Food after a tattoo..

Ok, this is the most random question, but I am getting my 3rd (and 4th) tattoo next tuesday but last time i had a medium sized tattoo done i had to go and get a sugar/fatty food hit (i.e a hot chocolate and 2 rounds of buttery toast) cos it totally zapped my energy levels...any suggestions to what I can have from the cafe next door or take with me (but baring in mind i will be in work for 5 hours before hand and in the tattoo palor for 2/3 hours so can't bring hot flask or anything like that) that will replenish my energy without all the syns?

Why not make a half syn roulade then take piece with you in a little tub. Do u have to go to cafe? Or if u do what about cup tea (ask for skimmed milk) + wispa bar (10.5 syns so still within ur daily limit) x

My last tattoo took 3 hours, so I made sure I took stuff with me. I took HiFi Lights and a packet of low Syn crisps.

What about sugar free energy drinks? Or fruit - so high in natural sugars.

No, i could take stuff with me, just the cafe is next door. Roulade sounds like a good idea

hmm might get my colleague to get me some hifi bars when she goes group on thursday. I'm not a fan of energy drinks but if i need them for the sugar hit, it might be a good idea.

I would take a little bit of chocolate as well, maybe a freddo or something? You will need a bit of sugar to get you though, I know I also do. Make sure you eat well before you sit too.

My biggest tattoo took seven hours and I got through it on full fat coke and chocolate lol! x

I had my 6th tattoo a few weeks ago and took 2 hi-fi light bars (HEx), grapes, diet coke and a Curly Wurly (6 syns).

Good luck!

May need to replenish my curly wurly stock i think. Curly wurly, hifi bar, and 1/2 syn roulade...6.5 syns and a healthy extra, i think i can manage that haha

Hi ally, I know this is a super old thread, but I was searching through for some tattoo experiences and food, this popped up. How did you get on with it? I have tattoos but nothing serious that lasted for any more than 90 minutes, I have my first sleeve session booked october which is six hours, how did you get on with food?

I'm trying desperately to stay on plan, I've been religious with it August, as it only takes one slip for me to fall off the wagon, as I'm losing weight for the sleeve I'm trying to stay on plan as much as possible... I was thinking just saving some syns and having real sugar hits, any excuse for chocolate, clearly!

Love this thread! Hit up diet coke and take your 2 alpen light bars for your session, save 7 syns for a can of normal coke afterwards/or hit up a chocolate bar, and have something stodgy when you get home! (You know like cottage pie or something where you feel like you're being a bit naughty but actually you aren't? ) I had a leg sleeve done last month and that's how I did it! Normally I'd be basically attached to a bottle of full fat coke and hit a burger stand afterwards. Hope that was a little useful ;) And Good luck!!! What are you getting done? xx

I'm liking this thread too being a tattooed lady!
I like a sweetened cuppa when I'm being tattooed, or diet Irn Bru.

And your profile pic too Ally - hello Jaret!

Coke, of course! Yeah, I think sweet drinks and cereal bars may be the way forward, starting off with a hefty breakfast. The studio is also an hours drive away, so i may have to load the car with food.

How long did your leg take, what did you have done? My sleeve will be mostly floral, I've had many ideas over the years, but as its covering scar tissue, I decided to keep it classic 'cause I don't know if/ how much of it will blow out...

Thanks for the suggestions both

Big breakfast beforehand, cereal bar(s) during and Diet pop for after.
Good luck!
