Can I ask, have you maintained the loss you managed with the VLCD? If you have why not carry on with what you know works for you?
If you havent I think you've answered your own question. VLCDs are good to lose a lot, quickly, but arent sustainable in the long term for most people.
That doesn't mean you shouldn't do them, but SW is not in itself a VLCD (although you could eat this way AND not eat many calories) - its a long term lifestyle choice to change the way you eat and think about food. Its possible to lose fast and its also possible to lose slowly depending on what and how much you eat and what else you do. But if you do lose fast it's not likely you'll stay at that rate for very long. Most people lose quickly to begin with and then it tapers off.
Personally I started at 27st 9lb and am (as of today) 20st 00lb exactly, thats taken 51 weeks (its my SW anniversary next week

), so an average of 2lb a week which is pretty standard. Some people lose a bit faster than that, some slower. Looking at my history the 1st 12 weeks averaged 2.8 a week so it has slowed down a bit but not massively.
Youll get "guaranteed losses" on BOTH a VLCD and SW but youre a lot more likely to KEEP them off on a long term healthy eating plan such as SW or similar - especially at the weight that both you and I are (no disrespect). You've really got to learn how to eat healthily and how to manage your relationship with food. If you dont do that you wont keep it off, I promise you. I expect you dont have a great relationship with food if you've managed to get to this weight as most of us dont, again, speaking from someone of a similar weight to you.
Good luck whatever you choose x
