Finally on the weight loss wagon

So after putting off the inevitable for months I finally went to a group on Monday evening. 7 stone to lose sounds daunting but I've seen plenty of success stories on here so I'm willing to give it a go. I've been extremely busy all week so I've not had chance to do a proper shopping trip and I'm muddling through a bit but here's what I've had so far:

Tuesday
Breakfast: 2 weetabix (heb) with milk (hea) and blueberries (thought these were speed food but apparently not - yummy though)
Lunch: Cous cous, cooked chicken, spring onions, tomatoes and mushrooms (6 syns for 1 tbspn oil to cook the mushrooms as asda were out of frylight). Apple for dessert.
Dinner: Jacket potato, garlic & herb baked beans (2 syns for full tin) and side salad.
No snacks, drinks were diet pepsi and tea/coffee with milk from hea allowance.
Total 8 syns

Wednesday
Breakfast: Apple
Lunch: M&S prawn layer salad - small (5.5 syns)
Dinner: Smoked salmon, scrambled eggs, spinach, 2 slices 400g brown toast (heb). Dessert of strawberries, blueberries and fat free natural yoghurt.
Post-lunch snack of an apple and drinks of tea with milk from hea allowance.
Total 5.5 syns

Thursday
No breakfast - overlaid (oops!)
Lunch: M&S prawn layer salad - small (5.5 syns). Cafe was all out of potatoes and I daren't buy anything I wasn't sure of the syns value. Dessert - apple.
Dinner: SW ultimate burger with 40g reduced fat cheddar (hea) and wholemeal roll (heb), sw chips and side salad. Dessert of strawberries and fat free natural yoghurt.

So far so good. I've not felt hungry or deprived of food at all. Looking forward to doing a big shop on Saturday after some proper meal planning to get some variety in my meals and hopefully a nice loss on the scales on Monday :)

Today has been much harder for me than the others so far. I feel bad that it's only three days in but I spent the day at a work training course with food all around and free alcohol provided at the end of the day but I skipped everything as I wasn't sure about the syn values. Hopefully this gets easier as I get used to the new eating habits? Any advice on how to deal with days like these would be appreciated.

The food I allowed myself for the day was:

Breakfast: Apple (this was the 'veggie option' while others tucked into bacon butties)
Lunch: Cooked chicken breast, lettuce, tomato, cucumber
Dinner: SW recipe lamb rogan josh with tomatoes and mushrooms. Boiled rice.
Supper: Realised I'd had no HEs so had wholemeal toast with egg, bacon and cheese on as a bit of a treat. 1 tbsp ketchup (1 syn).

Tomorrow is a new day and it's finally big shop day so I have some meal planning to get done.

Good day today :)

Had a nice cooked breakfast: eggs, bacon, loads of mushrooms and tomatoes and a couple of Asda low fat sausages (3 syns + 1 syn for the ketchup).

Found a recipe for salmon fishcakes on the SW website and they tasted amazing and only 2 syns served with SW chips. Apple for dessert to push up the speed foods.

HEA was skimmed milk for my cups of tea and HEB was 2 slices of wholemeal bread with the breakfast. Lots of food stocked in for the week now. Hope Monday brings a loss to help boost my confidence.

Mmmm lots of tasty Sunday food today. Who would have thought it was possible when you're trying to lose weight???

Breakfast was cooked again (well it is the weekend after all). Bacon, egg, two slices of brown toast (heb) and two reduced fat sausages (3 syns). Ketchup added an extra syn.

For lunch I had cous cous soaked in chicken stock and mixed with loads of veggies. Pepper, spring onion, tomatoes and cucumber and then a few pieces of cooked chicken for protein. I made enough for lunch tomorrow so hopefully that will put me on until after weigh-in.

For dinner I attempted to make my traditional beef stew but adapt it to SW. Beef dusted in 1 tbsp flour (1 syn) and browned in fry light then covered in stock with carrots and onions. I would usually use more flour so it wasn't as thick but I added 3 tspns gravy granules (3 syns) and it was fine. Served this with mash potatoes made with fat free fromage frais. Very nice although I did miss the dumplings. Split between two of us this was about 2 syns.

I did get hungry later on so made an omelette packed with more veggies. I felt bad eating late so tried to stick to free and speed foods. Hopefully this is where the SW plan comes into it's own and I won't have damaged my chances at a loss tomorrow.

HEA was milk used in my hot drinks all day. Full day was 6 syns. Not too bad considering they were substantial meals.

First weigh-in tomorrow. Fingers crossed for a loss, big or small. I'm not sure I'd have the willpower to persevere if I gained.

Best of luck with your journey. Hope weigh in was good :).

Keep up the good work :)

Just got back from my weigh in. I somehow managed to lose 7 lbs! I'm so chuffed :)

Started with Weetabix (HEB) and milk (HEA) today.
Lunch was leftovers from yesterdays cous cous salad with some added fat free cottage cheese.
For dinner I butterflied a chicken breast, covered with peri peri seasoning and grilled then served with pasta and homemade tomato and veg sauce.

No syns today, not by choice just happened to eat free food all day. I've started making packed lunches now so that's helping the work situation. Locked myself away from the copious amounts of domino's pizza at work today and enjoyed the cous cous.

Looking forward to more good food tomorrow.

Not much to report today. Skipped brekkie then a lunchtime meeting overran so didn't get chance for lunch either. Made up for it tonight with a massive feast of SW recipe double cheeseburger (hea + heb), jacket spud with cottage cheese and stir-fried spinach and mushrooms. Packed lunch now made to avoid this tomorrow!

I will next time I make it. It wasn't on the plate five minutes before it was gone! The recipe goes something like this:

400g extra lean mince, 1 diced onion, 1 crushed garlic clove, handful of parsley chopped, salt, pepper and worcester sauce to taste. Whizz it all up in a food processor to bind then shape into four burgers. Cooked on the griddle for about 8-10 mins either side. They are still very juicy and you can add whatever toppings you have to hand (fried egg is nice).

Yesterday's food diary:

Lunch: Chicken salad w/ half an avocado (roughly 7 syns based on weight)
Snack: Crabstick sandwich (heb for the bread) w/ fat free fromage frais instead of butter
Dinner: Peri-peri chicken with savoury rice, onion, peppers and mushrooms.

Thank you :)

Today I had an accidental sp day. Didn't find much difference until this evening when I was famished (may have been the pint I had!).

Lunch was a chicken sandwich (heb) with lots of lettuce on it.
For dinner I was in a rush post-work and pre-pub so I cooked off some frozen veggies (mushrooms and peppers) then made a frittata and served with a salad.
Went to a comedy club and had a pint of lager (11.5 syns) then switched to diet coke and avoided the communal onion rings on the table
When I got home I was so hungry I made an egg butty (2nd heb). Had plenty of tea and coffee with milk for my hea throughout the day.

I haven't really found myself hungry on the normal EE days so think I will be sticking with those going forward.

Today's menu:

B - Apple
L - Chicken and lettuce sandwich (heb), apple
D - Homemade lamb curry (4 syns) and rice, mullerlight.

This weekend has been hard. All I wanted to do was snack all the time. Tried to keep on plan but I can tell the weight loss won't be great. So I had:

Saturday
B: 2 x Asda low fat pork sausages (1.5 syns each), 2 x eggs, tomatoes and mushrooms.
L: Chicken sandwich (heb), orange and a muller light yoghurt
D: Steak, SW chips, broccoli and cauliflower and 1 tbspn ketchup (1 syn)
Snack: Really hungry so had beans and ham on toast late last night :( (6 syns for the toast)
Drank tea and coffee all day - milk was hea.
Total syns = 10

Sunday
B: Sausage and egg sandwich w/ ketchup (heb + 4 syns) and an orange
L: Twice baked jacket potato mixed with tuna and fat free fromage frais
D: SW beef lasagne (cheese was hea) and a muller light yoghurt
S: Ham and mushroom omelette.
Had a coffee this morning with a couple of dashes of skimmed milk (about 1 syn??)
Total syns = 5

Dreading the scales tomorrow now. Fingers crossed.

that doesn't look too bad?
Good luck for weigh in!

have you thought about making some syn free snacks to have to hand?
I make syn free mini quiches, syn free ,curry loaf, and chocolate scan bran cake @1.5 syns a slice :).....there are other things you could make too, like syn free pancakes?
