The Diary of a SW Foodie

I posted yesterday in the wrong place so here I am again, trying to do it right!

I've been with Slimming World for four weeks, yesterday was my fifth weigh in, and I am really encouraged. I weighed myself at home (as I always do) and I weigh the least I have in over a year! What an easy weight loss/life change this program is!! When I got to SW and weighed in I had lost 1.5 pounds and made my first 1/2 stone loss! Woo hoo!

About five years ago I lost about 70 pounds (5 stone), on my own with counting calories, and over the past two years have gained 20 pounds (1.6 stone) back. I refuse to allow myself to go back to where I was so I have joined SW to take control before it is too late. I had originally wanted to lose another stone (in addition to the 5) but never got around to it so hopefully, with SW, I can lose that bit extra and get down to my personal ideal weight. (Which is still at the high end of "normal" but I don't want to be skinny, just healthy.)

A little more info about me, I am 51, an American living in Scotland, divorced but living with the love of my life, a mom, a gramma and I work full time. My baby is 17 and lives with me and my partner, will finish secondary school this year and is looking at his options for uni next year. I have my BA and an MLitt.

I hope to keep track of what's working and what isn't on here, get encouragement when I need it, and encourage others who may be struggling.

Hope you all have a great SW 100% day!

Nikki

Welcome to the forum, you sound like you're doing very well x

So nice and happy to hear your determination and story. I have just joined today and am new to this forum. I have been on slimming world 3 weeks tomorrow. 3lbs lost so far. Weigh in tomorrow so fingers crossed I've lost some more.
I am 38 yrs old, married to a Scot from Aberdeen and have a 9 yr old boy who has mild autism. Love him to bits.
Feeling so much better in myself for sticking to this diet as I get bored easily.
Hoping others can encourage me to keep going on here.

Welcome!!! Hope you have a great weigh in!!

I cannot believe how easy this is, for me anyway. As long as I stay away from the sweets I'm golden. I can't have just one so I have to say no to all! We are going to Portugal for Christmas so I hope I don't undo all the good while I am there!

I will encourage you, just give me a shout!

Sunday, I had two eggs, 2 slices of sliced ham and 1 slice of wholemeal toast (HEb) for breakfast and lots of sugar free squash throughout the day. Then, I made a ham in the slow cooker, with mashed potatoes made with M & S light soft cheese with pepper (HEa), and with carrots and green beans for the Super free. I made gravy for the two men in my life since they do not need to lose weight.

Monday, I had FF plain Greek Yoghurt with a mashed banana for breakfast. Lunch was a (microwave) baked potato with homemade chili on top. Dinner was Omelette made with egg, quark, mature cheddar (HEa) and leftover ham from last night with whomemeal toast (HEb) and plain salad for my super free. Snacks through out the day were 2 apples, 2 satsumas, 2 carrots and a bit of cucumber. I had sugar free squash and coffee to drink.

Tuesday, I had 35g porridge (HEb) made with water and a bit of Stevia for breakfast. Lunch was a salad with bagged salad mix, some cucumber and some sliced chicken on top and a ff Activia yoghurt. Dinner will be homemade (in the slow cooker) Pea and Ham soup (made with the last of the lefotover ham from Sunday) and a ff Activia yoghurt for dessert. Sugar free squash to drink (and lots of coffee . . . always). Snacks were three small apples and a satsuma.

Tuesday is grocery shopping night after work so we always have soup for tea because I put it in the slow cooker before I go to work. That way, when I come in starving, there is no urge to just nibble my way through all the bad things!

Wednesday, well, I did not have the second yoghurt yesterday, no need for it after tea. Tonight is weigh in so hoping it is good news!

Breakfast, FF Activia yoghurt and pineapple spears.

Lunch, rocket salad with chicken and ham (wafer thin slices, cut up) and FF Helmann's Italian dressing.

Tea will be after weigh in and is cheese on toast, one of my favourites but saved for a Wednesday night. 2 thin slices of wholemeal toast with 30g mature cheddar cheese for my HEa and HEb.

Snacks today are two apples and two satsumas and another yoghurt if I feel the need.

Drinks are coffee (black) and sf squash. If weigh in goes well, I may have a 1/2 pint of beer or a small glass of wine after. (4 syns)

Weigh in last night showed me one pound down so a total of 8 lost, woo hoo. I'm happy with that. I had a half pint of stout last night for four syns and I bought my first ever box of HiFi light bars, two actually. I bought the Rocky Road and the Chocolate Crisp. My partner and I shared one of each to try them and we fancy the Chocolate Crisp more than the Rocky Road. So that was three more syns for a total of seven syns yesterday.

Today, it is yoghurt and fruit for breakfast. Salad with cold meat for lunch, fruit for snacks and another yoghurt if I want. Tea is going to be bacon rolls, using a wholemeal roll as my HEb. We have leftover veg and potatoes in the fridge so will use those up tonight as well.

Hope you all are doing well. Keep going, baby steps will reach the goal!

Friday! My work always does Gregg's Bacon Rolls for Friday morning, 18 syns but I do take all the fat off my bacon so it is probably a bit less. I still count them all though, better to over estimate than under! (I didn't use any syns yesterday so I am still well within my limit for two days) Lunch is two Activia FF Yoghurts and some cut up fruit (apple and satsumas). Tea is going to be Tuna Melts with tuna mixed with ff Greek yoghurt, onion, capers, whole grain mustard (1/2 syn split between two) on whole meal toast (HEb) topped with mature cheddar cheese (HEa) and put under the grill until the cheese melts. We will have rocket salad with pickled veg on the side as our 1/3 super free. Yummo!

How are you all doing? I am really trying to do well leading up to Christmas because we are going to Portugal and I will not be counting my syns too much while we are there. I'm going to try to be reasonably smart so hopefully I don't do too much damage! Next week will be rough because we have a lot of Christmas stuff on at the work. Tuesday is nibbles and drinks in the afternoon, Wednesday is the department lunch and Friday is Christmas lunch and disco for the whole office. I have my lunch planned out for the Wednesday and I am going to try to do the same for the Friday. Hopefully I can resist the nibbles and the drinks knowing I will have some treats on Wednesday and Friday.

Hi N... Im almost 51 ...a few more months and love the USA...so we have a lot in common already

Nice, have you ever been? We go once a year because all my kids but one stay there, as well as my parents. This summer we went to Hawaii which was beautiful.

Hi Nikki. Popping by to sub.

Baby steps is the best way to go. I'm a firm believer that the slow losers are the ones who do best in the long run as SW habits become ingrained. I also think it's important to enjoy our time off and learn how to get back on plan immediately afterwards. As you know from my diary, I've just had a few days away where I've over indulged (but not as much as I would have done pre SW) and I'm now looking to have some 100% days until Christmas starts!

Me & OH went to the US this August , got married At Sturgis, South Dakota :)

You guys must be bikers! Very nice, glad you enjoyed it.

We are too, we ride a Honda Firestorm (1000).
