hi lovely people,
iam totally brand new to this form of support and discussions.i have been talked into trying slimming world as a form of weight loss. i feel iam in the correct head space to be starting this new challenge.it is wednesday and i started on monday.

my problem is iam trying my hardest to stick to the plan but feel iam eating alot.i just cant get my head around eating potatoes/pastal/ric as much as i like. i fear that this diet plan isnt going to work. iam struggling to fit everything in as i work shifts and dnt often have 3 meals aday.usually brek n some form of main meal.

can anybody support me and my concerns, iam heavier now than i have ever been and need to get a grip of the problem successfully

:sigh::wave_cry::sigh:.

Hi meerkat. I know it seems strange eating all this food plus HEXs and then syns and still loosing weight. But just tryst in the plan it really works.

Make the plan fit your life if you only usually manage breakfast and then another meal then these no reason why you can't carry on like this. So long as you get you 3rd superfree at each meal. Weigh and measure your HEXs and syns and choose predominantly superfree foods for snacks you will loose weight. Only eat till your full, not just cause you can drink plenty of water and I promise you will lose.

Be 100% on plan and you will see the rewards on the scales. And remember this is a healthy eating plan for life not a diet. This plan will help you lose weight and keep it off for life just so long as you believe in it.

Good luck!! X

browsie,
thank you so much for your support. i suppose i may just take a fee weeks to settle down with it and get my head around. i work horrid shifts and maywell struggle and i will have too force myself to remember the superfree foods, i can eat the free foods until the cows come home, but iam aware this will not work.
i understand this is a life change, not a diet.apologies.
i require my life to change, very much .

I promise it does work, I've lost every pound on slimming world extra easy. Just remember that key element, the superfree. Pasta, rice and potatoes are all very high in calories, but SW encourage you to eat them because they are filling. But you must make sure a third of the plate is superfree foods. So bulk out your dishes with lots of onions, tomatoes, mushrooms, peppers etc. it means you are eating less of the other stuff..

good luck

thank you so much for your words of encouragment,
but i think i still need a balance on the carbs freefoods.
i currently havnt goy much fruit n veg in to snack on SFF,so am struggling not to snack on FF without any SFF
I have tons of free foods in the house. thats why i dont wanna cock this up.takes a bit to get my head around.,
fantastic weight loss by the way! very inspirational

I made cous cous, with roasted pepper, spring onion, mushrooms, chilli, garlicand cherry toms.
ive been eating alot of this for lunch and i had makrel in tom sauce with it but woyld u class any of that superfood? Maybe the veg in the cous cous ?

yesterday i had some of this cous cous with a chicken fillet stuffed with extra light phili.

just feel like am eating so much that isnt really going to slim me

remember quantity isn't as important as you might think, if you balance with superfree. The peppers, spring onion, mushrooms and tomatoes are all superfree.

I find I went through a salad stage, and I got into the habit of chopping up an entire onion, bit of lettuce, tomatoes, pickled cabbage and cucumber. Makes a great tasty third.

I don't know the proportions of superfree you are putting in the cous cous, but it doesn't hurt to pad it out as much as you can.

I can absolutely confirm that it works, trust it..
My typical day when I started was...

2 or 3 eggs, scrambled for breakfast with a banana, nectarine and my HeB of alpen light bars...
Can of beans or cous cous and tuna for lunch with a couple of plums and / or an apple.
Full roast chicken dinner for tea.. ( roast potatoes, roast carrot, roast parsnip, chicken breast, cabbage, cauliflower, leeks, and sprouts or green beans with 2 syns of gravy )
HeA of milk in tea and coffee ( splash in my eggs )..
And 5-10 syns of whatever I fancied..

I lost 8lbs weeks 1 and 3..
I cut down what I ate week 2 and only lost 1lb.. so don't fall for that trap...

I've lost nearly 17st now to get to my target so it definitely works...

At 33 stone though, you could probably have eaten three entire hogs, and as long as you cooked it in fry light, still have lost weight. I bet it's a lot tougher now.

My first week I was a nervous wreck wondering if it was gonna work but so far it is despite never feeling deprived for a second- I'm in my 5th week and so far I have lost 25 lbs. I have been cooking some absolutely delicious food and sometimes I sit there eating and thinking 'no way can I possibly lose weight eating this?' But looking at it logically I can see why- at least 1/3 of my plate is superfree (usually more) and everything is low fat. Just stick at it and you will see results.

Good luck and remember this site is an invaluable source of support if you need it.

i just worry that its not going to work for me.i havnt actually joined yet as i cant attend the first meet until this coming thursday, but i borrowed my friends book and started the process last monday.according to my scales ive not lost a pound :(
so so far i havnt had a great start and ive stuck to the plan 110%.

just very dishartening when i worked at it so hard this week

Try not to use your scales at home - this can sometimes cause unnecessary worry. If you are following the plan according to the books there is no reason why you wont lose. Go to your WI with an open mind, stay for the meeting and you will not look back. Good luck

If you see it as hard work then you will give up. Eating well isn't and should never be hard work. It might not be what you want to eat but it's not hard. Running a marathon is hard - climbing a mountain is hard. Saying no pizza - really, how hard can it be?
You really have to get your head in the right place. Thousands of people can attest that SW works - for me that means buying superfree fruit and veg - lots of it. People say it's expensive but since August 30th I have only bought 2 packets of biscuits and 1 multipack of crisps - no takeaways for me, just a couple for the kids - far less bread and butter lasts forever now. I have one or two low carb meals a day - chilli with cauliflower rice or meat and salad.
I do drink alcohol one or 2 times a week - but it's now vodka rather than loads of lager or sometimes white wine (a whole bottle!) and have only had 2 weeks when I have gained & never more than 1.5 lbs and always got on plan and had a good loss the following week.
If you want it work it can and will. Good Luck.

i completly understand what your saying.... but i didnt mean to sound like am finding it hard work, i smply meant that ive put alot of effort into understanding this plan, ive filled my fridge with nothing but fruit and veg, and ive tried to ensure that iam following the plan to the letter.

I am more than ready to change my life. for the last 6 months ive been down and depressed due to a difficult break up, i have hit rock bottom and the only way is up. i feel excited about the prospect of a new me and finding a new man. I cant continue in the mind frame ive been in because i will just destroy myself.thats how i feel, and even tho my heart is still broken, i know this life change will help me feel more positive about the future.

thank you,i know i shouldnt, i just feel a pressure to start with a good loss at the beginning and was curious, only to be dissapointed. i know that i shouldnt.
i promise i wont ever do it again, thats what i will be paying to attend the meetings for!

sometimes my body takes two weeks to realise ive made a change to my regieme, i have PCOS and i know weight loss can be slow. i should know better

wow you are a true slimmer, what a huge achievment! congratulations, that is life changing.
over the years i have damaged my body through irregular eating patterns, to fit around my jobs and shift work. so a plan like this that requires regularity and a certain level of food can often feel like iam eating too much. i have often stuggled to fit 3 meals in a day, and people can moan at me and say iam not making enough effort but thats rubbish. i have never felt like i particularily eat that bad, i know the good foods from bad, iam quite educated however my irregular food habits are my draw back.

so week one of this diet and ive been eating regular healthy food and so i think my body is shocked to how much food its getting, because its used to starving over lunch and having a bad tea (in the past).

iam hoping this is the reason for the slow/no weight loss in week one.
I seriously struggle to drink alot too, just doesnt feel natural for me and i know i need to address this.

if i post this weeks diary sheet to you will you advise me if you think its missing something, or has too much, as the case maybe.
