    Savoury rice in a flask

    Hi,

We're travelling down to see boyfriends parents for new years in a few days, I have some chilli which I'll make some pasta for to eat on the way down while boyfriend and son eat McDonalds, the plan was to have a salad on the way back, but I know if I've been good while we're down there I'll be tempted by the festive burger, but if I have been good while we're down there why ruin it and if I haven't why add more syns?

So I was thinking I'll have my food flask on me as I will have used it for the chilli, has anyone ever cooked savoury rice in a flask? How long do you have to leave it?

My consultant mentioned putting dried pasta and whatever you wanted in a flask with boiling water and just leaving it and I suppose it should work no problem! Loving the idea of rice though!!

I read that you need to put the savoury rice in then add a bit more water than normal give it a shake and it should be ready to eat lunchtime.

Well, I put the rice in with boiling water plus a little extra as suggested. I have left it for just over 1.5 hour and its ok, not brilliant. The rice was not completely soft but certainly edible plus loads of water still remaining. The water had gone luke warm so I think my flask was a bit old and crap to be honest as the water should still be hot. Need to invest in new flask I think.

When I have soup in a food flask for work I put half a nest of dried noodles in the bottom pour the soup on top and by lunch time they are fully cooked and yummy.
