how often do you weigh yourself?

Im really trying to just stick to getting weighed at group but finding it really hard not to have a sneaky peak on my scales at home.
Which do you think works better, once a week weigh in or having a peak inbetween? X

Definitely once a week and only on the same set of scales. Your weight varies so much during the week (even during the day) and you don't want to feel disheartened if you should see a maintain or a gain, which may well rectify itself (or be a false reading on different scales) by the time you're weighed at the meeting.

Good luck - at least you sound very keen! :)

Thanks. Thats why im trying to stay off them, only a few days until i know i suppose, but may have to put the scales up to not tempt me. Yes I am keen I did slimming world before so I know it works :) x

I know it's against what everyone says but I weigh myself every day.I know my scales are 1lb more than at WI so take that into account when I weigh. I weigh myself every morning in my work uniform (that I wear to WI each week) and then again when I get home from work. It's quite motivating to see a loss and if I don't see a loss then I'll adjust my food to rectify it. Works for me :)

every day for me too. My scales are in my hallway as everyone (my family and friends) use them so as I come down in the morning I weigh

I agree! I'm a serial weigher- I weigh myself every morning...I do find it motivating though, everyones different I suppose!

Not so long ago I would have said don't do it more than once a week but somehow I have gotten into weighing daily at least twice a day in fact! But I am finding it seems to be helping me at the moment and it doesn't get me down really when there's fluctuations and I think its helping me keep on track.
So id say do what suits you best but if weighing daily upsets you and dictates your mood for the day chuck the scales out if you can 'handle' the ups and downs then there shouldn't be any harm.

At least four times a day lol scales addict!

When I was losing weight, I only used to get weighed at my SW class. I've carried that on now I'm at target because every little fluctuation would play on my mind. I only go to class once every 2 or 3 weeks as a target member and have found that weighing myself less frequently than once a week has had a positive impact.

i am a terrible serial weigher but i find it helps me stay on track and if i am a bit over then i can pull it back if i am only half way through the week. xxx everybodies scales are different though and mine fluctuate so i dont know why i bother really i think its a comfort thing.

Hi everyone, I weigh daily at the moment but Im only in my 4th week, so its giving me an idea of the food types that agree with me and those that dont. At the moment i suspect fruit is hindering my losses so im cutting it out this week and will see what difference this makes on the scales. I dont think i could wait a week to find out! ;)

Cutting out all fruit? Will you be eating veg instead then?

I used to say only do it once a week at group. Often however I'd have a sneaky peek and now I weigh myself regularly. I do find it keeps me on track, although I can understand why it might get obsessive for others and lead to sabotage.

A couple of times I've been away for a week and stuck to plan (ish!) and felt good, then found I'd gained quite a bit. Staying at home and weighing myself every day keeps me focused and I tend to lose. Home scales are often innaccurate though (mine are +2.5lb) so you'll have to get used to that and not fret. Also never (unless out of interest!) weigh yourself after a big meal - you'll probably have put on up to 1/2 stone... But as if by magic it disappears by the next morning, especially after spending that all important penny and pound ;)

I think im going to agree with serial weighers. Ive bin worrying all week cus its been totm and thought I wasnt going to lose much in my first week but if id had a sneak peak I wouldn't have worried as I had a great loss, 6lb :) so maybe it is good weighing often but only using one official weigh in. X

I weigh every morning! I find that it keeps me on track.

I weighed on Monday morning, 12.12, I'm 12.8 today (woohoo), but I'm rejoining group on Saturday to keep me focused!

Thats great capri-gal.
And thanks everyone x
