She gets ALL of the takings from the night? I don't think so. The more members a consultant has, the larger the percentage of the takings he or she gets to keep, but a lot of it goes to SW. And the margins on sales items are very small.

Of course consultants are running a business - one could hardly expect them to work for nothing.

    And yes they do care.

I know a number of consultants, and they are always delighted when their members get to target, even though target members don't pay.

Can I just say as a current WW member our class has a shop but our class leader has never once pushed selling stuff. I've actually never bought anything at class and never felt under any kind of pressure to. The only time she's mentioned the shop to me was my first week just as part of her introduction talk and it was more in a casual 'it's there' way.

She most certainly never tries a hard sell

Re: the Haagan-Das vs WW dessert - I can't remember - did the presenter actually tell you the points for the Haagan-Das? Was it even comparable to the points in the WW dessert? Of course the ingredients would be more 'un-natural' in the WW dessert, as the nutritionist stated, if you take out something (ie, fats or sugar) then you must replace it with something else to ensure a pleasurable taste.

As for the 'reporting' - totally biased.

Of course as a business WW products would be encouraged (I'm loathed to say 'pushed' as I've never been to a WW meeting) and why not charge more for the WW branded things? The people on WW have options to eat non-WW branded foods, yet are more likely to pick WW branded things as the ProPoints are already printed on the packages.

As for this talk of your imaginary God, well..... (Let's see how many people I can upset with THAT one!!! lol)

When I went to WW, the leader had a table of WW goodies out but certainly didn't push them on us!

I couldn't agree more, Gazter. It was pure lazy journalism, using the NHS expenditure on WW to rile the excitable Daily Mail reading audience. £4million since 2007? It sounded like WW brings in much more than that to the economy & helps people eat healthier, win win.

I noticed they never mention sf and at the end of the day the reason people put the weight back on is because they are flawed not because the plan is flawed.

Utter biased non sense. Really annoyed me when the asian dietican said healthy eating and exercise is the best way to lose weight. Now you can still gain weight eating a balanced diet as you could easily eat 2000 cals during a balanced diet so you would not neccisarily lose weight unless you also reduced portion sizes and limited fat intake.

    Atleast weight watchers try.

I bet you would die sooner eating all that fat in a tub of hagen daaz than you would from the stabiliser in a wwers ice cream.

Never heard any one dying from xanthan gum but definatly have from heart diesease due to cholesterol from tons of saturated fat thay hagen daaz just happens to be full of!

Hope not as I only eat full fat cream, yoghurt, use lard for frying and butter. Don't use any low fat stuff.

That money they used on making a time wasting programme could of been spent on more important things.

But it's got everyone talking about Weight Watchers.

Now if they done one on Slimming World they would concentrate on the sugars in those cereal bars.

Actually they'd be more likely to get some dentists on to go on about how Slimming encourages you to eat unlimited fruit & it's bad for your teeth personally I'd rather have bad teeth & no heart disease thanks.

I didn't watch the programme so I won't comment on it specifically, but what I will say us the media bias against any slimming club is getting most tiresome. Do we really live in a society were people are surprised that a company are making money out of people trying to lose weight? Honestly????

And the insistence of the media that slimming clubs don't promote a healthy way of eating due to the ingredients in their own products. Grrrr. You don't HAVE to eat those things. A lot of people get by just fine eating non processed, non sweetener laden foods on both SW & WW. It's about choice!

The media needs to decide who the enemy is. Either it's fat people taking up NHS resources or the groups attempting to help them solve this problem (for a profit) - they seem to want it both ways at the moment. Maybe they are all scared that we may all be successful at this losing weigh thing & they will have to engage their brains a bit more to figure out whom they can direct their moral outrage on.
I'm doing a sponsored weight loss for the Walking with Giants Foundation. Help me out if you can!
