I would like all members to please refrain from posting the slimming world password on the open forum.

I recieved an email today from Slimming World about this. Please see the email posted below.

Regards,
Pierce

Dear Administrator,

I’ve received a letter from a Slimming World member who is very disappointed to see that the password for LifelineOnline is being shared on your forum. Whilst I can see that your forum is a source of mid-week support and motivation for many members – and possibly non-members too – I would appreciate it if you could ensure that the password isn’t published on your pages.

Group members pay a weekly fee which includes exclusive access to the site. LifelineOnline is an extension of Slimming World, rather than a support system in itself, by passing the password on to non-members it is depriving them of experiencing for themselves the unique support of a Slimming World group and Image Therapy. We are the only slimming company that allows members free access to a member’s website via a password (other companies charge for this service); if the password continues to be made available to non-members on unofficial forums, we may have to review LifelineOnline ‘free’ status.

We do take this seriously because we want to offer our members the very best online support and help for free. I hope you can appreciate that and are able to action this on your support forum as soon as possible.

Yours sincerely

lifeline online password (target member)

Hi i am new to this site. I joined sw mid jan 2006 and lost 5 stone by may 2007 - my target weight. I have maintained this, but have been unable to attend class for a while due to going back to night classes at college. the consultant changed around the same time and i dont have any contacts now to get the password as several friends have also left the class. Is there any way I can get this??

You need to be a SW member to get the password

Why not join as a slimming world on-line member via the bodyoptimise site?

i didn't ask what the password was last night for this week i was in a rush i had to get to work i am currently using last weeks password which still works but when will it stop working?

ha ha

isnt it funny how they emphasize that people who go to the classes PAY and in turn get access to the website for free. its a joke just like all other slimming clubs all they are interested in is making money. So what about people who cannot afford to go to the group meetings, is this fair NO! so basically if you dont pay to come to classes you cannot do slimming world at all even though it might be the best diet and support network for you, who cares if they dont get their money they dont give two hoots about anyone! and thats sure the truth!!!!

At the end of the day, Slimming World is a business. It is not a charity or a public service. Neither is any other slimming club.

For free dieting support see your doctor and ask to be referred to a dietician.

I pay £4.50 a week for the support of my consultant and access to the website. Why should the website be free to people who don't pay? THAT would be unfair to the SW members.

I think it's easy to forget that SW wasn't just devised Xamount of years ago and now it's just pure profit. There is a team of scientists and nutritionalists working full time on research and analysis to make sure the plans are up to date and to make this as easy as possible for us to do. THAT alone will cost SW a fortune! The websites are constantly updated and maintained by yet another team who have to be paid. Add to that the consultants who have to buy their suplies and pay for the venue each week, our £4.50 really doesn't go very far at all. I probably earn more than my consultant does so I don't think it's fair to accuse it of being fully profit focussed. Of course they make a profit, it's a business. The fact is, there are other options for people who can't afford to attend weekly meetings and these include online and postal memberships for one-off fees. Also, as Sue correctly says, you can ask your doctor for help. Many regions now do the vouchers for SW which you can get for free from your nurse at your surgery.

SW is still one of the cheapest slimming clubs around and members benefit from the free website as part of the weekly fees. If it was available to anyone and everyone there would be a fee to join the site and that's not fair to people who pay each week.

BUT tbh, the very fact that you are here means you have already accessed the best support network any dieter could ever want. This forum is full of people willing to support, encourage and advise where needed. We are a strong community with one common goal and no one judges, ridicules or is nasty to anyone else. Take a good look around here and ask questions. Start a diary so we can all get to know you better and help you where you need it x

well said taz, cant rep ya, need to spread it around x

At the end of the day SW like everything else is a business. Why on earth should they give their formula away for free, theyre not a public service. Quite honestly I dont think £4.50 is much to pay for any slimming club.

I couldn't agree more. It's a bit like saying banks should give their money away for free as it's not fair that they don't share it to people who don't have it!

Or doctors should work for nothing and obviously don't care about people because they expect to get paid

Hi there i posted on your other post too. I meant to say if you don't really want to pay the weekly fee or join body optimise, why don't you see your gp and get refered to the weight managment clinic. I am not sure how it works in your area but up here if your gp refers you you get to go and speak to a dietitian to tell you what to eat, a counsillor to help you figure out why you over eat and they sometimes offer you medication. they see you every couple of weeks to weigh you and it is free of charge. Or as someone else pointed out your gp may offer you sw vouchers for class. I wish they done that in scotland but they don't. I do find however that there is lots of good info in the mag and also the part of the website that everyone can get access to.

Referring to the last line of your post that sw don't care about anything about getting money, well as my consultant told me Margaret Miles Bramwell started sw because she did care, she cared that people could go to a class and not feel humiliated if they had put on weight or stayed the same. My consultant wants us all to have the best losses we can for us, she really motivates us to stick with it and has actually became a good friend. When you think about all the books they have to get printed and the staff they have to pay etc etc £4.50 is quite reasonable i think. I also think most people save money on the things they give up or eat less of in order to pay for class.

Im very lucky i am able to afford to go to class every week.
I can understand how frustrating it must be to want to do the diet but can't afford it...

I did ww at home have you tried this?
You don't necessary have to go to class to do ww...
just an idea hun

We pay a gym membership- they provide a service. We pay our taxi drivers and they provide a service. We pay for an electrician and they provide a service. We pay for SW classes and they provide a service AND they chuck in access to a website FULL of updated resources. What's the problem???? LOL
