2013 will be my year!

Helen
2013 will be year I finally get my weight under control again!

I have done SW before got to within 1lb of my target 5 years ago, but started to put the weight back on plus more and now been this weight for the last year or so. I have tried other diets but I get so hungry!

So back to SW it is, I know it works and I know I can do it because I've done it before.

Dug my old books out and started on Monday 21st January, going to join Online on Friday (when I get paid) - wish I could make it to a meeting, but my schedule does not allow the time.

Sunday - Made a big dish of Veg pasta for lunches during the week and sat and planned all my meals and snacks.

Now on day 3 and I am feeling good - been eating loads of superfree foods!

However I am one of those people that can not leave the scales alone! I weigh myself every day, and no movement yet! I know I should only weigh once a week but I just can't help it!

Any advise for a returning slimmer would be appreciated.

Hello sarg1970,

Well done on restarting. I got to 2lb from my target christmas 2011 and then slowly started putting on weight and then kept yoyoing. Stopped going to group in October and piled on more weight so went back and restarted group at the start of January. So far its going been going good.
My advise would to be prepared as possible and keep plenty of superfree and low syn treats in the house. But it looks like you've done that already :)

What books are you using cos they changed them last January and again this January, but you will be able to see the changes when you join online, it's mainly the amounts of some healthy extras I think.

I used to weigh myself constantly - every morning and night, but my scales have stopped working, might only need a new battery but I haven't tried and didn't take them with me when I moved house. I'm not quite sure yet if I like the surprise every week at weigh in!! Since your weighing at home maybe put them somewhere out of sight until Monday??

Good luck with the rest of your week :)

Hi Ally 88

Think the books that I am using are about 18 months old so out of date. I am signing up the gold online tomorrow, so that will come with the new books. I know all the info will be on line, but I like to have the books to write notes and stick post it pads in etc. LOL

I had heard that the weights of HE had changed, but through for just a week the old info would be OK.

Did weigh myself this morning, could not help it! but have lost 1lb in 3 days so feel quite motivated.

Good luck with you week, let me know how you are getting on.

Hi Katye

Good luck hope it is going well for you.

If you go for the Gold online you get the books and a years subscription to the mag. Bronze is just the online and silver you get the subscription to mag.
Hence why I am going for Gold, works out cheaper that bidding for the books on ebay.

A big Yes to sharing encouragement and support!

just sat and scheduled all my meals for next week and wrote a shopping list based on it.

Going to make the Lemony tray roast pork from the January mag, the chicken hot pot that I found in Jan 2012 mag the other day, slimming world carbonara (my kids love this), roast chicken one pot, spag bol, slimming world fish and chip and a big roast on Sunday (not sure what yet depends what is on offer in the shop)

Chicken salad and baked pots for lunch most days (easy to take to work and eat)

half grapefruit, honey nut shredded wheat with fruit and yogurt for breakfast (never tried shredded wheat, fancy something new and it looks quite nice)
or scrambled eggs on toast.

Melon, satsuma, apples, yogurts for snacks

Oh and somewhere along the line I will have to have a HE A every day, don't drink milk so sometimes find it very difficult and ended up eating a HE portion of cheese with grapes and pickles just before I go to bed!

Now the syns - Mini cadbury chocolate eggs! 3 syns each - have to have chocolate every day! LOL

My whole family get the given the dinners and don't realise that they are eating so healthy! :)

Ahh, thanks
Only day 4 today, so real early day's - going well so far. I do wonder, and worry just a little - am I doing it right, can I really lose weight eating so much!
I would like to join on-line, and looked at the gold option - it states it is on offer till 31st Jan, but still £79 for 3 mths. May have to wait a while before I can do this.
Think the people selling the books on ebay, are asking silly money!!
What day is your weigh day? Mine is Monday, good luck to us both eh! ;)

If you can get to a group, even go just for the 1st week and you will get the plan explained and get the member pack! There is a coupon in this weeks reveal magazine for free membership so all you would have to pay is the £4.95 weekly fee! My friend used it last night :)

That's great planning! I wish I could be that organised. I usually can only do a day or two in advance. The mini malteaser bunnies (get them in a bag of 5 for £1) are 3 syns each, but they're hard to stop at just 1. (the normal size bunnies are 8 or 8.5 syns I think)

My weigh day is Wednesday. Lost 1lb this week so that 9.5 in 3 weeks so really pleased with the way it's going so far.

Hi Katye

I have be organised! Working full time and two children with a Hubby that works nights.

Also helps to stick 100% as you know what your eating and I only buy what is on the list, so don't get tempted.

Not sure if the Carbonara recipe is on here but here you go.

This is for 4 people on Easy Extra

4 slices bacon all fat cut off, grilled and cut up (or you could use 2 x gammon steaks)
400g of pasta
3 eggs
3 tbs of fat free fromaige frais
Parmesan/parmigiano reggiano, fresh 25g (5 syns)
Fresh Chives

Cook the pasta
grill and chops up the bacon/gammon
mix the eggs, parmesan and fromaige frias together

While the pasta is still hot mix in the bacon/gammon and pore over the egg mixture
put back on the heat stiring the whole time till it starts to thicken (don't leave too long or the eggs scramble)

Serve up and sprinkle chives over.

I serve it will lots of superfree veg

Found this recipe about 6 years ago when I first did SW and cook it about once every two weeks, as my kids love it and it is so quick and easy, takes about 20 mins in total.

Hope you enjoy it. Let me know what you think.

Well thats it! Signed up this morning to SW online! Books are in the post and a years subscription to the mag.

So Friday's will now be my weigh in day!

Lost 2lb since Monday using the old books that I have, so pleased with that.

Have a had look around the site and love it so far, loads of info, and loads of recipes.

Got paid today, so treat night, kids pizza, hubby Steak and chips and I am going to have Scallops cooked in Garlic sauce (homemade) with rice noodles and stir fry veg (1 syn for the cornflour to thicken the sauce) How good I am! LOL would normally go for chips with Chinese snack selection, (prawn toast, pancake rolls etc)

Well thats the weekend very nearly over. Hope you all have had a good one.

Gym Friday night, followed by scallops and noddles with loads of veg.

Saturday, food shopping, stuck to my list :), followed by scrambled egg and toast in the cafe for breakfast. Taxied the kids about, chicken salad for lunch, power walk with a friend and SW Fish Pie for tea. Been good and filled in my food diary on line! Started a body magic challange on line - walk around the Isle of Wight 65.3 miles. All adds to the awards.

Sunday, yogurt and fruit, followed by 1.5 hours down the gym. SW fry up for lunch and roast lamb for dinner, skipped the roast tates and went for a jacket potato instead.

Work in the morning, already preparing, raw veg for snacks, cous cous chicken and salad all ready to go (enough cous cous and chicken ready for 4 days!)

Day 4 - eat loads today, but brain not engaging today.

Worried that even though I have been 100% that the scales will show no losses. And it's all because I did not step on the scales this morning!

I have to weigh every day, but I know we should only weigh once a week, but I need the reassurance every day that its working! Stupid I know, but I do I get over it? Ideas please!!!?

Hi Katye

4lb that brilliant! way to go you!:)

The walk around the IOW is an online body magic challenge, you do a bit of walking every day, put in the time and distance and it shows you how far you have got, it then goes into your fit log and goes towards the award you are going for - I am going for silver. I am not quite loopy enough to actually walk around the IOW LOL - but there again it could be fun!!!

I did step on the scales this morning :( - showed a loss, so I am now happy again :). My aim was to cut down on the weighing, but it just made me paranoid as I had not weighed for two days and I got all stressed out, so thinking its better to weigh than get stressed out? Maybe once this first week is over I will just weigh on a Monday and Friday (Friday is my weigh in day any way) at least that way I will know if I have done any damage over the weekends! My scales only show whole 1lbs and not halves so thinking I may buy some new ones soon.

What I did was take a bottle of water to bed with me Sunday night and drank it when I woke up yesterday morning, so that there was no point in stepping on the scales! LOL

But you could ask the question and tell me off in the nicest possible way if I have stepped on the scales! and yes i would be honest about it. :)
