No more excuses! Back again for 2015

I predict a diet

Regular Poster
My name is Chrissie and I have let my weight slip up over the last few years until I got to the point that I stopped weighing myself, I had a good idea what I weighed but didn't want to admit it to myself.

I joined Slimming World yesterday and am determined to see it through this time, I am fed up with wearing baggy clothes to cover all the bulges and hiding in dark corners thinking that no-one will notice that I have got heavier since they last saw me. I gave up smoking 3 weeks ago and if I can do that then I can do this too! I nearly gave myself until the new year but that is just another excuse not to start and would probably be yet another stone to lose.

So here goes, I am new to this site but am writing this down for me and if it helps me and anyone else then I will be happy with that :)

Yesterday I had a good day, Breakfast was egg and soldiers - something I haven't had since I was a kid! I am not very good at eating breakfast so this will be my hardest meal of the day - today it is chopped up banana with muller light yoghurt.

Lunch was a very filling jacket potato with baked beans and salad and for dinner I made the SW shepherds pie, which was also very filling and my hubby enjoyed it too - I hadn't used my 30g cheese Healthy Extra A choice so that went on top. I was so full I didn't have room for the free of syn pudding that I had planned!

I have made sure that I have plenty of fruit in the house in case I get the munchies.

Today's lunch will be another portion of the shepherds pie, there is loads of it! Hubby took a portion to work for his lunch.

Not sure what to make for tonights dinner but will enjoy looking through some recipes later :)

Hi Chrissie, I'm here to subscribe :)

Well done for joining SW before Christmas, that's great, as you say if you left it until after Christmas then you feel even worse on your first day.

Here's to a good week x

Thanks Emma

I feel pretty positive at the moment, probably because I felt good about finally giving up smoking (although that just makes the food cravings worse for a while!) Ok so this Christmas is going to be a struggle but this time next year I will be choosing a nice flattering dress for the party instead of the baggy tent that I had to buy for this year :D

As I am not going to a group I hope that reporting my weekly weigh in here will help to keep me on track, I do have to report it on the SW site but it's all automated responses - no human to give you a pat on the back or an encouraging word!

Anyway......I will try not to disappoint :)

Todays menu:

A choice: 30g cheddar
B choice: 2 Alpen light cereal bars

Breakfast: Sliced Banana and Muller Light Yoghurt

Lunch: Salad vegetables with tuna, boiled egg, cold baked beans, new potatoes and fat free dressing (Didn't get to eat last nights leftovers as hubby left his at work but came home for lunch so he ate it!)

Dinner: Coated some chicken breasts in fajita mix sprayed with one cal and cooked in the oven, serving cold with salad, fat free dressing and new potatoes, then remembered my cheese so cut up 30g of cheddar and added that too. (Crikey that's a lot of food!)

Snacks: Grapes, Muller light yoghurt and my Alpen bars throughout the day.
Syns: 2 x Nescafe Cappuccino - (7 syns) 2 tablespoons of lighter than light mayo (1 syn) and the fajita mix (1.5 syns) Total 9.5 syns

I have to work tomorrow (I am self employed so normally work from home but do a bit of temping now and then) so I have got all organised and made up a salad to take with me and some fruit so that I don't go near the vending machine if I get the munchies :innocent0002:

See you tomorrow!

Hey hun, popping to subscribe. Well done you for starting the diet before Christmas, very brave of you, like others have said it's all too easy to brush it off until the new year. You obviously really want this so much, wishing you every success and looking forward to watching your progress! x

Todays menu:

A choice: 30g cheddar
B choice: 2 Alpen light cereal bars

Breakfast: Sliced Banana and Muller Light Yoghurt

Lunch: Salad vegetables with new potatoes and the rest of the fajita spiced chicken with fat free dressing and a little very light mayo.

Dinner: Jacket potato with baked beans plus my cheese HEX grated on top

Had a good day at work and didn't get the munchies once! Traffic was awful coming home and I really couldn't be bothered to stop at the shops but hubby said he fancied a jacket potato too so problem solved, I shall go shopping tomorrow :)

If I still fancy a dessert tonight it will be a muller light yoghurt with some fruit in it (must remember to try freezing some yoghurts for syn free puds!)

Syns: 2 x Nescafe Cappuccino - (7 syns) 2 tablespoons of lighter than light mayo (1 syn) and the fajita mix (1.5 syns) Total 9.5 syns
Was only going to have one cappuccino today but after the traffic nightmare I had to have one when I got in. It's probably the hardest thing for me to give up so far!! :D

I ate well yesterday even though I was at work all day, I did pop home to eat my lunch but will have a think over the weekend about what to take into the office on my "work" days in future, there is a microwave in the canteen which will be useful. The great thing is that I am on reception most of the time so I wouldn't eat at my desk like I would have in the other offices. This usually meant that lunch was eaten early and then by mid-afternoon I would have to raid the vending machine.

Another thing that happened yesterday, I lost my vapour-cig at lunchtime yesterday, it's in the car somewhere but you know what? I am not climbing the walls without it so that's another thing I have given up! Woohoo :D I wasn't sure if it was actually helping me give up cigarettes but I was worried that the nicotine dependancy would make me a bit moody, I wasn't taking it down as it made me cough so I guess I wasn't really getting any nicotine from it anyway.... My only vice now is my cappuccino and I am allowed that as a syn!!

I know it's early days but this is the first time in my life that I actually feel in control, I am telling anyone who is interested that I have given up smoking and am now on a diet so that I would feel a fraud if I cheated.

My only concern now is that I can't believe you are allowed to eat so much on this diet, I haven't felt hungry yet, so I really hope I lose something when I weigh myself on Tuesday! I am only having 3 meals a day but I feel like I am eating more than I used to, but then it's the quality not the quantity that matters I suppose....

Only working half day today, the rest of the day will be spent planning the weekends menu/shopping list with room in my syns for a glass of wine on Saturday night. I can't believe I am actually looking forward to going food shopping! :D

Have a great weekend all!

Todays Menu:

A choice: 30g cheddar - which I have just realised I forgot to use! doh!
B choice: 60g wholemeal roll

Breakfast: Sliced Banana and Muller Light Yoghurt

Lunch: Ham salad wholemeal roll, no spread just a little light mayo (0.5 syns)

Dinner: SW chips and SW meatballs and salad.

Wow! Those chips are lovely, just cooked in the oven with one cal after par boiling, the only thing I added was a dusting of paprika, I offered to do some "fattening" chips for hubby but he wanted mine! :D

Snacks: Cappucino 3.5 syns, Alpen Light bar 2.5 syns, grapes and another banana

Total syns today 6.5

It's the weekend and I am still being good! :)

Todays Menu:

A choice: 30g cheddar
B choice: 60g wholemeal roll

Breakfast: Grilled bacon with fat cut off, grilled mushrooms, baked beans and fried egg (one cal spray)

Lunch: Ham and cheese wholemeal roll (HEXA & HEXB)

Dinner: SW Chilli con Carne (delicious!) Salad and Jacket Potato

I really missed my ketchup this morning, I know I could have had some for a few syns but I like to save the syns for as long as possible, it's nice to know they are there for the evening and then if I don't use them it's a bonus! :)

Anyway I decided to make the free SW ketchup today which turned out pretty well, I have stored some in a squeezy bottle in the fridge.

I am turning into a domestic goddess! Ha! The novelty will wear off I am sure, but I am enjoying myself while it lasts :D

Snacks: Cappucino x 2=7 syns, Alpen Light bar 2.5 syns, grapes and raspberries

Todays menu:

Lunch: Laughing cow (HEXA) Ham and Salad in a wholemeal Roll (HEXB), and some pickled onions on the side.

Dinner: Roast Chicken, One Cal Roasted Potatoes, Brocolli, Cauliflower, Carrots, Schwartz Chicken Gravy (2 Syns worth)

Snacks and Syns: Muller Light Turkish Delight Yoghurt with Raspberries, 1 x Cappucino and the gravy 5.5 syns

Good weekend for me but I decided if it was going to work I would have to be selfish, we were invited out with some friends last night for a curry and I decided to say no but told them honestly that it was because I had only just started this diet and really didn't want to break it before my first weigh in. I did say hubby should go without me but he declined too, He is being supportive but he has never had to deal with a weight problem so I think it's hard for him to understand how focused I have to be, he is 6'3" so even if he does put on a little weight now and then it hardly shows and he loses it quickly without seemingly trying!

I have a Christmas party to go to next weekend so I will have to have a night off, I can be careful with my food but the free wine is going to be the problem :/ ............the way I look at it is I was originally going to start the diet after the New Year so I would have been even worse off by then, I will do my best to keep track but will just be extra careful with my syns before and after the party.

Work again tomorrow so off to cook a jacket spud that I can reheat for lunch......

Posting to Subscribe, looks like you're doing well so far, and starting before Christmas is awesome, great mind set. Don't worry too much about the party, sometimes you need a bit of time off so you wont go and binge when you're cravings are driving you mad! Good luck! X

Got that Monday feeling...

Starting to worry about my first weigh in tomorrow :innocent0001:

On the plus side, I have a day off tomorrow and will be doing a photo walk virtually all day, just wandering about taking photos, but it's still exercise right? :)

Will post today's menu shortly when I have figured out what on earth I am going to do for tea! Organised my lunch today but didn't give a thought to dinner, oops! Have some lovely roast chicken left over so I suspect it will include that.

Tomorrow will also be exactly 4 weeks since I gave up smoking so at least I can celebrate that tomorrow.... with a diet coke and a jacket potato with beans and salad for lunch probably :D

Laters!

Okay.... Today's menu

Todays menu:

A choice: 30g cheddar
B choice: 2 Alpen light cereal bars

Breakfast: Sliced Banana, Raspberries and Muller Light Yoghurt

Lunch: Jacket Potato with baked beans and cheddar (HEX)

Dinner: Well! I made hubby a gorgeous smelling Balti Curry with some of the leftovers..... BUT I had (excuse me while I adjust my halo) chicken salad, and very nice it was too! I added some cold baked beans as I hate dry food and didn't want to use any mayo if I could help it.

Snacks: Grapes, Muller light yoghurt and my Alpen bars throughout the day.

Syns: 2 x Nescafe Cappuccino - (7 syns)

Off to pack my camera bag and make sure my batteries are all charged for tomorrow

Up early to get ready for my day out but mainly because I couldn't stop thinking about weighing myself!
I lost 3lb in my first week!! Very happy bunny :bunnydance:, I know it will slow down but I really can't believe that I lost anything as although I stuck to plan I really felt like I was eating way too much!!

Not sure how the menu will go today as I will be having lunch out - hopefully they will do salads or jacket spuds though

Have a great Tuesday!
