first meeting on thursday! newbie:)

i'v been looking into slimming world for a while now, & i'v finally decided to suck it up and just go for it! it looks like such a fab diet, so easy to follow, & the results people have had is amazing:) my first class is thursday, im really looking forward to it acctually, but i am slightly nervous, im not sure what really happens, just wondering if anyone could tell me what to expect? also any sw tips would be appreciated:)

I started SW yesterday morning so can't give you any tips lol.. but the meeting is all about group support. The members were individually weighed and congratulated on their weight loss. Some discussed weight gain and the possible reasons for this, and other members gave them tips how to lose this week. A slimmer of the week was announced (I think its the person who loses most two weeks in a row?), and because I was new, the group leader sat down for a 1:1 with me about how to do the plan etc. All very friendly and informal, and nobody is made to speak if they don't want to. hth! good luck x
 
The format differs slightly with each group and consultant, so if you don't click with one try another..
We've had stand in consultants when our John broke his hip in a quad bike accident and the variation on style and content ( and even venue layout ) was quite strange..
One stand in was quite miffed when we, as a group, re-arranged the chairs to their "normal" orientation after she set them out differently :)
 
all groups should be run around the same format now, I think SW had a crack down on people doing things their own way. They want the seats set out a particular way etc. Also they all have to do team fun tech.

So although consultant styles differ quite dramatically the group format shouldn't.

How are you getting on Jadeine?
I'm at my first WI on Monday so haven't been on the plan for a week yet and I'll admit I've found it quite hard! I hate cooking and the planning thing I'm awful at lol so I've just spent a lot of time this week starving and craving sugar lol. Hopefully it will show a benefit on Monday though.
This weekend will be a tester for me as we're going out for the day today and I've no idea what to eat. And tomorrow the family are down and I've no idea what to eat lol but need to be good cause WI is on mon :eek:
 
Thanks for everyone's help and info, everyones so lovely and friendly here! I'm finding it really easy to follow so far, it's only been a few days but I'm loving it! As far as meal planning, I tend to take the day as it goes really:)
Oh and good luck for your weigh in Monday muffinandsam, hope the weekend goes okay! I have the maddest sweet tooth so I'm expecting the sugar craving soon haha:)
 
jadeine, I had a sweet tooth too, cake being my main downfall. I found though after a little while my cravings really diminished to the extent I dont crave sweet thngs anymore. Fruit is my saviour now if I'm peckish. I think the first few weeks are definately the hardest, when you are adjusting to a new way of eating, and the bad habits we all had are still lurking in the background. You wil soon settle down and like I said, you will find one day that you just dont crave naughty things anymore. Oh yes, S W is the way to go. You wont look back, I promise! :):D
 
thats great, i can believe that as i'v eaten so much fruit since sw, but i must say i'm liking it! i'm a chocolate girl myself, but like you say those cravings will soon be gone hopefully, & i'm not missing it as much as i thought i would actually, i turn to a highlights or options hot chocolate if i need a chocolatey fix.
and yes, sw deffinetly does seem to be the best way to go, it just seems to good to be true though, hope my weigh in thursday goes well, if it does i'll be amazed!
 
Be ready to be amazed then! I also love chocolate, the choc options are my choc fix of an evening, also choc n fudge alpen lights. They are lovely and an HEB. As I do red and green plans I can have my cereal and the alpens, yum :)
