Number of syns?

Hi, I am on day 4 of sw and have just been having a good look around the sw website. It says you should aim for between 10 - 15 syns a day if you have between 2-3 stone to lose and maybe more if you have more to lose. I have a good 5 stone to lose and my leader told me to aim for 10 syns a day. Should I be having more than 10? Does anyone else have more than 10 a day?

I have between 5 and 15 depending on what I want to eat. I find having a range rather than a precise number makes it a lot easier to follow. I may need to have less once I'm nearer target but for now I find this works best.
 
I have between 5-15 but if I have syns left last day or two of a week I don't binge just to use them. Sew how you feel what your craving or comfy with.
I like curly wurlys in fridge for 6syns and generally use rest in cooking as I don't want my sweet tooth creeping back.
 
I have alot to lose (8 stone) so I try to use them if i can. I dont go out of my way to use them up, some days I might have only the bare 5, but most days I have between 12 and 15. My feelings on it are I dont want my body to get used to too few syns, as there may be times when my loss stalls or as I get closer to goal that I may want to give myself a boost and I think the easiest way would be to cut down on syns. But thats personal for me, its totally up to you and your own food habits and cravings!
When I started first I would use my syns on treats only, but now I have started using them on making my meals or snacks a bit more interesting.
 
Ive only 1 stone left to use (lost 2.5 stone so far) + hav better loss when I use between 10-15 a day. They are there to keep u on the straight + narrow so take each day 1 day at a time. X

Is this because your less likely to have a bad day and stick to plan or is if because of some metabolism body thing?
 
My consultant advised me to have 10 syns a day, however to be perfectly honest I have anywhere between 5-15, it all depends on what I'm eating and how I feel, but generally I do try to stick to around 10.

you need to find the right level for you, though if you have five stone to lose, the top end will be fine. Losing weight requires you to learn where your sweet spot is (which reduces the lighter you get). If you eat too much you gain, if you eat too little, you stay the same or lose at a very slow rate, getting the level just right is the tricky bit.

If you follow SW plan religiously, sticking to free and superfree foods in the correct proportions, despite stuffing yourself it is very possible to be eating nowhere near enough that your body needs to function properly, causing it to slow down.

Eating your healthy extras and syns gives you a release in eating treats, but also pushes your intake up to that sweetspot. Medical experts say that no one should have a diet of less than a 1000 calories a day without medical supervision.

If you eat your healthy extras and your syns this gives you already 540, and thats before you have eaten your free and superfree.
 
Im like most i try to have between 5-10syns a day but on the days my sweet tooth kicks in ill have the full 15 x
 
I don't have a lot to lose and I find when I cut down my syns I lose less! Like the OP said you just need to find what's right for you personally as everyone is different, I tried one week cutting down to 5 and lost lb, saved syns for weekend one week and STS and then I used between 10-15 a day and lost 3lb that week (and still went over at that the weekend!) so trial and error see what works for you :D
 
I have 3 stone left to lose and have 14-15 syns most days. Some days its less, but most days i'm nearer the max amount, doesnt effect my weight loss from what i can tell.

I guess, if you wanted more and it effects your weight loss then aim lower...if your comfy at 10 and dont want to go to 15, don't force yourself to have the extra, but if you do want the extra but find its effects loses drop back down to 10
 
I have about 1 and 1/2 stone left to lose, so i give myself 84 syns at the beginning of my 'diet week'. That works well for me.
 
I have just over a stone to lose now. I was getting really disheartened a few weeks ago as I had 3 weeks of losing 0.5lb each week and felt like the weight loss had almost stopped. When I looked at the diaries for these I was having closer to 5 syns per day (I always use syns on chocolate and gave it up for Lent so was just having less syns). The last three weeks I upped my syns to 15 a day and lost 1lb, 1lb and 2lb!!! I think it's to do with eating enough to get my metabolism going but whatever it is, eating more seems to be working for me!
