Help needed for 1st day......

Hi folks.....
i'm new on here but i'm looking for some help if anyone can....
i'm going to join a local slimming class next monday (7th jan) but it doesnt start until 7.30pm. i've gathered a lot of information from this site but know that i won't get my head around it all "properly" until i've been and i have all the books etc.
anyway....what i'd like to do, is start on monday myself (by doing a green day) so that tuesday is my 2nd day rather than my 1st and what i'm looking to find out is if you are able to mix days (ie green/red/EE) cos i'm thinking that once i have a look through all the stuff,i might end up doing extra easy?
will i be ok to do green on the monday then change if i wanted to...or do you have to stick to a certain type of day to see results?

am i right in thinking that if i do green, i get 2 healthy A's and B's and that its only 1 of each on EE?
thanks in advance for any replies....i'm sure this wont be the last of my questions lol xxx

I know you haven't started yet, but everyones different so just do what feels right, mixing is fine, if i'm honest its the only way i lose, i have to have a mix of days otherwise i don't seem to get anywhere. So yes, mixing days is fine, sometimes its nice to have a day where you can have 2 HE's too :)

Welcome!

I am fairly new to all of this too. I only do Green days because being vegetarian that suits me better than the other plans. My class leader said the other night though that it is fine to chop and change as long as you do full days of each (someone in my class thought it would be okay to switch halfway through the day because she fancied some red meat!!)

Good luck!

thanks folks...
just wanted to check in case, by doing that, it didn't get me off to a great start!
so if i try to do green on monday before i go to my 1st class, i can have 2 weetabix and milk for 1 of the healthy a's and b's then maybe wholemeal bread and cheese for the 2nd lot - is that right?
i was doing WW until 4 weeks ago so i need to make sure i ditch all of the "points" thoughts when starting this and embrace the foods i can and the amounts cos somehow...even though i can't figure out how lol, this seems to be working for others!
thanks again for the replies x

That would be fine. I mix between extra easy and green days. Good luck with it.

i would post your green monday plan on here as in breakfast/lunch/dinner and snacks and just get itchecked by more experienced members to make sure it's ok :)

yeah i think i might. sunday is shopping day and monday i'm gonna cook ;)
struggling a bit with this site....i thought i'd get notifications when people reply to a post? i'm having to hunt for the thread or something i've commented on and scroll thru to see if there have been any replies...am i missing something? x

Click on 'Settings' a the top right of your page. It takes you to a page that shows all of the threads you've started or posted in and tells you if there have been any updates.

well...this is day 8 for me on SW and my 1st weigh in is tonight. i'm going to get weighed at a different class (2hrs earlier) as my son has football so i'm going to nick along to another place and get weighed while he's there then it means i can come home, get dinner and organised rather than having to run around and not get back in (or have dinner) until late.
slightly wary with it being a different time and place (i'm one of these people who want the same scales, same place, same outfit etc so that there's no way it could be different lol...sad but so very true)

soooo hoping it goes as well as i'd like it to - i have literally stuck to the plan 100% and spent a lot of time and effort trying to "get it right"
fingers crossed.... x

Good luck I'm sure I'm sending it on behalf of most members of this forum stick on here for inspiration and help we're all willing to help and remember the recipes thread PETE'S are brilliant for inspiration !!

thanks folks....i'll report back with my (delightful...hopefully lol) news :D
spent a lot of time on here, trawling thru and following other people's stories - it's great for lots of ideas, tips and motivation x

Oh well done honey thats an amazing loss! you must be soooooo happy?! :) Ive got my first weigh in tomorrow and am sooooo scared! I too am only doing green days, and am so scared that this many carbs cant possibly result in a loss! A little voice inside my head says 'easy on the pasta and rice becs!' Do you feel like that too? xxx
A big congrats on the weight loss again honey, youre on your waaaaaaaaaaay :)

yeah i get what you mean...think its cos for so long i've weighed and measure etc and i was wary about starting sw cos i thought i would just eat huge amounts...because i could but i really havent.
i'm doing one day green and one day EE and the dinners are so much easier on EE i think, but i really miss having 2 HE's on those days. suppose it's all just trial and error eh? need to see what works better for each of us i think
have you tried EE at all?
i'm sure you'll have good results too...remember and report back ;)
i was worried but its done now, and no, it wasn't as much as what i've seen on here for people's 1st weeks but its still a good loss and i'd be bloody happy with that every week for what i ate and didn't miss out on! (not that i think that's a guaranteed amount every week)
for me the sw chips have been fab....i've really made an effort to cook from scratch and i reckon as long as we plan and are organised, it's half the battle.

coming from ww, which is sooo much more "convenient" because of the stuff you can buy, i was worried how i would cope if i was out and hungry. well, on sunday, i had breakfast, went to asda and after a while felt really hungry, sweaty and like i was going to pass out. i thought i better get something to eat and was so pleased that i sat in their cafe, made up a mugshot and ate an activia snackpot rather than grab something else :D
after 10 mins or so i felt much better and continued on with my shop of meats and stuff for recipes and dinners which i had planned out.
funny how wee things like that can make you feel chuffed eh lol x

Awww yes i know what you mean! its the small changes that seem to make me feel more proud. like you say, just sitting in a cafe surrounded by yummy fatty calorific food, and you had the willpower and control to sit and eat your mugshot and yoghurt! thats brilliant! i think its things like that that show you're really super dedictaed to making this change! Its weird though because ive read everywhere 'its not a diet, its a lifestyle change' and i was like, yeah okay, its a diet however you wanna dress it up! But its so so not is it! it literally is the rule of 'everything in moderation', and ive been doing it for a week, and have not felt once like i was missing out on anything! Im so excited/nervous for my weigh in tomorrow! Because even if its only a small loss like a couple of pounds, its still more than i would have lost had i not been doing the diet, and ive probably eaten more and better than i have in aaaaaaages!!! Super excited :) xxx

go you! :D
i haven't felt like i've missed out either, in fact, i've sat with meals and went "when would i have ever eaten this when i was on ww" lol.
and the fact i've been having sw ferrero rochers have gone down a wee treat! i'd definitely recommend making them ;)
i look at some of the portion sizes people put down and think there's no way i'd eat that, and i know that i could, but i don't want to be greedy and eat more than i need.
i made the magic porridge last night and had it this morning at 8.40. wanted to see how long it would last me....it's now 11.35 and i've still not had anything! here's hoping its the same tomorrow cos i'm working and that would really be ideal and it was so quick - have you had it?
just hoping it doesnt end up giving me the ol' bit constipation (too much information!! lol) i do drink tons so fingers crossed lol

what type of dinners have you been having on green days? x

Oooooooo magic porridge??? whats that? sounds magical! ;) If its something i can substitute eggs or mullerlight and fruit for im all for it!!!
Erm dinner-wise i usually have pasta, rice or jacket pots! I like to experiment with pasta sauces (sometimes dont quite turn out how i imagine they will!!), and love making chilli! Jacket potatoes with beans and cheese is super yummy for dindins too! Have you tried any of the quorn substitue stuff? I havent! im scared they'll taste really bad!!
What kinda dinners have you been having? xxx

the magic porridge is your 35g HE allowance of plain oats, mix it into a yog and cover, leave in fridge overnight and voila!...quick filling goodness on the way out the door. i put mine in an activia snack pot strawberry yog and really did like it - give it a try :)

havent tried any quorn...i just save my meat days for when i do EE, i have had the sausages before, a long time ago, and didn't like them...think you need to syn them now so stuff that!
i had the linda mccartney rosemary and red onion ones (which are free) the other night with sw chips, peas and tomato sauce for dinner. really enjoyed it but think the ketchup helped as i wasn't overly keen on the flavours from the sausage but barely noticed it when munching them with everything else. i def couldn't stomach them on their own or early for breakfast but worth a shot too?

i also made the chickpea dahl loaf (tin of asda chickpea dahl mixed with a packet of savoury rice (cooked first) 3 eggs and bake in the oven and i like that. 1st time i put the whole mixture in a tin and it took aaaaages, since then, i've been cooking them in muffin tin so get 12 out of it and are so handy for snacking, taking to work and nice with salad too i imagine. they taste a bit like mild pakora/falafel if you like that?
dunno what i'll have tonight, have some boiled pots left from last night so might roast them and have them with an omlette maybe - not sure...was planning a stir fry but want to waste as little as possible as i've spent quite a lot the last 2 weeks getting bits and bobs to get started with it all.

i made the BBQ sauce earlier which is actually quite nice so plan to do EE tomorrow and have that with chicken...mmmm, its as near Asda's hunters chicken as i'll ever get....had to watch my OH eat that once a week for months so now it's my turn lol x
