Just started SW and doing Insanity Workout too

Hi all,

Ive been reading through the forums the last few days as I've started doing SW myself at home. All your advice has been fantastic :) well done to you on your amazing weight loss.

I've already dropped 4lbs in less than I week which I'm so happy about :)

I've just started the Insanity workout programme which is an intense cardio programme and it's recommended to eat lots of healthy foods which SW is great for. Also, it recommends drinking a protein shake afterwards to help the body repair the muscles from the workout. I know that protein shakes has SYNS but was just wondering would I still see results if I didn't add the SYNS from the protein shake as the insanity workout is so intense. I want to use my syns for peanut butter and nuts to help repair my body.

Any advice is greatly appreciated x
 
You need to syn the protein shakes but they're only approx 6 syns each (depending on brand) if you didn't want to use ur syns on them then eat a protein rich meal afterwards instead.
Tbh nuts are more for fuel then to repair, I try and eat a high protein low carb diet so red days suit me better. I train 3-6 times a week xx
 
Thanks hunni I'm doing extra easy at the minute so I might change to red to get more protein. The insanity programme is 6 days a week, I don't expect great losses as my body will be holding on to water. :)

If you aim to drink 3 litres a day then your body shouldn't hold onto too much...it also helps speed up repair on your muscles and eases the aches quicker xx
 
The workout is totally insane lol but very effective. It's the hardest workout I've ever done but I feel a sense of accomplishment everytime I complete a workout.

Hopefully the results will be amazing :)
 
Hey I was just searching insanity and came across this. I started this 4 days ago and finding it amazing and I also follow sw from home though I have been doing it at group for over a year :)
How far along in it are you x
 
Ah, great to see people doing the same as me, SW and Insanity!

I'm starting Insanity tonight actually (a little terrified, but excited too), I've read in a couple of places that if you don't follow the nutrition programme, you won't get results?! I'm settled into SW now, and after a quick look at the nutrition guide, it all looks a bit complicated and a lot of stuff I wouldn't necessarily like or buy...

Can anyone confirm whether this is the case? Can SW and Insanity together still give awesome results?!
 
I was recommended to drink milk after a workout as opposed to a protein shake by my kettlebells instructor. Apparently there is research that is it just as effective if not more so in aiding muscle repair when compared to protein shakes. There's also plenty of protein sources that you can get from SW free foods, cold chicken, eggs, quorn products. I'd say sod the protein shakes and get the protein from natural sources.

Good luck with Insanity. I've thought about doing it a few times but keep chickening out!!
 
I've got the DVDs (boyfriend bought me last year) and I loved it, but it's hard work!! I admire anyone who can do the full 60 days. Now I just use the fitness app on my games console which tracks you with the camera, it has a couple of the insanity workouts on and mix & match between that and a few others depending on how much time I've got/how energetic I feel!

Would love to hear how you get on though as it may spur me to start it up again :) good luck!!
