21 weeks to lose 3 stone and run a marathon...

Target140

Nom nom nom
Hi! I've just turned forty and have put on 3 stone in the last two years. I've been a regular runner for ages but a foot injury and a broken treadmill (single parent - sometimes the only way I can get a run in) meant I've had a lot of time off.

I've tried every diet under the sun, but am determined to get to goal on slimming world.
I have signed up for the Brighton Marathon on 12th April (even though I can only run 2 miles at the mo!) and booked my first beach holiday in a very long time for August. I'm hoping these goals will motivate me to shift the lbs.

I'm joining the club tomorrow but am starting today...nothing like a Monday for a fresh start and I really don't need any more excuses to stuff my face for another day!

Wish me luck!

How have you found your first day? I'm joining class on Wednesday. Very excited to get stuck in!

First day good...but it's normally the third or fourth day I struggle...usually coz of lack of planning and hunger taking over, or being knackered and thinking oh sod it I'll start again tomorrow.

Am slightly annoyed that I'm eating out tomorrow eve, but I didn't want to wait til wed to start, so I'll just be a little careful and go carefully on my syns the rest of the week.

So are you officially starting thurs?

Yep in joining a class wed so il try and be quite good wed but start properly on Thursday. I'm at a christening in Sunday as well, not what I needed on my first week really!

Yay so am under way! I weighed in at 13.8.5 which is a bit less than I thought I would.

I then went out to eat, to a Chinese buffet...so now on best behaviour for the rest of the week.

Ex - 2.2 mile run

B - 2 boiled eggs, banana, skinny cappuccino (A) - first time I've gone for a cappuccino coz it had less milk! Baby steps...

L - new potatoes and bean & veg stew

T - Chinese buffet, choc (a zillion syns)

I did notice that I hoovered food at the buffet so I need to slow down my eating. I eat so fast it's almost embarrassing! So that's a goal for this week - eat slower!!

I'm the same I eat so fast! I find myself watching other people im with and thinking why are they eating so slow! Hurry up! Ha

Apart from the chinese buffet your menu so far is good. It's also good that you chose a different coffee because of the milk content which shows you're already making better choices. Woooo go you :) x

One thing I didn't mention yesterday was that at the buffet yesterday I blacked out twice and the paramedics were called. Don't know what caused it, but I'm feeling v tired and drained today and am not at work. It's played havoc with today's food a bit because I'm definitely wanting certain things...carbs in particular. I guess that's what's good about slimming world...at least I can have them!

So today is a green day:

Ex: none

V late breakfast: bought minestrone soup (Hexb), toast (Hexb), 1/2 Apple

Lunch baked potato and veg / aduki bean stew

Snack - skinny latte (hexa), walkers based crisps (5) cucumber

Tea - SW chips & omelette, liberte yoghurt (1) tea with milk (1)

Syns: 7

Happy with today as it was on plan but felt like I ate a huge amount of carbs....

I have a hellish day at work tomorrow, 8-8 as its parents eve, so I'm going to formulate a plan now:

RED day

B - muesli (Hexb) with yoghurt & honey (1), Apple

L - kale, onion & cheese frittata (1/2 hexA), fruit

S - more frittata (1/2 hexA) skinny latte (hexA)

S - if needed 2 alpen light bars (Hexb)

T - stir fry chicken & veg

S - peanut hottie (4)

Syns 5

What's a peanut hottie? Sounds nice x

Today hasn't worked out as planned because I was rushed this morning so didn't get time to make my frittata to take into work. Never mind, I managed to get through the day without it :)

Red day

Exercise: 2.3 mile run

B - banana, skinny latte (hexa), bread roll (Hexb)
S - tea tsp sugar and milk (2)
L - bread (Hexb), smoked salmon, salad leaves
S - praline skinny latte (hexa and 3 syns)
T - chicken stir fry, 1/2 multipack twirl (4.5)

Total syns 9.5

Sounds lovely, your menu for today was nice too. How you finding it? x

Unbelievable, If I'm honest! I can't believe I'm going to lose weight eating like this! I also can't believe I had chicken stir fry tonight....and stopped when I was full! Normally I eat until I'm stuffed - if it's there I'll eat it!

I really hope this works coz I'm liking it so far! Planning is going to be an issue tho!

Today was rushed and disorganised, again! I am going to spend Sunday afternoon organising myself this week which I know will help. I know I wouldn't have eaten the flapjack today if I'd had more fruit or snacks available. Changing habits is not easy!

Red day

Ex: 1 hour bike ride

B - smoked salmon & wholemeal roll (hexb) I love that smoked salmon is half price near Christmas :) so yummy, filling & free!

L - smoked salmon & wholemeal roll (hexb), salad

S - 2 small skinny lattes (hexa x 2), flapjack (11 syns)

T - green Thai curry made with chicken, veg and coconut milk (cooked for me so hard to say no! And a small serving of rice - synned because I've had my healthy extras...(22 syns!!!)

Syns for the day: 33!!!!! Oops...

Oh well, tomorrow is a new day. I'm probably going to go over my suns tomorrow night as I have a night out but will get back on track the day after

Tbh I know I was over syns, but on Friday night is the only night of the week (usually) that I don't cook for myself and the kids and it usually turns into a "treat night" - it's always worse from me than any other night...Here's what I'd normally have in a fri:

- breakfast
- morning break - 1-2 jam doughnuts (doughnut day at work - I didn't have any)
- fish & chips for lunch (I had a smoked salmon roll - hexb with salad)
- no exercise (I cycled for an hour)
- cake and a full fat latte at a cafe with my friend (flapjack and skinny latte this time - half the calories)
- half a bag of tyrells crisps and nearly a whole tub of guacamole pre dinner (I skipped this completely)
- large main course (I cut down on the rice portion and weighed it out to syn it)
- pudding - tonight's would have been apple crumble and custard (I skipped this completely)
- beer or wine (I had water)

So all in all firstly it's no wonder I was gaining weight, and secondly I'm pleased with my choices and that going over in syns didn't leave me saying oh sod it!

Next week though I'm going to drink more water and add in more superfree...:)
