New Start, New Diary.....

Hello to anyone reading :wavey:

My Slimming World Story so far:

I originally joined slimming world in June 2011 with a starting weight of 11 stone 13lbs. It was the heaviest I'd known myself to be. I joined with my mum to lose weight for my sisters wedding which was in April 2012. I was bridesmaid and had already had some not great dress shopping experiences (one in a shop where the assistant was trying to pull a strapless dress over my hips and it wouldn't go!! but that was an awful shop where they didn't have separate changing rooms so the other bridesmaids, my sister, my mum and brother in laws mum could all see which made it even worse!!)

I did really well with getting my stone and a half award (and 2lbs away from my target of 10 stone 4 lbs) 2 weeks before christmas. We had chosen our bridesmaid dresses and been to fitting and mine was actually loose! Then Christmas happened and slowly my weight started going up and down. I never got back to the 10 stone 6 which I was before Christmas.

At the time of the wedding I weighed 11 stone 4lbs and the dress was slightly tight. I was gutted but had only myself to blame.
Me and mum kept going to slimming world after but my weight kept fluctuating.

Then I moved out of home to live with my boyfriend in September. With all the things to do with the move and sort out the new house I stopped going to class. My last weigh in was in October where I was 11 stone 6.5 lbs. I remember coming home to my boyfriend and saying I couldn't put on anymore weight or I wouldn't even have my half stone award anymore!

Needless to say that didn't happen. I stopped following the plan completely having junk food every night (and not just small amounts), eating a lot of convenience food like pizza and oven chips and started eating bread again.

Roll on a few months and I hate seeing myself in the mirror. My clothes are tight and look awful on me, especially compared to last year.

I went back to slimming world on Wednesday for a new start. I didn't want to use my existing card and be told I had a gain of x lbs, i'd rather be told a new starting weight.

So my new starting weight is 12 stone 2.5 lbs. I worked out that this is a gain of 10 lbs since October :(
I've started this diary to hopefully keep myself in check and motivated.

If anyone reads, feel free to comment! Any help will always be appreciated

Hi :wavey:
Good luck with getting back on track. I lost weight last year but with a new job, son being really bad at school and both my mum & nan being ill I put on 1st of the 2 st 8lb I had lost. I'm starting again for the new year.

Hey! Good luck, ill be following. New start for me also. Started Jan last year with starting weight of 13st 10lbs. Got down to 12st 4lbs and stopped in October. First class is on Wed so I don't even know what I weigh now!
I'll be following. Good luck xxx

Thanks everyone, I am so focused this time (but then again it is the first week!) I've been keeping a food diary on the Slimming World website but I'm not that fussed on it as it doesn't keep the foods listed separated like meals.

So I went to weigh in Wednesday evening so first day back on plan was Thursday. Didn't go well at all! I didn't have much healthy food in the house and after I got home I was too tired to sort out food for the next day.

Day 1:
I had a 13 hour shift at work, and then breaks were messed up. I started at 8 and didn't get a break until 1 o'clock. So by then I was very hungry and ended up eating 4 weetabix with banana and raspberries. (I do mostly green days so at this point it was ok). Got peckish in the afternoon and had a rocky road hifi. Got another break at half 5. Had no food with me for this so went to the shop across the road. Since it was the evening their salad bar was practically empty so got a few spoonfuls of tuna (was mixed with mayo), some curried rice and noodles (I know, weird mix but there wasn't much choice). I also had another rocky road hifi.

Complete overload of HEBs. No idea how to syn it, the rice wouldn't have been low since it looked oily from whatever way the curried it!
So bad start to Day 1 :(

Day 2: started off well with weetabix and raspberries. Then we went on to ikea and I was hungry when we got there. I had the oven baked fish and chips and some red sauce. Couldn't find the syns for them online so synned them as average baked cod and chips. Worked out at 15 syns (fish synned for a green day). Good thing was we went to Sainsburys afterwards and I stocked up on healthy food :) (though side note about Sainsburys- went to spend the £15 nectar points I had but was told I couldn't since it wasn't my 'home' store!! Didn't know they did this!!)

Dinner was salad, though made a mistake with the healthy extras. I had bought reduced fat halloumi cheese. I thought this could be used as HEA but was wrong. When I later checked online it is only a HEB choice when doing a green day. Since I had s Special K chewy bar later I ended up having 3 HEB and 1 HEA.

Syns ended up at 18.5 as had red sauce with fish and chips (1.5 syns) and 2 tablespoons of extra light salad cream (3 syns)
Though technically it is even higher since I mixed up the healthy extras.

Day 3 and Day 4 (today) have finally went to plan :D

Yesterday I had weetabix with raspberries and banana for breakfast, no lunch since people were over visiting (but we had a late breakfast) and I snacked on fruit. Dinner was Cheesy Potato Broccoli Bake from the new magazine. I wasn't that keen on it but my boyfriend like it (well so he says!!) I had no syns to pull back for Thurs and Fri.

Today I made a mushroom and onion omelette for breakfast. Lunch was leftover CPB bake from last night and dinner was salad (eggs, lettuce, onions, peppers, 45g reduced fat halloumi cheese and some quorn ham and free salad dressing). I also had a rhubarb mullerlight (yum!) and orange. Total syns= 5 for a toffee crisp biscuit, and used my second HEB on a Special K Chewy bar. My HEA is used for milk. I have been measuring it but haven't used the full amount yet, even on the mornings I had weetabix!

Well, hope your restarts have got to a better start than mine!

Weighed out the 35g of Frosted Wheats for breakfast. It was tiny!! I'm still hungry so going to fill up on fruit.

Plan for today is finish clearing up my house and get some cooking done cos I'm back in work tomorrow. Four days goes too fast :(

Best of luck on Wednesday. I recently joined slimming world with a slow weight loss. I will be following too to see if I can pick up some tips as you have done this before. Like you, I regularly come across days when I can't always plan what I'm eating! I find the SW rocky road bars a saviour (even if you eat too many - not too much harm done)!!

Thanks cutevelvet. i love the rocky road bars. It doesn't seem right they're a healthy extra since they're so chocolaty :p

i try to plan ahead breakfast and lunches for work but I'm pretty bad for planning ahead dinners and when I'l have syns., or for my days off!

I made stir fry for lunch, it was delish, (also made double to do my lunch either tomorrow or wed) It was half a syn as I used a tbsp of chilli and garlic sauce.

I think I'm going to try the vegetable paella for dinner tonight that is in the latest magazines booklet. It's hard to get something to suit sometimes cos I'm vegetarian (except for eating fish) and my boyfriend has PKU so that rules out a lot of the vegetarian recipes that use eggs (but he doesn't do SW)

I would say its very tough being vegetarian and meal choices/plans. I made a lovely chickpea and lentil curry using the sw chip shop curry sauce on the sw website and adding the peas and lentils to it. I had it with rice. It did me for about three days. It was really delicious and syn free. My problem is controlling my syns - I end up having nearly all of syns before 5 o'clock!! I have a weigh in on Wednesday too but was not great at the weekend.....

I haven't seen that recipe, I must look it up! I like the mushy pea curry and there's a superfree curry on here made from cauliflower that I've tried before too. It tastes better the day after it's made.

I don't usually have a lot of syns during the day, don't really have the chance too at work if I've brought food in. If i'm not prepared there's not a lot of syn free choices to have so i'd end up slipping up. What do you use your syns on? I like keeping mine for chocolate but that can be a problem because once I start eating chocolate I always want more.

Hi Ally
Just checking in I love the idea of Weetabix and Raspberries for breakfast i always have bananas with mine when i have them!

I would have weetabix with defrosted frozen raspberries. For some reason I don't like fresh ones. Another way I'd have weetabix is with them broken up and mixed with yoghurt, banana, grapes and the defrosted raspberries instead of milk. It's really filling and saves the milk for extra cheese. Plus I like the crunch :)

I have just wrote that in my slimming world book where i put all the ideas i get thank you x

Hi Ally, ref the vegetarian ideas, have you tried afghan carrot hot pot? It's become a real favourite for me now - defrost veggie, and no dairy products at all. I also make a Moroccan chickpea stew, which is pretty good.

No I haven't tried these! I'm liking the sound of the hotpot. Where do I find the recipes? I've never cooked chickpeas before so it will be good to try something new :)

Monday, Green day

breakfast:
35g frosted wheats (heb) = really small bowl!

lunch: quorn stir fry: quorn pieces, peppers, onions, mushrooms and a handful from an iceland bag of oriental mix. added noodles and chilli and garlic sauce (0.5 syn)

snack:
orange

dinner: vegetable paella (recipe from slimming world magazine booklet). very filling and the recipe makes huge portions! enough was made to do both my and bfs lunches tomorrow. While it was nice, I wouldn't like to eat a whole lot of it at one time.

snack: apple

snack: 2x rocky road bars (heb), toffee crisp biscuit (5 syns)

Total: 5.5 syns

HEA was used on 2 cups of coffee during the day, measured it out but have not used the whole amount.

Good day today :) Although I was off work and have been on here loads today. I think it stopped me from picking!

I'm finding it easy enough the past few days. I haven't had the urge to be eating junk food. It makes me wonder why I wasn't like this before Christmas when I was eating loads of junk food every night and not just small amounts! I suppose you have to be in the right mindset and I just wasn't.

Hope everyone else is having a good week. 2 days to weigh day (eeek) and I haven't had any oppurtunity for a sneak peeks at scales since I've none in this house. My old ones at home (well old home) have stopped working.

Hi Ally - like you, chocolate is my syn of choice. I would probably have a curly wurly, then maybe another one and I have hardly any syns left for later which is a pain. I have just found a chocolate cake recipe made with bran flakes or weetabix on this site which I might try today. Have you tried it? Will keep you posted. I have made the mushy pea curry which I dont really like but I will try the cauliflower one as I heard at the group that its nice.

No I haven' tried it. I once tried a scanbran recipe I seen on facebook for coffee cake. It turned out awful so never tried again! Though I have tried some scanbran cake at tasters.
I prefer keeping my syns till evening cause thats when I want a munch :)

Today has went well so far. Kept busy at work.

Breakfast: 2 weetabix (HEB) with milk, raspberries and a banana

Lunch: leftover vegetable paella, an apple and coconut mullerlight

Dinner: mustard potatoes (basically mashed potatoes mixed with milk and wholegrain mustard) (0.5 syn), 2 quorn bbq fillets, onions, mushrooms, peas and a corn on the cob.

So still have more healthy extras and syns to have later. yum!

Hi,

I don't know where the word defrost came from in my last post!
The recipes are on this site somewhere, but I'll have a look & try to post them. Both are great. I love chickpeas...

I did a search and found the post you put up with the afghan carrot hotpot. It sounds great, need to get a few ingredients to make it, maybe on Thursday when I'm off! Only question is what yoghurt did you serve it with?

Couldn't find the morrocan chickpea stew. There was a load of recipes for chickpea soup though.
