    Slow progress

Has anyone else had very slow progress on slimming world extra easy? Tonight I went for my 5th weigh in, to find that despite sticking rigidly to it I only lost 0.5 lb. it's taken me 5 weeks to lose 5 lb. whilst I'm glad it's a move in the right direction I'm frustrated that its so slow. I have a LOT of weight to lose and this is going to take me forever at this rate! I thought ifyouwere big it'd come off quickly at the start? Starting to lose faith...thinking of giving the Cambridge diet a go in February if things don't improve. Or maybe extra easy isn't for me and I should try red or green days. What do you guys think? X

What our C tends to stress to all new members that free food is only free in moderation as many have too many free and not enough super free food! I had a different problem in the beginning as I was not having enough and therefore going to what she calls starvation mode!
Therefore you could be eating either too little or even too much once you get the balance weight will drop New Year and you'll see it will be a new you Your C should be able to analyse your food diaries or even post on here and many will help you don't give up and you'll reap the benefits!

Hi, I'm doing extra easy and the loss is slow for me because I'm awful at sticking to plan and its only when I do a food diary and force myself to really think before I scoff that I get good results. Do you do a food diary and ensure you have 1/3 superfree with every meal?

EE works for me, but only if I really stick to it by writing everything down. Otherwise I feast for 4 days then panic and eat very little for 3 days before WI just to see a small loss. And I struggle with the super free part of it

I eat big portions, always have my Hex's, and eat 15 syns a day, and I lose 1-2lb a week. As long as I stick to the plan it's steady. I've lost over 2st since May.

1-2lb a week is what to expect on SW (or WW for that matter).

You could expect much bigger losses on a VLCD such as Cambridge or Slim & Save, but it's much harder to stick to and there are more sacrifices along the way.

It's up to you really. You are losing as expected on SW - those with more to lose dont always lose quicker it depends on a lot of factors.

Sometimes if you are new it takes time to recognise what helps you lose weight and what doesnt. I also have all my hex's and between 10 to 15 syns everyday the only thing i am doing differently now compared to the beginning of my journey is having more superfree and smaller portions of free food. Everyone is different but i cant seem to get away from eating large portions of free foods and thats probably why i have massive gains when i go off plan but they do go off quick too when i stick to plan. Also for me drinking atleast 2 litres help keep my weightloss steady whereas in the beginning i was barely drinking half a litre x

jAll good advice here! Make sure you have a good 1/3rd of your plate as superfree. Snack if you need to on superfree. Try eating superspeed foods, drink more as previously stated (but not alcohol) ha ha! I myself have got to target on red and green because I really dont like veg much, but love fruit. Please plan your week and do a food diary for your consultant to see. And keep bobbing on here for advice, we are all here to help. Hope you go on OK. Let us know how things go, sending extra slim vibes for you. S W really is the way to go, and its a healthy way of losing weight

I know the feeling of being disheartened by slow progress and all I can advise is stick with it your weight will drop if you follow the plan.

My dad is around your weight and started slimming world from home about 6 weeks ago... After supervising him for 2 weeks making sure he was doing it properly he went and got weighed and was very disheartened at having lost only 1lb. I felt so bad for him as I knew he'd stuck with it 100%.

He was all for giving up but I told him no give it another couple of weeks, I also pointed out that he'd been eating really well and had never gone hungry following it yet had still lost weight and would lose more.

He's now approaching the end of week 6 and is just 1.4lbs off having lost a stone. Persevere, it's worth it.

When I feel like you do I always look at this picture to give myself a kick up the butt lol xx

    (Reposted from another Miniminer)

First, let me tell you about Gabby. Gabby is 180 pounds and would dearly love to be 130 pounds. So she joins a weight loss class and starts a diet. In the first week she loses 4 pounds. Her reaction? "Fantastic!" "At this rate, I'll be 130 pounds in 3 months or less! Yippee!"

However, in the second week she loses nothing. Her reaction? "Disaster! Panic! Help! - I'm a useless fat lump!"

But she perseveres (grudgingly) and in week three loses another 2 pounds. Her reaction? "Big deal!"

So after three weeks dieting, she has lost 6 pounds which is perfect for someone of her weight. But it's not good enough for Gabby. As far as Gabby is concerned, it's no big deal. And over the next fortnight, all her enthusiasm flies out the window. Why?

Because it has dawned on Gabby that if she continues to lose 2 pounds a week, it's going to take her 6 months to slim down to her dream size. And Gabby does not have 6 months to wait. Because Gabby is much too busy. Poor old Gabby. She refuses to accept that losing weight takes time. Unfortunately, until she changes her attitude she will never lose weight in a thousand years.

Now take Kate, another member of Gabby's weight-loss group, who is exactly the same height and weight as Gabby. She loses weight at the same speed as Gabby, but her attitude to dieting is completely different. She knows it's easy to lose weight at the start of a diet, because most of it is fluid.

So when she loses 4 pounds in week one, she doesn't rush out and celebrate. She just stays calm and carries on dieting.

Equally, when she loses nothing in week two, she doesn't panic or get depressed. She just takes it in her stride and carries on dieting.

You see, Kate isn't really bothered WHAT happens in the first few weeks. She is much more concerned about the long term. So she bides her time and carries on. In fact, she carries on dieting and gradually shedding pounds for the next 12 weeks. Result? She loses a total of 30 pounds. Then celebrates! She takes her husband's credit card on a shopping trip and buys a gorgeous red dress which makes her look ten years younger!

She wears the dress to a local wedding and guess who she meets? Gabby! The same old Gabby who didn't have the patience to spend 3 months dieting. The same old Gabby who is now even fatter. The same old Gabby who is now crammed into elasticated pants and looking tired, red-faced and distinctly uncomfortable.

After the wedding, Kate goes back on her diet. She still has weight to lose. However, the reaction of her family and friends to her new slim shape has given her a real boost. Result? She finds dieting a lot easier. After four months later she is down another 30 pounds.

Meanwhile, Gabby too has been busy. She has started and stopped several new diets. Why does she keep stopping? Because the diets are too 'slow' for her liking. Remember, Gabby does NOT have time for slow diets. She's a fast-tracker!

When I see posts like this, I always think - how fast did you gain the weight? A half pound a week? A pound a week? Or the 2-4 lb per week that you expect to lose.

It's most likely 1/2 to 1lb a week, if not 1lb per month that we gained over the years - so why do we expect it to drop off quickly?

    You have lost 5lb in 5 weeks - that's 5 "perfect pounds".

    That's my twopennorth!

I was a slow loser but stuck to plan week in week out and eventually got to target. A dripping tap still fills a bucket, the tortoise won the race! Be good to the plan and you will eventually be rewarded! If I can do it, anyone can! All it takes is commitment, motivation, and time!

Hi Phoenix, please don't give up. I'm exactly the same as you a pound or half a pound but I've now lost 1 and half stone and I feel much better. I am convinced that VLCD only work as a quick fix - I did it and quickly regained the lot plus more and got depression as well! Slimming World is fun and easy and although slow, you are changing your life and your thinking and habits about food. You will get there and you will enjoy the journey. I've still loads to lose but I'm in it for the long haul and if I did VLCD I might get to target quicker but I guarantee it would go right back on. So my advice is please stick with SW and just see it as a journey and not a race. Good luck xxx

I'm a slow loser but I think it's down to my actual weight, because I'm only slightly overweight I guess it means I lose slower because I have less to lose.
as long as the weight comes off I am happy though
everyone is different, some may lose a lot every week then others not so much xx
