Hi everyone!

My name is Sophie and i have recently found out i am pregnant with my 1st baby, due date 25th June! I am sooo excited but my weight is my getting me down. I finished uni in June and during my time there managed to put on about 4 and a half stone

I currently weight 16 stone 7 although over the past few weeks this seems to have fluctuated up and down quite a bit, last week the highest was 16 stone 10 . When i first found out i was pregnant i visited my midwife who told me my BMI was 39 putting me in the high risk category, meaning i would also need appointments with a consultant. I have been given extra Vitamin D to take as well as aspirin to reduce my chances of pre-eclampsia. Has anyone else had similar?

I have read that if my bmi is below 30 i will no longer be classed as high risk, this seems a long way off and i am sure it is probably unachievable whilst pregnant  I would like to try and loose 1lb a week so roughly 2 stone by due date, so hopefully I am feeling better about myself and labour may not be as risky :). I am going to follow slimming world loosely, i usually have porridge/fruit for breakfast a sandwich and 3/4 bits of fruit for lunch and then a slimming world recipe dinner. My job often makes it difficult to stick to plan 100% so I am just going to aim to stick to everything when I can. I would love to be able to see in New Year next year as a size 10 weighing 10 stone :D:D:D!

I hope everyone else is having a lovely pregnancy!

Hi Sophie,

CONGRATULATIONS!

Just want to say SW is probably the best choice you can make to lose or maintain you weight in a healthy way while pregnant. They have special plan for pregnant women so you get to have 2 Hex A & B choices to make sure you are getting the amount of food you need in a healthy way (and boosting your calcium intake)

I have 2 kids (2 1/2 and 20 months) I managed to stick to SW a lot through my first pregnancy and stayed the same weight throughout. My second was a lot more complicated and I PILED on the weight (which is why I'm doing SW again now) I too had all those extra appointments etc too with both of mine.

What do you do for a living just out of curiosity, but you may also find someone in a similar job who can share food ideas with you.

Hi, thank you and well done on your weight loss you are doing amazingly!

I have maintained so far so i am hoping even if i can't lose any more weight I will be able to maintain during my pregnancy.

I work in marketing so I have a lot of business lunches and things, which makes it hard to eat slimming world friendly food. For example, yesterdays menu was ok apart from lunch grrr....

Breakfast: crumpet and banana
lunch: lasagne and salad
dinner: pork chops, mashed potato and veg
snacks: a few haribo

We went to an italian place and it was either really cheesy pasta, pizza or lasagne haha.

Today I am in the office and have made myself a massive fruit salad for lunch.

xx

Thank you :)

I remember working in marketing all that eating out can be a nightmare! Could you maybe opt for chicken/fish/steak and veg instead? Or risotto? Even pasta in a tomato based sauce would be a good choice.

For your breakfast could you switch your crumpet for WM bread? You can use it as your HexB instead of a syn and with you being pregnant you could have 4 slices from a little nanna loaf! The wholemeal choice will help you feel fuller for longer and the fibre will be good for you and little bump :) Will a fruit salad be enough to fill you? I always worry about people not eating enough on this plan haha
