Jane's Diary
Boring title I know!

I've been a member of slimming world for nearly three weeks. So far, I love it . Lots of variety and best of all no weighing and points counting.

A bit about me: I'm 56 and have been overweight for some years. I'm very happily married with two grown up children and two gorgeous granddaughters. Last year I had a heart attack and stent and a couple of months ago I was diagnosed hypothyroid. I've eaten low fat for a few years so couldnt understand the heart attack but apparently untreated hypothyroidism raises cholesterol. Thia ryear I'm determined to sort my weight out

I've only been weighed once as last week I was away from home stopping in hotels. I must admit to getting a bit sick of chicken/steak with new potatoes and veg. No butter or sauce! I'm sure my choices will be more varied as I begin to understand the diet. Next weigh in is Wednesday in the morning.

Today I've had cereal and skimmed milk with banana. We got up late so there was no time for lunch (bad I know). Our evening meal was the beef curry out of this months mag. It was delicious and had plenty of veg in it. We then had the scan bran spicy carrot cake which I wasn't keen on. It was too moist but maybe I didn't cook it for long enough. I'll try again one day.

So that's my food today. Tomorrow might be a bit hit and miss as taking grandkids to the science museum in Manchester. X

Hi Jane, Well done in starting up a diary..it's so much easier for us to find you and see how you are getting on.

I suffer from thyroid problem... as well as lots of other things, and it does make it a bit more difficult to lose weight but not to any great degree.

Have a great day with the grandkids tomorrow and get back to your healthy eating plan a.s.a.p. ... :D

All the very best to you ... :)

What a tiring day, enjoyable but very tiring! Took granddaughters to Manchester science museum and a very good day was had by all.

For breakfast I had two weetabix with skimmed milk and a banana for breakfast plus two coffee.

I made the mistake of thinking I'd find something to eat at the museum - big mistake! By 3 this afternoon I felt faint and ended up buying a Green and Blacks mini White chocolate bar. I ate half (7.5 syns) and gave the rest to hubby and granddaughters.

For our evening meal we had Pete's Tuna, Pasta and Philadelphia bake served with salad and it was delicious. Shortly we will be eating strawberries, raspberries and 0 fat Total Greek Yog.

I weighed myself this morning and don't appear to be moving much at all. I need to stop missing lunch I think. Difficult at times!

I'm wondering if this diary should be under food rather than weight but don't know how to move it.

X

Hi Jane, just popped into your diary to say Hello :)

Good luck with SW, I'm on my second week (2nd weigh in tomorrow) and loving it so far.

I couldn't resist those scales again this morning! At last I was down :) I reckon when I get weighed tomorrow a.m. I will have lost about two pounds ( that's over two weeks though). I've not resorted to wearing my lightest clothes and taking my watch off for weigh in yet and I'm determined not to. Pity we get weighed in our clothes though

Today I've had porridge, skimmed milk and bananas.
Lunch was some fruit and. Cadburys highlights chocolate drink at two syns.
Evening meal was sw chips, two low fat sausages ( sainsburys count on us), 2 eggs and baked beans plus zero syns onion marmalade/relish.

Normally I cook a proper meal so it was nice for a change. A chip butty would have been delicious :) I'm afraid after nearly 36 years romantic meals are out of the window. Mind you hubby did get me some beautiful flowers and a lovely card.
X

I've just been to weigh in and I've gone down 3.5 lb :):)

After a week away in a hotel I'm overjoyed.

Fingers crossed for a bit more next week to make my first 7 lb x

Granddaughters are here. I've cooked Carbonara out of last months slimming world magazine and they wolfed it down. For desert they had strawberries and Total 0% fat Greek yogurt. I've also made leek and potato soup, mainly because the leeks needed using. I'll stick that in the fridge and have some tomorrow.

After sw today I made magic pancakes for a late breakfast/early lunch. I'm not too sure about the taste of these. I think my mind was expecting pancake and my taste buds got something else

I plan on making he syn free lemon curd later in the week with 1/2 syn roulades type cake.

X

Well done Jane, that's a fab loss! :D

I'm liking the sounds of strawberries and greek yoghurt, mmmm! :D

Thanks blondegem. I must pop over to your diary to see how you are doing :)

Girls have gone home now and peace reigns x

What a busy day! Grabbed two Alpen lights for breakfast as didn't have time for porridge.

Lunch was some potato and leek soup followed by two bananas and a mullerlight vanilla Yog.

Evening meal was moussaka. I minced that lamb myself as couldn't find lean minced lamb in the supermarket. It was the mincers first outing, as it's been in the cupboard for approx 6 years unused and unloved! Its got a sausage attachment but I'm afraid using it to mince was almost too technical for me, so sausages will have to wait

I'm about to wash some strawberries and have them with total Greek yogurt. Mmmmmmmmm :)

Called at local co.op to get some pudding rice and, woe is me, they didn't have any. In fact the assistant, who was not much younger than me, had never heard of pudding rice. She looked at me as though I was making it up! I was so looking forward to a rice pud. X

I do hope my fellow slimmers have had a good day with no temptation. Funnily enough since starting sw I've not had the urge for chocolate once.

I had a quick look at the daily mail online today and saw an article about a 40 stone woman who only ever walked out of her bedroom and into the bathroom and back all day. For her to lose weight must seem an impossible task, and imagine the excess skin she will be left with. What an awful life for her. I think she was in the news as she's in a programme about large people in a week or two. I'll have to check when it's on.

It makes the four to five stone I need to lose seem very little.

I'm working this morning and really can't be bothered. I think I'm having porridge and banana for breakfast, leftover moussaka for tea and I'm not sure what in between.

Had a blood test the other day and vit d is very low so dr rang for me to go into the surgery to discuss it. I've had a look at the food needed to rectify my levels and it's loads of oily fish but, apparently, it's hard to eat the amount needed. Hopefully I'll get a supplement. Just had a few weeks in the sun in India so it should be ok!!

Have a good day :) x

Good Morning Jane, Happy Friday!

I too read the article in the Mail about the lady that weighs 40st. The prog is Big Body Squad on Ch5 next Wed at 8pm!

Thanks for that blondegem, I shall be watching it :)

We've had one day old moussaka for tea. I can't seem to get it as nice as the traditional full fat method. It was ok ish but not wonderful. We are out tonight to see the group who perform all the spaghetti western music. I'm looking forward to it.

I also made rice pudding, using my milk allowance and water, it was devine and will now be a regular in our house

Got to rush as being picked up at 6.30.

Have a good evening x

Hope you've had a good night Jane :)

Loving the sound of rice pudding! :D

We had a great evening. The group were very good and very inventive with the way they made the sound effects.

I've had two Bacardi and diet cokes. I've looked them up on the sw web site and they are 2.5 syns each. For some reason I thought they would be 2 each. We called at the pub on the way back and I had diet coke with no Bacardi. Now I'll probably be up all night from too much caffeine.

Tomorrow (after a very lazy morning) I will be buying some gelatine so I can try the jelly sweets mentioned somewhere on this site.

Good night and sleep tight x

Well I've made the sweets and they are in the fridge. I've tried to get them out of the ice cube trays but they seem to be a bit stuck so I've left them for now. Maybe they are not set enough. If they are ok I'll photograph them and if I can work out how I'll put a picture on here.

Cooking a chicken curry for tea.

We are out again tonight, I'll be knackered tomorrow

Hmmm. I think I will try again with the sweets tomorrow. I'll use a Tupperware container and then cut them into cubes. Nevertheless, they still tasted lovely (if a little sweet), they just looked a bit yucky

I weighed myself this morning ( I know I shouldn't really) and my weight had gone up a little. I think it's just day to day fluctuation but I wish it was down all the time.

Does everyone resist the scales at home x

Hi Jane, hope you enjoy your night out again tonight!

I try not to weigh myself during the week but have been known to have a sneeky peek, I'm bad! Not as bad as I used to be though, I'd be on and off those scales several times a day

Back home :)

I get on the scales before I go to bed and then when I get up after the loo. On the morning of wi I have absolutely nothing to eat or drink....... 1 mug of coffee is about 8 fluid ounces or half a pound:rolleyes: We can make coffee where we meet but the kitchen is a bit yucky. I think I'll invest in one of those thermos mugs.

Chicken curry was nice and is all gone. Hubby ate loads. Tomorrow I think we are having salmon and I'm undecided whether to do new potatoes and veg or a salad with couscous etc. I must look if there is a decent recipe for potato salad anywhere. I'm sure I could do one with yogurt etc. Time for bed said zebedee x
