    Looking for a Diet

    Hi,

I have always had a problem with my weight, but managed to keep it sort of in check by running a few times a week. Now im getting older i have noticed that the running is not keeping my weight down and im gradually putting on more weight - even as we speak my shirt is getting tighter lol.

I was wondering if someone could give me a brief outline of what slimming world is, so i can see if it would be something i could see myself doing?

If i stick to it how much weight could i hope to loose?

    Is it easy to follow?

I am still hopeing to run 5 times a week, will the diet leave me enough energy for this?

Thank you in advance for taking time to read this and for your responses.

    Andy <3

Have a read of the first post on this thread for an introduction to the plan. Its less of a 'diet' and more of a healthy eating plan which retrains you into making healthier choices and subsitutions to your diet

As much as you need to get to your target weight, which could be 100+ pounds or half a stone. The average weight loss is 1-2lb a week

Yes, very easy once you get your head round the plan (it isnt complicated, but for some people it takes a few days/weeks to adjust fully and to know all the ins and outs of it). It fits in well with family life so they can eat the same meals as you.

More than enough energy, and SW actually has exercise as part of the plan which is called body magic

The science behind the plans is known as "Food Optimising" - it's about utilising foods that make you feel fuller for longer but with minimal calories.

How much do you want to loose? The minimum is 7lb but you also need to have 7lb to loose and not become underweight according to their height/weight charts (which roughly correspond to BMI). The most - the sky's the limit - I know one person who lost over 26st following the plans.

Give yourself time to adjust your eating habits to the plans, and the plans around your eating habits - and it'll become second nature before you know it. (actually knowing that it's second nature may take a bit longer though - took me 8 months before actually realised that it had just become the norm for me to eat this way but really - the mind had probably switched quite a few months earlier.

The 2010 man of the year runs at least 10Km a day and ran in the London Marathon this year. The 2010 Woman of the Year is running next years. The 2009 Man of the Year ran the 2010 marathon - and there's plenty of others who have taken up running whilst loosing their weight.
