i have been with SW for about 9 months and lost about 5 stone and i must say my consultant has been rubbish!I have received NO advice or support from her and i feel in a way she has underplayed my achievement and made me feel like I've done something wrong...

I got to target a while ago but now i have gone half a stone under target as i don't know what i'm doing

I'm not sure if its a clash of personalities (not that i've said or done anything wrong) but i felt like on some weeks people got more praise putting on weight then i did losing consistently

anyone else have a rubbish/indifferent consultant?

I don't think my consultant is totally rubbish, as shes brill with other members, just with me i've felt ignored or brushed under the carpet if you know what i mean

My consultant is brilliant thankfully! Have you checked if there are other groups you could go to, getting the right consultant can make all the difference! Well done on your weight loss that's fab!! :)

I like my consultant, she has her moments but on the whole she is very approachable and helpful.
It's a shame you haven't had more help, hasn't she told you to increase your B choices to try to maintain target weight? Some people have to have 1 extra, some up to 3 a day to maintain.
Have you tried contacting her outside of group times? Give her a ring or drop her a text maybe? What advice does she give you in Image Therapy?

Your weight loss is phenomenal, well done on that, increase those B choices and try to maintain. xxx

my consultant is fantastic i only joined a few weeks ago but shes been brilliant, we get regular texts from her to keep us motivated and she dosnt favour one person over another she treats everyone the same whether you have been with her group for 2 weeks or 2 years. i understand how you feel though as i had a similar experience with ww this contributed to why i left along with constantly being hungry on the plan!!, i would definately find another group in your area to attend as having a good group and good consulant makes all the difference. xx

I agree with what others have said. The consultant at my current group is lovely as are the people there. However last year I went to another SW group (same place different day) and didnt find the consultant there very helpful or inspiring - I feel this had a major effect on my effort and I didn't last very long. This time I always come away from group refreshed and recharged and usually with some really useful tips.

I would definately look into other groups, and you should congratulate yourself on how well you have done!

Burlesquebabe I know exactly what you mean.

I wouldn't say my consultant is completely useless as she does work well with some of the group. But she does tend to spend more time with certain people, and seems to ignore others.

She isn't the most welcoming, won't even say hello to everyone when they say hi to her as they come in.

When she goes round the circle she gives certain people lots of time to explain their week and asks them questions, whereas others don't get a chance to say what they've done that week or are able to ask for advice as she's either cut them off from what they are saying or moved on to the next person! I understand time limits but it's always the same people who speak for ages, often saying the same week after week.

She always mentions a lady in her other group (who we don't know) who has lots slightly less than me in a longer period of time but always says she is doing so well. Funny as I've not had any praise from her. She even said once that she shouldn't have given me SOTW as someone weighed in late and lost 0.5lbs more than me, which she made a big deal out of so it felt I was wrong to have it, I even asked if I should take my sticker off my book!

She also admits she doesn't fully pay attention to sessions she attends with other local consultants and only gets half the message to us. She also told us something was free but came back a few weeks later to tell us it was 8syns, and with no apologies!

It took enough for me to work up the confidence to go to this group and make friends so I don't feel comfortable moving to a different one and having to start over. But after listening to others praise of their consultants maybe I should!

I felt like this is my old consultant! But never really got anyadvoce from her she was quite young and didn't like cooking so it was all about microwave meals, mushy pea curry and chick pea dalh! She never gave us recipes, updated us about new foods or HE! I always came on here to find stuff out She was a great consultant energy wise, but there was something about her that I dunno! everyone in that group was really clicky! Everyone knew each other apart from me! I was always on my own and nobody really made an effort to talk to me! I tried to engage in other peoples convos but never really felt like i got accecpted! Sometimes I would dread going! I once mentioned aswell about the 20cals for 1 syn! And she wasn't happy! I mentioned that I went out for tea and the pudding had he calorie content and knew it was 20 cals for 1 syn and that this certain desert was 410 calories so it woul be 20.5 syns! She said oh ok! Then after the session she said that I shouldn't of said that as it's not proven and not slimming world official etc etc! I just said that I worked it out my self and thats what it seemed! Like te previos person said it take sone people alot of courage to go! Just think some of them could make abit more of an effort sometimes!

I'm currently having some trouble with my consultant, I feel unsupported and demotivated after group, so I'm looking to change groups, I'm going to a different group on Tuesday to see how I feel :)

ladies some of your experiences are awful i would report the consultants, they are being paid by you to deliver a service, i am sure slimming world as a organisation would take a pretty dim view of any of their employees behaving this way, im sure there must be standards that all consultants must adhere to to make all our visits and experiences of the groups good ones, clearly some of the consultants are falling very short. i hope you go to other groups and enjoy the experience and are not put off by your previous visits. xx

I moved 2 weeks ago and have moved groups! I have a guy now who is lovely! He speaks to everyone! And all the group is lovely! I have already made loads of friends and it was only my second week on Thursday! I feel so much better and so much more confident! We got Told about some salmon fillets in White wine sauce that are free! And some other ones aswell! Stuff that is useful to know! Where As tmy previous consultant would of tol us to have a pasta n sauce of we wanted something quick grrr! I don't like them! Or mug shots! I think that if she doesn't like cooking it really hinders how she can run a group as she won't try new products and find out syn values to tell people! Rant over lol

How do we contact to complain? As I feel out group consultant is lacking. Not once has she told me a syn value other than "there is some paper on that table with syn values of Easter eggs, but you can't take them as SW prefer you to buy the books"

Also when you ask a question you kind of just get this buggy eyed state back :-/ I was wondering at one point if there was something "wrong" with her (sorry for poor choice of wording) but I assume there isn't. . . . I suppose this is why out of the 30 people that WI, only 5/6 of us stay for a meet.

It's jut sad as its the only group I can currently make, but once I can change I'm joining a local one that my friend attends as it sounds so invigorating and motivating!

Can't believe you got chastised by your consultant for mentioning the 1syn-20 cals thing, as it's how the snackulator calculates it anyway! Grrr silly woman! U should tell her that too!!

I am lucky because my consultant is fab and our group is buzzing................but I have had consultants in the past that really don't give a fig as long as you go along and keep the money rolling in.
I would definitely go and look for another group - it does make a difference to your weight loss if you stay and to 'dread going' is downright awful!

Well done on how much you have lost - you should be a shining beacon to other members and not ignored.

On the same note, my daughter is home from uni and couldnt attend my class last week so went to another and she said that nobody even said hello to her when she went in - not the money lady, the weighing lady or the consultant - totally out of order!

I know it's bad to dread going I know some peoe do if they have. Been bad but o wasn't bad just the thought of sitting in the corner on my own for an hour and a half talki to no one just depressed me! Lol my losses have been better since I moved! As I have sold my car so doing alot more walking! When I sold it last tuesday it still had some of the petrol I put in on boxing day lol so you can see why I sold it! Tbh best thin I ever did! And iv started running aswell! so getting way better losses!

I changed groups after 11 weeks of following with really boring group! I tried, but now I love my new group, it has def made the difference to how I am getting along with sw!

I am moving house soon though so hoping my new group is just as good

My Consultant is pretty good, and very lively and energetic but she does have her favourites! When I lost 3.5lbs over Christmas, she brushed it under the carpet so that people who had gained 'wouldn't feel demoralised' and then went on to congratulate all the people who had gained but were brave in coming to weigh in!! When I got my 4 stone award a couple of weeks back, I was given the usual happy clappy treatment, but then she said she didn't have time to ask me how I felt because of Easter coming up and she wanted to talk about the dangers of Easter eggs!!

Our consultant is very good, but I have had some shockers in the past, especially the one who talked about herself all the time and "did I mention I do kung fu?"

im not sure who you would go to with your complaints but here is the slimming world address, maybe if you direct your letter to the complaints department and send it to Slimming world, Clover Nook Road, Somercotes, Derbyshire, DE55 4RF, or send an e-mail to www.slimmingworld.com there should be a "contact us" link on the site, hope this helps, good luck.

Oh dear me, its so sad when people have such a negative time during w i with their consultants. Mine is fantastic and I help with the group. I am on the pay desk, and when its the time for Image Therapy, I note who are the new members from when they were sitting in the new members table with the consutant. I then go and sit with them during image therapy to help them feel a little less lonely. It takes a lot of courage to join a group when most people are familiar with others around them. I joined about 16 months ago and I was on my own. Fortuately a few ladies joined the same time so we always sat together but so many people join with someone else and the single joiners can feel a little isolated. I try and help them feel comfortable. There are some truly terrible stories on here of consultants who seem uninterested in their members and their weight loss journey.:(

That's sucj a lovely thing to do, I joined on my own and found the first few weeks quite difficult, as I was younger than most of the members that stay to Image Therapy. Luckily my consultant's partner (who is also a consultant) befriended me so I feel much more settled and have got to know everyone alot better. Plus I get my own personal consultant to ask advice to which is very useful!
