    Interesting read..possibly how SW works?

I was just doing one of many searches about weight loss and found this article which makes alot of sense about SW. Thought you might be interested in it too. Now, alot of stuff is on the net about weight loss and some might be rubbish but this seems to explain a little about why we on SW eat the way we do...You probably already know all this but if not you can be enlightened like I was.

The best weight loss foods that help you lose weight fast

Every time you're eating RAW fruits & vegetables you're losing weight because of the negative calorie effect so for example... When you eat an 85 calorie apple - Your body may have to burn 95 calories to digest that apple so in this example... You'd burn 10 calories every time you'd eat an apple so... (This is why we syn cooked fruit)

The more RAW fruits & veggies you eat... The easier it'll be for you to maintain your weight &... If you eat lots of fruits & veggies while on a weight loss plan - you'll lose weight much faster and here's another quick fact...
Your body burns 16% more calories after you eat a meal that's mostly fruits & vegetables than if you ate a meal without any fruits or vegetables plus...
Fruits & vegetables high in vitamin C like... Oranges, lemons, pineapples, grapefruit, apples, limes, tomatoes, broccoli, cabbage, celery, carrot, and watermelon liquefy (or burn off) body fat so the fat can be easily flushed out of your body.

Which is probably why we are now advised to pick superfree for snacks and why the 1/3 superfree is important on EE.

    And the reason for HeA's:
Dairy products Dairy products or foods high in calcium like Low-fat yogurt, cheese, & milk breakdown fat cells faster and in a recent study...
People who ate low-fat dairy products 3-to-4 times a day lost 70% more fat than people on a low-dairy diet and scientist also believe that foods high in calcium suppress calcitriol, a hormone responsible for making fat cells bigger and other studies have shown that... Dairy products contain high quality proteins that help suppress appetite.

Anyway, that's enough c&p. Just let this fall to the bottom of the forum if I'm the only who didn't know this.

Really interesting post Lovely Laura, thank-you.
I did watch a documentry a few months ago where they did some diet fact/myths. One of those centred around the eating of low fat dairy products, exactly as you mention.
    It all makes perfect sense!

Thanks for this - it does make a lot of sense.

But given this information, I still don't get why canned grapefruit in juice is not a free food. It is raw. It is high fibre/density. Surely it can be no different to canned tomatoes in juice?

    Anyway, thanks LL! xx

    Very interesting.

I will certianly be eating my fruit & veg now especially the ones that contain vitamin c.

Definately going to eat more yogurt too as I am not fond of milk and can only have it in tea & coffee.

    Good find

Can you not have it free even if you just eat the fruit and leave the juice?

But it's not raw.... any food that comes in a can is cooked. It has to be heated to very high temepratures to sterilize it, so there fore it is cooked slightly.

And as for tomotoes, even though they are technically a fruit they are for the purposed of slimming world classed as a vegetable and follows all the SW vegtable rules i.e they can be eaten canned and they can also be pureed into a soup, they are pretty low cal in comparison to other fruits.

I guess thats why tinned grapefruit is so much sweeter than raw. Thanks for that even though I would much rather you had said "oh its fine to eat now, sw have changed their minds"!!!!!

Thanks for a very interesting and informative post.

It makes sense that raw food is healthier, harder to break down and therefore 'more filling', but the 'negative calorie' thing is supposed to be a myth.
Some are just very low calorie foods, with the thermic effect of eating already accounted for in the calorie values of the foods, and with some foods, like fruit, containing a fair amount of natural sugar, making them significant in calories.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who didn't know this. On the site it also says:

Resistant starch Resistant starch is just another kind of dietary fiber but According to a study done at the University of Colorado...
You'll burn 20-to-30% more fat by including more foods loaded with resistant starch like navy beans, Bananas, Potatoes, Lentils, Oatmeal & Wholegrain breads in your meals and...
Resistant starch also prevents your body from storing too much fat and like other types of dietary fiber... Resistant starch also makes you feel fuller longer so you'll never gain weight (and only lose weight)

Which I guess is how green days work. Filling up with carbs is often looked down on but if they help you not to store fat then great.
