15/20/25 syns a day

I was advised by my SW consultant that I could have up to 25 syns a day as I'm 21st 3lbs. She said it does down to 20 when I'm under 20 and then down to 15 when I get below 16st. Haven't read this anywhere else though.

My starting weight was 20st 1lb and have only ever had 15syns a day. Never heard of anyone having more. Id have thpught your consultant should be encouraging you to have more superfree food not more syns x

I've heard of several consultants doing this, theres at least 2 or 3 people on here who have been told to have 20 a day, evilpenguin was one I think.

Ive never been told to do that though and Ive had several different consultants at different times and started at between 25 and nearly 28 stone.

sounds great, but try to lose weight by having 15.....its only going to speed up your losses.

dropping syns by losing weight sounds similar to WW plan, not SW.

I would try it out if that's what she's advised, although I think health wise she should have advised that you had an extra heb instead ;-)

She did advise me to use my superfree during and in between meals but said the syns were there if needed. I haven't had anywhere near that and I don't intend to, just thought i'd ask here as never read anywhere else that you could.

Hi

I'm on my second week and I was advised to have 20 syns a day. I asked another member in group about it (who is also a consultant) he confirmed that he was told to advise members this in his training.

However I have done SW before and was heavier than I am now and was only ever told to have 5-15 syns a day (a diff group)

I am trying to stick to 15 syns a day as I realise that once below 15st I will only have 15 anyway.

xx

Yep, both consultants I had told me 20 syns, though neither mentioned when to lower them to 15. I was 22st 12lbs when I was told this, I can't remember what I was the second time but over 21st definitely. I lost 3 stone the first time on 20 a day and was still losing between 1lb and 3lbs a week - so no idea when I would've needed to reduce them. My plan is to stay at 20 until I need to drop to 15, so when my losses slow or stop basically.

25 seems a lot though. You should try it, see what happens and if it works go with it. If not you know what to do. I would definitely take the 20 syns a day though, it works for me and will give you more to play with when you hit a plateau further along. Then if that doesn't work you know to go down to 15 right away.

There seems to be lots of them not singing from the same song sheet and it makes it so confusing. At least I know those extra syns are there if I need them. I might see how I get on after 1st week weigh in and speak to my consultant again about it before I attempt to have that many. I is good to hear other experiences though.

I would say - why make things more difficult for yourself? If you lose weight on 20, or 25 syns a week, then it works for you, so stick to that number of syns. If your weight loss slows down or grinds to a halt, then reducing syns is the first thing to look at, assuming you are doing everything else correctly. Everyone is different. As you lose weight your body may need less food to keep "ticking over". If you increase your exercise, you may get away with more syns and continue to lose weight. I am 2lbs away from target and still have 15 syns a day, though I do work out every day where possible. I'm sure that if I didn't exercise, I would have had to reduce my syns by now.

I can see their point, but I don't think I'd go as high as 25 syns. You can get away with more being bigger (i know i have in the past, and im 18 stone) so maybe try 20 a day and see how you go? 25 syns to me seems rather excessive when you've got plenty of free food to take advantage of! xx

It does say in the book that your Consultant will advise you on how many syns to have a day, but then it also says they will be between 5 and 15!

In the Maintainers advice though it says not to up your syns but to have another Healthy Extra which would seem more healhy perhaps.

Have SW got an email address on their website? You could always drop them a mail to check.

hi im 22 stone and i was told i could have 20 syns a day..well i dont i have 15 but the reason they say 20 syns a day is coz obv i have eaten quite a bit of food to get to 22 stone.... and they want to make sure i dont fall off the wagon by only limitin myself to 15 syns if you kno what i mean

Use them if you need them and can lose, it will help as you go down the stones and hit difficult patches and to be able to reduce them as and when needed.
I wasn't toldthis when started but could still have nights out and have a good drink etc and lose which I didn't/don't get away with further down the line.
Just make sure you follow the rest of the plan with correct superfree and hex's etc to develop good habits and your appetite will probably gradually reduce anyway :)

My consultant told me that if I was struggling, to try and up my syns to 25 one week, then 20 the next, then back to 15. It was a method of keeping control, as if 15 syns was so restrictive it made me binge, having 25 a day and sticking to it would be better for me.

Worked a treat!

Did you still lose weight?

Sent from my galaxy s2 using MiniMins app

but surely if you are prone to bingeing then however many syns you have allocated wouldn't stop it, if you are in that frame of mind to binge you'll just binge anyway? (saying that an ex binger myself)

Don't like the way it comes across as saying well we'd better let these bigger people have more cause they'll obviously not be able to stick at the plan as it is, smacks of patronisation to me tbh.

Would be interested in SW's offical line on this.
