Onwards and Downwards to a healthier me

Well here I go. Time to stop messing around and actually get foccussed on losing weight once and for all.

A bit of background. I am 46 years old with 2 children and a DH. I have been 'dieting' since I was about 20 and have at various points in my life been very slim (size 8) to my current (size 18). I feel unhealthy and lethargic most of the time, and despite 'following' the SW plan since March I really have lost nothing. when I say 'following' I know that this is not true and had I been sticking to plan I would have probably lost loads by now.

Anyway a fresh start and getting my head into the zone. I want to lose 5 stone which would bring me in at just under 10stone. Given my height and age this is a weight I would feel comfortable at.

My DH is very supportive and has actually being doing better than me by eating the same dinners as me, it's just all the other meals and snacks that I eat that are not making me do as well.

so huge line drawn and plan has been done for the rest of this week. I weigh in on a Friday morning so I would be grateful to lose at least 1lb this week by having 4 days on plan.

Menu for tomorrow is EE:

breakfast: banana, ryvita (HEb) with Philadelphia lightest (HeA) and tomato, DG coffee (2.5 syns)

lunch: SW quiche with ham, mushrooms and peppers, ML yoghurt and satsuma

dinner: sticky sesame beef (3 syns) with rice and stir fry veg

snack: snack a jacks (5 syns) and carrot sticks

syns: 10.5

Thanks Denise. I lost weight before with SW after my first son was born and then life got in the way. I think getting my head around EE is taking a while but I need to stop taking liberties and do it 100%. I do SW from home with just support from here. I did initially sign on online but spent £90 for 3 months memberships and did not lose anything so decided to do it on my own for now and then once I get into the swing of it I may join a group in the New Year.

Didn't get a chance to post yesterday but my menu ended up more like this

Breakfast: omlette with mushrooms and tomatoes DG coffee (2.5 syns)
snack snak a jacks (5 syns), satsuma
lunch: 3 x ryvita (HeB), Philly (HEa), carrot batons, ml yoghurt
dinner: steak, mushrooms, onions in pepper sauce (3 syns) with SW chips

syns 10.5

today's plan is

breakfast: toast (HEb) and peanut butter (5 syns), DG coffee (2.5 syns)
snack: satuma and alpen light (3 syns)
lunch: sw quiche with bacon, peppers and onions, Ml yoghurt
dinner: sw chicken curry with rice and veg
supper: forest fruits and natural yoghurt

syns should be about 10.5

Food looks good! :)
I lost weight with SW too years ago and that was doing the red/green days
Took me a while to get this extra easy too
But now I find it really good , only difference seems you only get 1 of each healthy extras
And what was free before on red/green are both free on EE
Bit more versatile I think:)
It's only occasional I turn to a green day should I want another HE of each :)

Well today was pretty on plan no deviations

breakfast: toast (HEb) and peanut butter (5 syns), DG coffee (2.5 syns)
snack: satuma and alpen light (3 syns)
lunch: sw quiche with bacon, peppers and onions, Ml yoghurt
dinner: sw chicken curry with rice and veg

not sure I can manage the fruit and yoghurt so shall leave that I think

syns: 10.5

Tomorrow the plan is for:

Breakfast: DG coffee (2.5 syns), 3 x ryvita (HEb), Philly (HEa) and ham and tomatoes
snack: satsuma, snack a jacks (5 syns)
lunch: second half of quiche, ML yoghurt, carrots sticks
dinner: quorn peppered steak, baked potato and veg
supper: fruit and nat yoghurt

syns around 8.5 - oh quite low may have something extra with tea e.g some cheese on my BP but I will see.

Have also started doing some jobs around the house in the evening as I normally get home, unpack my bags and the boys school bags, sort homework etc, do dinner and then after dinner sit down for the evening. But this week I have been doing stuff after tea and therefore sitting down later which is good and it is keeping me moving longer.

I have also been trying to drink more water at home in the evening as even though I do quite well with fluids during the day I am bad for not drinking anything after tea. Probably be up half the night weeing lol.

Didn't get a chance to come on last night as things very busy at home but managed to stay on plan which I am pleased about.

Today was also good.

Breakfast - ryvita with tomatoes and ham, DG coffee (2.5 syns)
snack; satsuma and snack a jacks (5 syns)
lunch: chicken and rice with carrot batons, ML youghurt
dinner; pasta with sauce and cheese (HEa)

was planning to have some fruit this evening but am not hungry and am really tired so I will skip it. I will weigh in tomorrow morning and see if I have managed to limit the damage from last weekend.

Thanks NewMe14.

I lost 2lbs this morning so I am delighted. I would have been happy to sts as I had a really bad weekend before I got my head back into gear. So a good week is planned for this week although I am having a chinese on either Saturday or Sunday as my brother and his family are visiting from England and we are all going out for a chinese.

Plan for today is:

breakfast: omlette with mushrooms and peppers, banana
snack: 2 x alpen lights (HEb) and satsuma
Lunch: tukey and bacon salad, snack a jacks (5 syns) and ML youghurt
dinner: cold meat, camambert and crips with dip (my off plan weigh in night).

No wine tonight (normally have a few glasses on a Friday and Saturday night) as I am trying to give up my wine until xmas just to help boost the loss. Not having a HeA so can use that for some of the syns that will be in the camabert.

Thanks Denise am really pleased as I was only expecting to STS after my awful weekend. Am about to start menu planning for the week as I know that we are having a chinese on Saturday now so can plan around that.

I have doone my menu plan for this week and off to do the shopping in a moment. Looking forward for my chinese tonight but not sure what I will have. Probably noodles with something. I love Special fried Rice but I made the fakeaway book one and loved it so much I don't think I would get a takeaway one again. I will probably go for chicken and cashew nuts with noodles as that is one of my favourites. Anyway better get a move on as I need to get the shopping, get DS2 haircut and sort lunch before we go out.

Well had an okay day today foodwise and will have a glass or two of wine tonight but I am pretty shattered as I was awake quite a lot last night so I may end up with just the one. Ended up with DH and I sharing a cantonese chicken and a chicken curry with noodles. Probably not the healthiest option but it was very tasty and I couldn't manage it all so that was another bonus.

I was having a think today. I was getting ready to go out and I was looking at my toiletries ( I have a three drawer storage unit in my cupboard which has my toiletries, skin care and nail varnish stuff in it) and was thinking oh I won't use that it is too good for a couple of my nice toiletrie sets. Then I thought what is it too nice for as I am going out to see family I haven't seen for a while. It then struck me that what I meant was 'it is too nice for me'. Now I do wear make up and I get the roots of my hair done but in terms of 'pampering' myself that is about it. I have loads of nice nail varnishes, toiletries etc and yet I don't use them. So I have decided that I will use these because I am worth it.

I maybe need to have a look into reading a book or two about self esteem and self worth as I think these are two areas that I need to change in my personality.

Thanks Denise

Well last night I used the No7 Glycolic peel which I have had for donkeys but never opened (actually have checked online and they don't even make it anymore ). It was good and I will definately be doing it on a regular basis. I also opened up a new night time moisturiser and have put it by my bedside to make sure I use it everynight. I'm fine at moisturising in the morning before I put my makeup on but not good at night.

so far a good food day today

breakfast: omlette with mushrooms and tomatoes
snack: satsuma
lunch: ryvita and philly with ham, ML yoghurt and grapes
dinner: chicken and stir fry veg with mushy pea curry and rice

syns quite low today as I have not had anything with syns in it so far but may have some snack a jacks later if I fancy something to eat. Feel I have now paid of syns I had in my chinese on Saturday so will go back to my normal 15 a day from tomorrow.

i'm terrible about moisturiser at night too, but when i do my skin feels Soooo good :), you'd think that would make it happen more regularly but no, lol

We can only try these things like cut back on syns when we've overdone it :)..... if it works it's good:D

Well had a bit of a nightmare day today. DS2 was up for 2 hours last night as he has started a cold - wee sausage. Then when I got back to bed I couldn't sleep as I was coughing myself. So one very sleep deprived me in the end missing 3 hours sleep in total - aaarrrrgh.

Breakfast - ryvita, philly and tomatoes
snack - satsuma
lunch - salmon, rice and veg, ML yoghurt

now this is where things went a bit pear shaped. I had a bit of a headache when I came home and really could not be
bothered. DH was away which was also a mitigating factor. DS1 said he wasn't hungry and as DS2 has just come down with the cold I figured comfort food for us three was the way to go. So sausages and oven chips were on the agenda:eek:. Have to say I did stick to the LM red onion ones but really should not have had oven chips so not good.

Mind you boys both loved it so that was cool.

New day tomorrow and I know I will probably have a STS now on Friday which I can accept, as long as I don't do anything else daft!!

Did not get on to post yesterday as I was seriosly sleep deprived so took myself of to bed when DS1 went to bed.

Had a sts this week as predicted, but it was a mixed up week as DH was only here for one night of dinner as he has been working away this week so that kind of threw me out. Plus the sleeplessness with DS2 coming down with a cold didn't help. Well enough of the excuses as I could still have stuck to my plan. So I will roll this week's plan over to next week with a couple of small tweeks for this things we did eat and then start afresh.

I really want to lose 10lbs by xmas as that would take me down into the next stone barrier and give me a couple of lbs leeway to start the new year. So we have just under 5 weeks will have to be mega strict with myself. I only have two nights out planned and I am sticking at those. One next weekend to see the War of the Worlds stage show and the following weekend as a night out with work.
