The Slimming Adventures of Mr and Mrs Biz

Hi everyone!
I am a former SW member, lost 2.7 stone in the first half of 2012, and was feeling great! During the summer of 2012 I got married to Mr Biz, and moved to Norway. The following months have put some of that weight back on, and I have tried to remove the excess weight in varying ways, but with no success. So, back to the tried and tested method, and this time Mr Biz will be joining me!
As we live in Norway, there are no groups we can attend, so we will be doing it without the support of a group and consultant, and hope that we can get the support we need from each other and the lovely people here at Minimins.

On Monday we will find out exactly how much excess weight we have gained, and can start the journey to remove it...

The main difficulties in this endeavour are:
- Motivation, or the lack of it when things get tough.
- Norwegian food, so will have to find equivalent substitutes for most of the British food.

I hope you'll drop by to cheer us on!

The dreaded first Weigh In day has arrived, and the result is worse than I had hoped, but better than I had feared. I have gained a bit over a stone in the past half year, so I set myself a goal of 20,6 lbs to lose, and Mr Biz wants to lose 20,4 lbs. I'm hoping that I can manage most of this before my summer holiday in July, as I always find it hard to focus during holidays.

Day one back on plan went smoothly, but I wasn't at work today, so there were no distractions or temptations. Tomorrow I am back at work and will have to resist eating freshly baked rolls which we have every tuesday. But I have already decided to say no, and will try to stand by my decision when temptation looms :)
Mr Biz doesn't have the same problems, as I always make him a packed lunch, and he only eats that. Somehow he doesn't seem to have cravings for other things...I wonder whether that is a male thing?

Otherwise, today has been the big food shop day. I have filled the fridge, cupboards and freezer with lean mince, loads of fruit and veg, fat free yogurts and tins of beans! I have also made a fruit salad for breakfasts, and breakfast muffins (mini quiches) for lunches. It feels good to be back on plan, and I'm only hoping that this feeling will last :)

Weigh In day, and what a happy day it was!
4.5 lbs off for me, and 5 lbs off for Mr Biz! We are very happy with those results, even though I know it is usual to lose lots the first week in. Now to continue the run and try to keep up the good work.
The week has gone smoothly, I have had the usual cravings for baked goods, but have mostly stuck to my own meal plans.
We had friends over on Saturday, and I made a semi-SW friendly meal, and only had one little glass of wine. I went over 15 syns that day, but generally have kept below 8 syns per day otherwise.

I know from experience that week 2 and 3 are much toughter than week 1, and am dreading them slightly, but I find that the extra determination and push that I get from "competing" with Mr Biz make it easier to stick to plan. Now I just need to search this site for new meal ideas, as last week consisted of way too much tomato based dishes.

So, onwards and downwards :)

Time for another update:

Both me and Mr. Biz are slowly but surely still dropping the pounds. However, I am noticing that I am getting less motivated every week I lose, and tend to think "I was naughty last week, and still lost. I'm gonna be even naughtier this week". I know this pattern from my previous SW experience, and usually it takes me a gain to get my head straight for another few weeks. This time, though, I'm going to try top stop it before that happens. The coming weeks are difficult however, off to see the in-laws over the coming weekend, where there is soooo much good food, and my lovely mother-in-law gets a little upset that I don't eat it :) Then it's my birthday, and then the same week we are celebrating Norways national day, which generally means ice-cream, cake and possible champagne for breakfast. I'll try to SW it, but as it is only once a year, I'll allow myself some goodies.
After the next two weeks though things should be easier.

We have both got into eating habits which seem to work. I have fruitsalad with fat-free yogurt for breakfast, he has a slice of bread with ham and loads of veg, for lunch I have two Ryvitas with mackerell, greens and a pear, he has bread with hard-boiled egg and veg. Dinner is easy, I love making SW dinners. We have risotto, SW lasagne, baked potatoes, chili con carne, spagetti bolognese or a variety of other things, and if I run out of ideas, there are always more here on minimins.

All in all, we are both reaping the benefits of SW, I have had to have another notch made on my belt, he has just bought a jacket a size smaller than he usually uses, and generally we both look way slimmer :)

So bring on next week!
