Any specific tips for using this site to my advantage are greatly appreciated. I lost 20lbs over a year ago doing the metabolic balance diet (low carb) and have kept it off. Since then, I have been trying to lose another 20lb, but have struggled to get motivated and am just tired of the foods I am eating and the plan I am following, so I decided to try Slimming World (on my own) & Minimins to help me in my journey.

I set my initial goal as a short-term goal to get below the weight my body doesn't seem to want me to be! If I can break this barrier, I know I can go lower. I have to lose 8 lbs by the end of the year to reach this goal.

Once there, I have a goal to look amazing for a Ball in Vienna in February - I will start working on how I envision myself looking for the Ball and translate that into a goal as the year closes!

Please help me to understand how to use this site and Slimming world to help me reach my goals - point me in the direction of tools, websites, users, tips and tricks...please help.

Hi Jodee and welcome to minimins. There are too many threads to mention, I dip into lots. I find the weekly WI ones a help I get weighed on a Wed so update every week. I also use the monthly challenge one, the recipes one, the syn values one. Take your time and look around. There are lots of us here for help.support and advice. Good luck on your journey

Hi Jodee, welcome aboard. I also follow SW on my own and I find this site such a big help. Everyone is helpful and friendly and this helps me stay motivated. Personally I don't enjoy the Image Therapy in classes so this site gives me all the help I need (thank you everyone). Check out the recipe forum as this does help keep things fresh and interesting. Best of kuck.

Thank you Emma and Texty for the warm welcome and ideas. I'll start looking around and see how I can use Minimins and contribute to others.

Your welcome anytime - give a shout if your stuck someone will always help :D it may be helpful to post a diary and people can see what your eating if you break it all down into breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks etc.

Hi, I've just joined and trying to do SW on my own too as I just a) can't afford time or money each week and b) live in the sticks so it's an hour round trip to class!! I'm hoping to stay motivated as I'm a yo yo dieter and I'm amazed at the determination of these fantastic losers ...... but they're really winners!!!:bighug:

Since I last posted I decided to follow the extra easy program - I did lose 2 lbs this past week (my weigh in day is Monday AM). I have been following it very closely (as much as possible considering I am still learning the program) - the only blip this week was Thanksgiving dinner, where I am sure I went over 15 syns. :( Anyway, I am back on track today and I did make it to 3 kettlebell workouts this week!

How's everyone else doing?

Well done jodee - I lost 0.5 on wed - not expecting a loss next week as I was out for a curry last night and im out for lunch tomorrow

So do I start a new thread or join one that exists...sorry, still a little confused. If I am supposed to start my own, I may have goofed when I joined a monday am weigh in thread. :) Thanks Texty!

You can start a new one and it will be a title of your choice. Go to the thread I posted for you then when you get there click on start new thread. Give it a name and away you go. There is also nothing stopping you posting stuff on the Monday WI thread. :D
