What have you changed forever since being on SW?

Have you changed something that before SW you did, and now you dont?

I used to be a fast food ADDICT! used to always have a burger when i was out shopping - usually a BK XL Bacon double cheeseburger!!! (and fries and dip!) or sometimes a Maccie D's meal.

Now the thought and taste of these foods really does nothing for me. I had a BK burger at the airport to 'rebel' before i went on holiday. All it did was make me gag at how greasy it was.

I also used to have a cake/cookie with my Starbucks - now i try not to even have the SB = although this is very hard!!!! hehe!

So has anyone else changed something that used to be a habit for the better since being on SW?

I now drink fruit tea if we go out for coffee. Hubby and I have also cut down on our treat meal which used to be burger, fries and dessert (plus onion rings or cheese melts when available) now I have a McD's grilled chicken salad and I'm full and happy.

I now only ever roast veggies with spray oil, even when I'm being "bad" lol. It's just so much more convenient and covers a wider surface area compared to drizzling oil.

I never buy whole milk, just semi skimmed or sometimes skimmed (though I prefer semi skimmed)

I eat much more fruit and veggies

Fast food has always made me gag so I never eat it anyway (except Papa Johns pizza! Drool...)

oh my goodness...sooooo much I have changed since sw! I think about what I eat and decide whether I want it. I never used to make choices before I used to just have whatever and not think about the consequences...hence getting sooooo big!
So I do have treats but they are generally ones I have chosen to have rather than just mindless eating! It can feel a bit restrictive at times but it helped me lose over 9 stone so its worth the restrictions.
If I have biscuits for example I can have one and savour it and the same with most foods whereas before I would eat the lot and still want more half the time!
I don't grab stuff from the shops all the time like pork pies and crisps and greggs and ...and ....and.....

Looked at this thread, thought to myself "Nah, no big changes", went onto another thread but was still thinking about this one and then it dawned on me, thanks to SW and more specifically, minimins SW threads, I:

    1) gave up smoking - someone on here actually gave me the impetus and the PDF file of Allen Carr easy Way to Stop Smoking, which really really really helped me kick the habit after ten years.

    2) started running again - Would never have heard of C25k, would never have gone out three times for the last nine weeks and would not be planning to now do Bridge to 10k if it weren't for on here.

"Meeting" Jillian Michaels is another thing I have to "thank" you guys for....lol

Don't mean to change the direction of your thread, Elle Bear and make it about minimins instead of SW, but since I so SW at home now, this place has been so important and useful for me. Viva minimins!!!

    Goals
My medium term goal is to get below 10 and a half stone.
My long term goal is to get into the 9 stone bracket.
My dream is to stay there.

    Exercise

    oops
    I used to..........
do 2 / 3 x weights sessions a week in the gym- (New Rules of Lifting For Women)
Kettlebells in my living room - just have a bit of a swing from time to time when I can't get to the gym. Previously did Kettleworx program three times.
Used to run -Did C25k then progressed to half marathon - have let this slide in favour of New Rules of Lifting
Did Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred -yeah, I looked trimmer but it was hell!

Currently - very, very little. Some walking. Sporadic teeny bits of kettlebells. I've become LAZY

I can't really think of too many, the main one being I'll only buy ff yogurts now, I don't buy mayo for myself, I'll buy light mayo for the family, but I just think it's minging. I'm more aware of how much chocolate etc I'm eating & will stop when I've had enough syns not stop when I'd like to, this has made me appreciate chocolate etc more.

I used to always eat Flora original and now I think it's minging. I'll only eat light or extra light.
Just started a Couch to 10k which I wouldn't have thought of.
So far not too much but I lost my motivation and have only just got it back.

    ooooooooh here we go....

I have discovered that I AM actually an exercise bunny -a revalation made even clearer by the fact that on Friday I Kn*ckered my achilies playing badminton -so this week I have had NO exercise and I am sooooo grumpy I swear I could have an argument with myself .
This has made me realise that even if my weight loss slows right down I DON'T CARE -I need need need the gym

I have never been a fan of fast food, ready meals etc -home cooking/baking has always been my thing-but I have learnt that I really don't need big portions, AND just because food is on my plate i don't have to eat it

Jillian Michaels has become my hero -not only do I have some of her DVDs but I have her 4 books and they are amazing..so much so that when Im in the gym I can "hear" her in my head ... *although medication might help that*

oooh and at last I am happy to be ME -I may not end up being a size XYZ or have legs like cindy crawford BUT and its a big BUT I have finally learnt to love myself (Im as good as anyone else -no better -no worse "I AM ME") and my aim now isn't just to drop the lbs but to become the healthiest, fittest me possible.

OK I will stop ranting now

Hmmm, the only thing I can think of is bread. We've gone from white to wholemeal, and even then, I don't eat it nearly as much as I used to, possibly 1 - 2 slices a week, and then it has to be toasted. I didn't realise how much bread bloated me either, till we were away last week, and I had white bread rolls for breakfast (as well a croissant!)

I also "like" exercise, I enjoy going out for walks (I may moan about doing it, but once there, I'm fine!) going on my bike, playing footie with the boys etc. It's nice not being out of breath and having my boobs flap about!!

Oooh breads another of mine. Used to hate wholemeal but now I love it. Will still have white bread but very rarely. I do still love it though and would eat bread till the cows come home given half a chance.

Me too, Cherry Blossom. Before SW, I'd have a sandwich, maybe two every day, so it was hard to cut out. Now if I fancy bread/sandwich, I have a green day so I can use em as my HEX's

ooooh I forgot about the food side of things... for the last 14months I have had no
    • bread
    • pastry
    • cake
    • sweets
    • chocolate
      * crisps

and I haven't missed any of them at all, and really can't see me eating them again -I can't actually remember what any of them taste like
Bread was my biggest problem, I only ever made my own -everything from tortilla wraps, baguettes n bagels ....but I just couldn't leave em alone
oooh and Wednesday I had my first takeaway in 14 months -me n hubby shared gyros, fries and tzatziki -and I sat down, enjoyed every last scrap and didn't feel at all guilty about it -the best bit was that I wanted it, had it, ate it, enjoyed it and then I was done ...no "ooh welll I had XYZ I may as well carry on stuffing" and I was back to my usual menu the following meal ....
BY GAWD I think I might have developed a "normal" relationship with food - took me long enough

I have a sandwich a day still (or sometimes 2) has my Hex. Mostly as I don't eat cereal and don't have time to make much for brekkie due to work. Usually now its a toastie sandwich with a turkey or chicken slice and a sprinkle of cheese. Plus some fruit which I much though the morning.

The main thing is that I no longer associate all Carbs with Bad.

The two diets I did before this was a strict calorie control diet and the Atkins diet, both of which teach you that carbs are the devil, SW is good to highlight that lower fat carbs give much more energy, I used to be pretty weak and tired on Atkins compared!

lol going to be the freak in the room, as usual. I eat a lot more bread and cheese than I did pre slimming world. I am trying hard to manage at least one of my healthy extras a day so usually 2 slices of nimble wholemeal or 2 weetabix for a b choice or drinking a glass of milk or adding cheese on food as an a choice. I'm still struggling and even 5 weeks in I don't think I have managed a single 100% on plan day. It's a huge adjustment from going from never feeling hungry and eating maybe one meal a day because dh cooked it and I felt bad if I didn't to making myself at least try and eat 3 small meals a day.
