So I am trying meal planning this week, I'm just about to go shopping, so will get some frozen stuff and bulk cook. I'm not weighing on Tuesday because I just know I havent lost. So I may just start anew. I'm finding it hard incorporating my meals with everyone elses. My dh likes to eat late my kids come home from school starving, and I get fed up of cooking for my self. My kids are a bit fussy and my dh is just a typical meat and tatties west coaster lol. I cant eat meat everyday but it seems to be what everyone else wants. So I think I am just going to start again, properly trying EE and meal planning. I'm going to become selfish and SW obsessed but I cant see any other way. Also I am going to have my main meal at lunch time see if that helps. I seem to have issues with feeling full up too. I hate the feeling of being full, but hate the thought of leaving food on my plate. I suppose 15 yrs of dieting unsuccessfully will take time to sort out, and I am NOT the most patient of girls. I hate the thought of it taking ages and failing, which is probably why I keep failing and then it takes ages. ach this is all a load of ramblings that probably wont make any sense. I'm just struggling ATM. ![]() and when reading of every ones successes its difficult.Anyway back to a new start again lol xx |

I got bored of waiting for the lbs to fall off and gave myself a break for a few months and am back again trying to carry on getting them off. I have the same problem to a certain extent, my daughter comes home from school and wants dinner there and then, whereas I dont eat til much later with my partner (who like yours is a meat and tatties kind of guy!). I usually have something quick and easy for my little one as she is so fussy she barely eats anything normal anyway, so it's either left over spag bol from my meal the previous night as I make extra to freeze most of the time, pasta mixed with pesto, cooked chicken and microwave rice etc and then I make my meal with my partners and if he needs anything extra on his plate that I'm not allowed or anything fattening mixed in with the recipe I do it after I take mine out to avoid having to cook lots of separate meals. He wasnt too keen on trying my sw recipes at first but he either eats it or makes his own meal I'm afraid and that wont happen as he can barely even cook!! To be honest he actually quite enjoys the meals now, the only thing he wont eat is quorn because he doesnt like the taste and that's fine by me, I just use it to make meals for myself when he's out or to take to work, then he doesnt have to eat it. Could you ring your consultant and tell her how you feel, that's what theyre there for? Even when I have a terrible week I still make sure I weight myself (I dont go to group anymore) because it gives me the kick up the bum I need to stay focused and get back on top of things again. Good luck, you will do it! x |

I do believe that going to group keeps you going on the plan week after week, and the continual falling off and not going to group and 'starting again' mentality is more of a waste of money than going to group and seeing a gain. Nothing worth having ever came easy, so swallow your impatience and get some determination.

Your cooking, they eat what you cook. Either they are supporting you in this quest or they are not and if not, why not. Sounds to me like you are cooking at all different times for different people in the family, and bowing to what they want. Time to make a change hun. As you say you have got to be selfish and obsessed with SW to give yourself a fighting start and get into the routine, but all this faffing in the kitchen isn't helping you. Planning your meals is great, but plan them for the family too. They eat what you eat or they go hungry, simple, no compromise, and to make sure they don't go hungry, involve the family in planning the weeks menus, something for everyone. Put your foot down and let them know they have got to support you in this not hinder. Small changes all lead to big results, so put yourself first babes and good luck with this week.

My DS has his when he comes home from school. My OH will have what I cook him most of the time but he won't eat chilli, curry, stew or anything else a bit 'foreign'. He's a meat and veg man too. That's ok but I would find this boring every day, so we have different meals at least 4 nights a week. Saying that, I don't mind cooking different meals if it means I'm eating what I want. After all i can't force my OH to eat spicey foods and I'd be cross if he left what i did make him. He doesn't cook for himself and I dread to think what sort of mess the kitchen would be in if he tried LOL

Yes I could say Right we will all have the same, but One of us wouldnt like it and to be honest I cant be bothered with the moaning from them. So thats not the issue its me. If I could eat meat and tatties every night of the week it would be fine. I also dont have a group. I live in the Highlands, I dont drive, there are no weight loss groups until I get to Dingwall 45 miles away. I have a neighbour who is size 10 and eats like a horse, who is actually my only neighbour lol.And a tall thin Gp whose answer is 'eat less , exercise more'. So unfortunately I am on my own, my only positive support is from my sister who is also size 10 and taller than me and she is always there to say come on get a grip, but she always says things like we can do it together and I just think WTF??. I guess I will just have to try harder.I reckon next year when my daughter goes to school things should get a heck of a lot easier, I will be able to work and have a routine, and get out of the house and walk quickly or maybe even run, yikes. I just would love not to keep having hurdles to jump over. Just for a wee while I would like to loose a couple of pounds 2 or 3 weeks in a row, that would perk me up, I just cant figure how to do it. Thanks for the replies, I think I'm just stuck in a rut a bit. |

The other thing is I tend to eek out meals for him, and when we have a roast , it also does him another 2 days or him and the children another one day, but not all of us, so somebody has to have something different. i love cooking as much as I love eating I'm afraid. But really my diet is pretty healthy which is possibly another reason my weight just doesnt fall off. I cant ditch biscuits, crisps, butter , cheese and bread because I dont eat them, I love proper meals Moroccan chick pea stews and things, I never add extra salt just herbs, same with fat/oil, I have used fry light since it first came out and have always made 'slimming world chips' before I had ever heard of slimming world.. Its just difficult to loose whats stayed with me for the past 4 yrs. But it will go. I dont know why its being so stubborn, I managed to loose all my baby weight after having the boys each with in 18 months, . Must try harder I suppose. |

How does your husband feel about stewed meat. Not a hotpot type stew, but just meat and onions stewed? You could have this ready for when the kids come in, heat it up with tatties for hubby, and then add some curry spices for yourself? If you have a roast one day, and your hubby would eat it the next day too, cut off some meat for yourself, and fry it with some onions and spices. I don't know if you are home during the day, but if you are, you could always put some lentils and spices on during the day to cook. That way in the evening, you could just warm them up with some meat, whilst still giving hubby and kids tatties? I don't know if any of the above would work for you, and as I say, they are just SUGGESTIONS. HTH. |
