Need help - mum is 100% on plan but gaining weight, might do something drastic
My mum and I have been going to Slimming World together for a while now. Recently she has been gaining several pounds each week even though she is following the plan 100%.
I'm sure that she really is sticking to the plan and not sneaking too many syns when I'm not around. Losing weight has made such a huge difference to her self-esteem and mental health that she wouldn't do anything to risk going back how she was before. I can see how much it means to her. Plus she is diabetic and she got cataracts and other problems from eating the wrong foods, so she takes that very seriously.
She has always had this problem of feeling hungry no matter how much she eats. She constantly feels like she hasn't eaten for 12 hours, and often feels more hungry after a meal than before it. She has amazing self control and always eats reasonable portions inspite of this, but recently it has
been worse than normal. (I should point out that one week our consultant persuaded her to eat as much free and superfree food as she needed to make the hunger bearable and she had a massive gain that week.)
She went to the doctor last week and had a full medical with blood tests and all the works, and they found nothing wrong. They can't explain her excessive hunger or her weight gain.
She is desperate to get to her target. It means the world to her. She is terrified of getting "fat" again. She is becoming quite depressed and told me that she has been thinking about starving herself or making herself vomit after she eats.
Can anyone offer any advice?
