    Wishful Shrinking

In 2011, I lost a spectacular 56 lbs in 6 months with Slimming World, going from 18 stone to 14 stone. During 2012, I fell off the wagon and put half of it back on (still better than putting it all back on), and so I am now restarting my weight loss journey, with the additional motivation that I will be getting married this year

I'll be doing Slimming World again, as it's been my most successful diet by far to date (WW was too complicated, food combining was doomed to failure because I couldn't imagine a life without shepherd's pie, gave up on Atkins after about 10 days because I felt terrible...). As I'm in Germany, I have to do it online without the motivation of a group, but this page has been a brilliant source of support in the past, and I'm sure it will be again.

My eating habits during the day haven't actually changed all that much since I left SW last time, but my problem was and still is the evenings.. after my son is in bed, my habit was always to sit down with a cup of tea and a snack, which was all right as long it was within my syn range, and actually still all right as long as I was running 5 km three times a week, but then the snacks increased to bars of chocolate, and the exercise declined.... hey ho

Today is day 3 and I'm feeling rather rough - probably sugar detox. However, the chronic tummy pain and wind I get from fatty foods has disappeared, and my tum is already visibly flatter, so I can live with that.

I'm getting married this year too - in May so not too far away at all - scary and exciting lol! When's your big day? x

This online community is as good a support group as any sw group could be! At least you didn't put all of it back on like you said and I feel your pain of snacking on a night, thats when I can't control myself and it gets abit out of hand. It's nice when you can see results already though, thats motivation. xx

We're hoping April, but we haven't been able to set a date yet! He's a Russian in Canada and I'm a Brit in Germany, the paperwork involved is just unbelievable... Still, at least when I'm having to concentrate on forms I'm not shovelling chocolate into my cakehole....

Mind you, getting my divorce from the cockwomble I was married to for 13 years was even worse... it's far easier to get into a marriage than to get out of it...

    Good food day today...

Breakfast: Honey Loops (4.5 syns) and milk (Hex A)

Lunch: syn-free chicken casserole. For this I browned some skinless chicken breasts and shallots in Fry Light (put lots of paprika on the chicken but you can use any herbs you like) and chucked them in a roasting tin with spuds and courgettes cut into bite-size pieces. Poured 500 ml veg stock over the lot, covered it with foil, baked at 200 C for 45 mins, took off foil, swore on scalding hand in steam (this is optional), and shoved the lot back in the oven to cook for another 15 mins uncovered. Yummy, it was

Comfort food for supper: baked beans and bacon on wholemeal toast (hex B), followed by a tangerine. Tea and a choc biscuit (6 syns) after the little un had gone to bed. 10.5 syns for the day *polishes halo*

Been watching re-runs of the Biggest Loser, and am determined to get back on track with exercise. I successfully completed the Couch to 5k running program last time round, and I even started the Bridge to 10 k one, but ground to a halt last summer, when I spent 6 weeks in hospital with severe clinical depression (that's actually when most of the weight went back on - 2 weeks on Lorezapem and I blew up like a balloon!). Did you know that a 5km run (or jogflobble, in my case) can burn off 600 kcal? And honestly, if I can do it, anyone can. Brilliant, it is

Slightly brassed off today. I sneakily weighed myself this evening (although my official weigh-in day is Thursday) and found I have actually put ON a pound and a half since starting SW five days ago. Wtf - how is this possible? I lost half a stone in my first week last time round!

    Today's menu:

Breakfast - Honey Loops and milk (hex A), this is my staple breakfast and has 4.5 syns.

Lunch - rice and baked fish topped with cheese and tomato (2.5 syns)

    Afternoon snack - a banana

Supper - two small slices wholemeal bread (hex B) topped with lettuce, tomatoes and cold chicken. Fat-free yoghurt and a handful of grapes for dessert (0 syns)

"Betthupferl" (what we in Bavaria call a snack before bedtime) - cuppa and a choc biscuit (6 syns).

I hope these two pounds are just water and disappear before Thursday

Do not take notice of weigh ins during the week

I read somewhere that our bodies constantly fluctuate and there can even be a difference of upto 5lbs within 24 hours just from water etc. Thats why we should weigh at the same time each week, to get the most accurate results

Honestly, I know how hard it is not to have a sneak peak. I used to do it. Ive done it before and convinced myself id gained when id lost at official weigh in, and the other way around to! Its dangerous because it can make us lose hope if you are disappointed with the inaccurate result, or it can make us a little cocky if we think weve lost and then "that one little treat wont hurt". Its not worth it, so I dont bother now!

5 lbs! I now have this mental vision of splashing whenever I take a step...

Wise words though, thank you. I shall banish the scales to the dust bunnies under the bed.
