll have a root about to try to find out.:D

I've not been keeping a food diary but I suppose there's no reason why I can't start one.

I'll start a proper one this evening hopefully but just for an idea of what I eat, today for breakfast I had 2 slices of wholemeal bread from a 400g loaf (HEb) with approx 2 teaspoons of Flora Light (Couple of Syns), a Mullerlight and a banana washed down with a glass of water. Just now for lunch I had a sort of open omelette concoction thing which I just made up. It was 2 eggs beaten and seasoned with a little salt and pepper, poured in to a small frying pan, topped with ham, red jalapenos (I have a spicy tooth!!) and 42g of reduced fat cheddar (HEa) before finishing under a hot grill. I served it with a mixed salad with fat free vinigrette. I also had an apple and a can of Diet Coke.

That's a normal sort of day for me so far. Breakfast never really changes except for the weekends when I might spend a bit more time on breakfast and have bacon medallions or eggs. Lunch is quite often a jacket potato with tuna or chicken with sweetcorn. I normally try new recipes from the SW website for dinner. Last night I made their Lean Pasta Sauce and served it with pasta and bacon. It was absolutely lovely! I'm lucky in that I don't tend to snack. My problem before was that I ate too much of the wrong thing.

I'll do my best to start a proper food diary tonight.
