Chocolate Chickpea Cake - a warning

Don't try making it without the golden syrup or baking powder (had already opened the tin of chickpeas before I realised we'd run out).

    Smells divine, tastes properly rank.

I know. Was well miffed. But dude, even WITH the syrup, and I must say you HAVE to use Splenda, AND make sure you buy chickpeas in water not brine, it's really not that nice. I made a carrot one and it just tasted of sweet egg and chickpeas. Gurgh.

    Cous cous cake is better.

Splenda rather than any other sort of sweetner ?

Picked this one as thought it sounded really easy and BritMum raved about it ...

Yeah I used regular tesco splenda the first time and had my syrup in it too and it wasn't that nice, quite bitter. SMELLED delicious like you say though.

made the carrot one with Splenda and it was much sweeter, but it was still sweetened flavoured chickpeas.

I took it to group and they all loved it though? So dunno. Anyway, chickpea cake not for me I decided.
