As my consultant wont let me have one.

Hi, long time lurker (since Nov 09), first time proper poster.:wavey:

So, anyhoos. Have been having a bit of trouble, i loose weight every 4 weeks and i like to write all my food down so i can keep track. My consultant told me last night she wont give anymore as i know the plan (she has seen my diary before) and maybe i should just keep a note of my syns. I like the layout of the food diaries, its easy to look at, at a glance. Last resort if i cant find one anywhere is to photocopy and tippex out and old one.

Many thanks in advance

I also like to write everything down. I did my first 4 weeks using the SW food diary. Then, I bought a little note book (a5 size) from Wilkinsons - cost about £1. I use a page each day, and turn it round so it is landscape.

I write the column headings across the top (free, superfree, HEs, and syns). I then write everything down, and pay particular attention to checking I've had 5 fruit/veg each day, a third superfree, my healthy extras and syns. I was dubious about this at first (my consultant suggested it), but I find it works really well, probably better than the loose sheets from SW.

I can then look back over the weeks easily and see what I had, and check it against how much I lost that week.

I don't want to stop writing my food diary down, as I know I will 'forget' what I've eaten, and I'll be back on the slippery slope again.

there is a food diary online if you log on to the SW website, but I tried this and found it very difficult to use. It is cumbersome, and it won't record the syns very well. For example, if I have a tube of fruit pastilles (9 syns), but only eat half one day, and half the next day, the online version will not record this. It will record the full 9 syns. Writing in my book is much more flexible and accurate.

Thank you Julie

Annie - exactly, its also good to look back at a good week and see what was eaten then. Once i get a new diary, i will treat it as gold and have plenty of copies!! Cant seem to keep notebooks for very long, once one of my daughters eyes see it they swipe it for their own!

i photocopied my first oen and blew it up to A4! if you want it i can email you it, let me know your email addy x

crumbs - that seems a bit mean of your consultant. I know she has to pay for these things but surely that is part of what you pay £5 a week for!?

Nope it's not.
The food diaries are a consultants tool to help if you are not losing weight.
You fill them out for the first 4 weeks so they can make sure you are okay with the plans, eating the right amount of foods, and generally getting the hang of the plans.
They will give you one if you have gained and genuinely don't know why and if you are struggling. They will not give you one just so you can write it down.
I still write food down after all this time but it's not considered normal SW behaviour! They say all you need to do is keep a note of syns.

I don't think she's being harsh or tight.

yeah i was going to do that, i just wondered though if anyone had scanned the food diary and done it all on one a4 page as that to me would be easier x if not i will try and do it myself x

Does nobody else use the online food diary? I've used it from Day 1 and I'd be lost without it! It means I can enter stuff in it whether at home or at work and it works all your syns out for you. And no faffing around with pens and paper.

Then when the week is over I just print out all 7 pages, and bundle them up in a nice folder to take with me to my next group :)

You can access it by logging in on the SW website, go to My Weight Loss Tools and then open food diary. Simples!

I ask my consultant for a diary every week, if she didn't give me one, I'd question why I'm paying. I don't stay for the meetings, simply because its a session of 'oh you did well, you lost 2lbs this week,, how does it feel?,,, oh you didn't do so well this week,, what can you do different' its patronising and does nothing for me,, however, I'll be damned if I pay each week and not lose weight, hence my attendance but I do think that a diary should be supplied each week. My consultant even saves of previous diary sheets from each member so she can keep a check and help out with your weight loss :)

thankyou for this x

Our C does not like Diary on line as she says she can't check but do not think she's got a Printer But having said that Santa brought me an IPad but I still find my phone easier!! So in same boat Age maybe!!
