I could be as good as gold if I didnt have 2 kids.....the snacks and chocolates and sweets and leftovers prove to be too much of a temptation ![]() Any tips on increasing my will power?? Not buying the food would be the sensible answer but to be honest my kids are great with food and eat whatever they are given so I feel they deserve the odd treat now and again.....maybe I shouldn't buy MULTIPACKS - But it's cost effective |

Lol. I do buy snacks that I can eat though, rather than things she fancies, so there is a compromise. We have the Asda cheese curls 3.5 syns a pack, curly wurly multi packs 6.5 syns each and Cadbury fudge 5 syns. As for biscuits, my Hubby just gets his favourites which I cant stand - bourbons, so he and Daughter can eat those and Im not tempted. |

When I buy crisps it's Walkers square crisps or French Fries so I can have them too if I want. I make my daughter either choc chip cookies or choc chip muffins once a week. But on the whole she's not allowed a treat everyday, otherwise it stops being a treat and she'll end up in the same boat as me when she gets older. She is allowed cakes and/or biscuits, chocolate at the weekend. She has something sweet after her main meal after school during the week such as a yoghurt or a muffin, but she doesn't have sweeties or chocolate during the middle of the week.

I don't have the stuff in the house. I just send her to the shop on a saturday with 50p and she can buy whatever choccie bar she wishes. I make flapjack or banana muffins each weekend for packed lunch for her and I syn these from the ingredients if I want one! Other than that, I have rich tea or ginger nut biccies in the house (2 syns each) and we all have those. I don't ever buy crisps for the storecupboard and I've never allowed them in her packed lunch. God I sound so mean!

Like you I make muffins. Either choc chip or banana and choc. She is allowed one in her packed lunch. If she has crisps it's the low syns ones that we can all have. I don't agree with giving sweets or crisps as a snack. She only ever has a muffin or crisps as part of her packed lunch. If she wants a snack she has fruit. She also has wholewheat bread, low fat spread, low fat mayo, semi skimmed milk, low fat yoghurts, low fat dairylea, reduced sugar jam and sw chips. She does sometimes have oven chips with fish fingers if we're having something that she won't eat, such as Chilli. I want her to eat sensibly and to develop good eating habits for when she is older. She has 2 pieces of fruit in her packed lunch too. One for with her dinner and one for a snack mid morning. I make sure she has plenty of calcium foods such as cheese, yoghurts, milk etc She only has sugar in her muffin, fruit and chocolate or ice cream at the weekend. She doesn't need any additional sugar, there's plenty in her fruit. She also has brown pasta with the rest of us, she doesn't like rice.

I have always cooked from scratch and my kids grew up with nutritious homecooked foods so never became fussy eaters (I believe thats why anyway) My husband is the fussy eater infact and shuns anything remotely good for him, yet he is as skinny as can be??!!! I think my husband and my love of browsing food isles are the real problems not my kids!!!! |

I'm sure there's more than a few of us on here that got where we are because we look on food as something to comfort, reward or celebrate with. |

Snacks chocolates and sweets can only be eaten as part of the plan. Syn them, or don't eat them. It really IS that simple. Leftovers belong in the bin, or recycle, or on the bird table. Your body is not a place where you should be dumping half-eaten rubbish! Yes...Stop telling yourself that you "shouldn't" eat things and start telling yourself that you simply DON'T eat them. I did that with bread. I don't eat bread now, pure and simple. I don't eat unsynned sweets, or crisps. Yoda should be a SW consultant..."Do or do not" he said "There is no try". Quote:
They probably DO deserve them...So why are you bl00dy eating them? Quote:
