In just under 9 1/2 months I've lost just shy of 7 1/2 stone.

That was with messing about in the first few weeks and my losses starting to slow slightly, but that could be down to a few factors.

I'm averaging 2 1/2lb a week, there abouts, and that is perfectly fine for me. I hope to get to the 10 stone loss mark by my birthday- which will have taken 13 months ish from start to finish.

I've had a couple of months where I've lost a stone in the whole month, thats not every single month, but I tend to lose between 11-13lb a month average.

    ETA- I started at 22 1/2 stone

Dont worry about speed all thats important is that it works!! Quick fix diets usually arnt long term- the quicker it comes off the easier it goes back on Give it a go for a few weeks and see for yourself! and choose which way is best for you red/green/EE. Im doing EE and find myself rarely hungry due to the many free foods etc. Its sometimes feel that you are not even dieting! And I have never tried and cooked so many different foods! Just Love It! Give it a go

I am tempted to go back to the VLCD as that has been the most successful I have ever been with losing weight, but I have been told by a friend that SW is also very good, so I am trying to weigh (sorry !) each diet up.
I've done a vlcd and although I lost weight quick it piled back on and more in a 3rd of the time!

With sw I've lost 3 stone 5lbs and I've gone through my dad having cancer and dying at 61 and I still stuck to plan as its not a diet its teaching you to eat properly!

I was 19 stone when I started and I'm now pregnant which is why my weight has stopped at 15 stone 9lbs but if sticking to sw means I don't gain and lose a few stone when I POP baby out I will be one happy lady and a vlcd can't do that!

My husband was 21 stone although carries it well and has been losing 4-6 lb a week ...we are quite active too and train most days also him being military. I'm hoping this is a lifestyle change though for us both that way the weight stays off however long it's takes.

    I'm enjoying the journey too

Im sorry that is just SO not the case. It doesnt matter a bit how you lose weight what determines your success is what you do once youve lost it, go back to your old eating habits and the weight will go back on no matter what diet youve lost it on.

There are as many restarters on SW/WW etc as there are on the VLCDs and just as many success stories on the VLCDS as there are on SW/WW

But that wasnt the fault of the diet. It did what it says on the tin, it got the weight off you. If it piled back on again afterwards thats not the fault of CD or whoever you lost it with.

Paul you need to really just decide what diet you want to do and do it. You asked this same question about SW a while back and youre asking about other diets but wanting to do them in ways theyre not designed.

If you want to lose a stone a month you need to basically do a VLCD but a proper one, not one youre adapting. Get back on CD if thats what you feels best. If you dont want do go down the VLCD route then you need to resign yourself to smaller losses. VLCDs are hard hard work but the compensation is the weight loss. On SW youll be able to eat loads but you cant realistically expect to eat loads and lose the same as you would on 400/600kcals a day. You literally cant have your cake and eat it.

I never said it was the fault of the diet, I was simply telling the op my experience by showing that with some diets even if you have a life wrecking experience some healthy eating plans are easier to follow than a very controlled vlcd. Meaning that on slimming world unlike a vlcd I could still stuff my face comfort eating but be making informed decisions on my snacks.

Fair enough but the way I read it sounded like it was because you had done a VLCD that the weight went back on so quickly

I don't see where that sentence says that it was the diets fault?

I put the weight back on quickly because I got married and had a wonderful honeymoon - I think you misconstrued the point I was making in my post as a whole.

I started at 23 stone 7.5 lb and I've lost 5 stone 0.5 lb in 7 months. If I can do it anyone can! Slimming world just works and I never feel hungry. Good luck.

I am 20st 5lbs and started slimming world last night after messing around on different vlcds for 5 years!! I even paid for a gastric band privately and still only lost about 3 stone in 2 years as I was constantly cheating the band so this time I don't care if I only lose half a pound a week I'm sticking to it!!
