Lorna's Diary - I can do this!

I have been coming to MiniMins for around 2 years now, but never signed up or dared to post - I like to lurk in the shadow and hope noone notices me. Well I used to... this is my 6th time back at slimming world and each time I do well for a few weeks then "forget" I'm slimming and don't go back. I have decided to make myself accountable as now I'm telling the world I'm trying to lose weight.

I'm not sure how much I would like to lose but I really have to lose around 5 stone (possibly more). I rejoined on the 12th and yesterday was my first offical weigh in, I lost 3 1/2 lbs and I'm really pleased with that - as I had a fundraising night on the friday and drank lots of alcohol but was defintely worth it.

I am getting married in 3 years (ages away I know) but I would like to get to target long before that date and keep it off.

This diary is really to help me be more organised with a little more planning, which in turn I hope will help me have awesome weight loss. I usually do not have any syns and then blow out so this time around I will be sticking to between 5-10 syns per day so that I get used to have a small treat everyday and hopefully kurb binge eating.

little update, I am going to link to posts in my diary where you can find some yummy pictures/recipes for food.

Yesterday went well and today is another day, I'm determined to really stick to plan!

Saturday 21st
Breakfast: scrambled egg and mushrooms followed by some strawberries
Lunch: Salad, with chicken, pickeled onion, tomato, cucumber, apple, grape, boiled egg and fat free cottage cheese with a free balsamic vinegar.
Dinner: SW chicken curry with mushrooms, baby corn and mangetout and egg fried rice (2 and 1/2 syn)

Snacks: Fruit, Lemon Cheesecake muller (1 syn), calypso jubbly ice lolly (1 syn). Ryvita and cheese triangles (HEB and HEA)

I did well yesterday, surprisingly - at a few points I really wanted to reach for some BAD snacks but I didnt, instead I did the dishes and tidied the kitchen. The only syns I had was 2 and 1/2 for my curry sauce and it was definately worth it.

I'm not as planned today as I have been the other first days, so this might turn out as a disaster or it might be okay, I have plenty of free/superfree in the house anyway. I'm thinking maybe baked bean lasange for tonights dinner.

I really need to keep my momentum this time, I do great for the first few weeks and then I fall off the wagon. With summer on the way I'd love to have shed about 16lbs for the start of july. I don't plan on rushing my weight loss as I'd like it make changes that are realistic to stick with. I want to make a change for life not for just a few months. I'm getting married in 3 years and we will be continuing our family, I'd like to be maintaining my target in time for those to be able to fully enjoy myself.

I will also be having a drinks challenge today, I really don't think I drink enough most days and I definately didn't yesterday, so I'll come back later on tonight with an update on that. Right now I'm watching the London marathon and all I can think of is crisps, aaaaaargh! Not caved yet though had a banana and going to have some bran flakes and a mango, go me.

Well done, looks like you're doing brilliantly so far. Keep up the good work :)

I'm the same re. drinking. I never drink enough - I set myself challanges and it works for about a day and then I go back to my bad habits of barely drinking anything all day! Hope you have better look.

Heya lisajade and chipmunk, Thanks! A great start is easy it's keeping it up lol I spied your siggies and your both doing great, you must be pleased with doing so well so far.

Well today I've had..
B: banana
L: bran flakes and banana followed by 3 mangos
S: 1x salt and vinegar ringos (7 syns) and a lemon cheesecake muller (1 syn)

Just waiting now til dinner, which I'll have in about an hr and a half. Gonna have chicken breast stuffed with laughing cow extra light cheese triangle (1 syn) and some herbs mixed through or something, with mash potato, baked beans and veg - probs brocolli and mushrooms.

The crisps were fantastic, I love that you can eat healthly, lose weight but also have a packet of crisps lol

So far I've had half a litre of sugar free diluting juice, will aim for another half a litre at least before bed time!

Keeping it up is definitely the hard part but I think if your head is in the right place (and it seems to be!) it'll be a lot easier than you think. I am completely amazed that I've now been doing SW since 1st November. I was convinced at the beginning that I'd attempt it for two weeks tops and then go back to my old habits like I did with every other "diet" - but something just really clicked this time for me and SW is such an amazing plan, the easiest to stick to long-term :) I wish you the same success!

Good Morning @ Chimpmunk - it's totally the best slimming plan I've ever came across, each time I've started it a few times and always lose a stone to a stone and a half but I have 5 stone to lose minimum so I really need to see it through. I think coming here will definately help when it starts to get hard.

Todays meals look like, think I'll have a green day:
B: bran flakes(heb) and milk(hea) with a banana
L: chicken - left over from last night (heb) and rice followed by fruit
D: baked bean lasange with SW spicy wedges and veg

Another day! @ chipmunk - yeah SW is soo easy, I just love that you can lose weight but still eat really tasty food. This is my 6th time in a few years that I have been at slimming world and I keep coming back because it works so well. I get to around the stone and a half mark and something always happens be it a bad week, so I don't go to weigh in and then don't go back or something comes up and I cant make a week or two and dont go back... This will not be happening this time, it's time I faced the music and owned up to the fact that I have a problem with food.

Today has been:
Cereal and a banana (heb + hea)
1/2 packet of ringos and a mint club (9 syns)
Half a litre of water

Thats all to be honest, not really been that hungry so thought there is no point eating for the sake of it. Dinner is at about 6.30 so will have a muller light new york cheesecake yog (1/2 syn) and some fruit if I'm peckish. Gonna have a green day today as I need cheese later.on with my dinner, which will be:

Baked bean lasange with SW spicy wedges mushrooms and broccoli

I'm running out of fruit, I dont think I have any left at all - will get OH to pick up something on his way home - cant have a night without fruit just, best to have some in just incase I get the munchies. I will pop to tesco after work tomorrow for a proper fruit shop and will pick up ingredients for a veg soup too. Hmmm what soup to make, I guess I'll decide later lol

Hmmm... Posted twice but got to wait on them being approved. Any idea how long that takes?

It depends when the mods have a chance to get to it. It's because you have less than 50 posts, they'd moderated if they're over a certain length to prevent spamming. They'll be up soon enough :)

haha no worries, thanks Chipmunk! I will keep them a bit smaller for now :) Thanks Vegan, I will definately need all the luck I can get.

So today is another day, and I weighed mywself this morning (even though my weigh in isn't til thursday). I know I shouldn't and I try really hard not to but it said I've only lost a lb so far I was looking for more this week and have been 100% good so a little gutted, I have had a really bad cold and then a chest infection and I'm wondering if all the lozenges I ate last week have maybe caught up to me, I think I had around 15 over the course of a few days and silly me didn't think to work out their syns.

Today I again have really no idea what I want and I forogt to take meat out the freezer - DOH!

I work Tuesday to friday and I usually eat pretty much nothing during the day as I only work 4 hours I get a whole 15 minute break, exciting huh? So today I have had melon and mango and it's only 10am and I know I'll end up starving in a few hours. I forget that when I'm doing slimming world I find I need to eat more regularly which is of course alot better than 1 snack between 7am and 3pm and then I'm sooo hungry I just grab whatever and then because I'm hungry I snack all night, so yes definately much better eating breakfast, lunch and dinner. So I will definately be picking up some cereal bars and something that are a little more substantial than fruit to bring with me into work.

So that's me home now, decided on a baked potato with beans and cheese (hea) followed by an orange for my superfree. My OH is not he til 9 tonight so just me and the sprog to eat, not quite sure what I'll make but plenty of stuff there no bother.

Quick question, I cooked chicken on sunday and it has been in a tupperware dish in the fridge since then, would it be okay to eat today? I was gonna eat it yesterday but never got round to it, it's coasted in a tomato based sauce made from passatta.

Really try to fit breakfast in something that will keep you going such as porridge. It's important otherwise you will snack on crap. Bananas are good too try getting some of the smaller ones and having a couple of those whilst out/during the day. In your 15 minute break it's enough time to eat a small snack and grab a drink to keep you going. Keeping hydrated helps keep the hunger pangs at bay too. Try not to peek on the scales. It can stress you out. I was doing that but I was told that it can mess with your head. So I hide them now, out of sight and all that ;)

I know I've always been a bad eater when it comes to breakfast if I eat too early I will throw up, but I have been getting a little better I usually take my break around 11am and I will have my breakfast then. I will need to get some more cereal bars/cereal. I do sometimes go get a soup, there is a cafe near me that does homemade free Chicken and Rice and Lentil soup. If I work the odd full day I get a baked potato with cheese and salad, I'm lucky that the lady that owns the cafe instructs yoga at my work so I can be fussy and she doesn't mind weighing things for me.

I will get better at eating throughout the day, this can be my new goal.

YEsterday looked like this... I had my lunch very late so I just made it into a late lunch early dinner combo, again I wasn't overly hungry I think it's all the water I'm drinking I managed 1.5 litres yesterday

B: Mango, Melon and packet of Salt and Vinegar snack a jacks 22g bag (4.5)
L/D: Baked potato with baked beans and cheese (HEA) and chicken breast fillets with a salad
Evening Snack: 2 large oranges, Muller Light New York Yog (0.5), packet of salt and vinegar ringos 13g bag (3.5)

Syns: 8.5/15

I didn't manage my HEB yesterday, damn. I also ended up feeling sick yesterday so I think yesterday was just an off today. I feel much better today though :) I am going to be more organised today though and will post a food diary in a bit.

Snacks: Velvet Crunch crisps

Wednesday Food Diary

Breakfast: 2 Large Oranges and Fibre Plus bar (HEB)
Snack @ work: Velvet Crunch crips (4)
Lunch: Melon and Mango
Dinner: Steak with peppercorn sauce (2.5), mash, brocolli and mushrooms
Snack: Fruit and a Mullerlight

Syns: 6.5

It is weigh in tomorrow so fingers crossed that sticking to plan will result in another loss, yesterday made me feel blah with feeling pukey but I'm feeling better today so looking more forward to weigh in. I stopped smoking again, I had quit 3 years ago in july but was starting to have the odd pack in the last 2 months but that is me stopped again. I put on around 5 stone trying to stop almost 3 years ago but I will be losing weight this time around. I haven't had the same sort of cravings as in the last 3 years I've been not smoking more than smoking. I was a bit gutted with starting again but at least that is me stopped again, it is actually a HUGE relief. This year is my year to lose weight, continue to be a non-smoker and to get fit. I'm so determined this time around.

Yay for quitting smoking and sticking to plan.

Before SW I very rarely ate breakfast at all and now I don't know how the hell I made it through the day - I cannot do without breakfast these days!
