As the title says....if you feel hungry in between meals what do you snack on? I know there is fruit and veg but I am wanting something different...things that are syn free.

My OH is working 10-8's this week and we eat together, so we won't be eating our main meal till around 8.45 - 9pm all this week. I generally eat my lunch around 12 - 12.30 so as you can imagine I am peckish when I get home from work. Just wanting some snack ideas as pre slimming world I would have crisps, chocolate, toast etc to put me on....please help :)

You could try making 'crisps'? they are technically a tweak so it depends how you feel about tweaks as to if you count them as being free or not.

Personally I will have a small plate of veggie sticks with some SW coleslaw, hummous or cottage cheese, maybe a slice of ham or cooked chicken if I have some in the fridge.

cheese triangles/baby bells/ cheese strings can all be used as your HexA and make nice little snacks.

Crackers and crispbreads are low syn or some can be hexB

Soup, make your own soup thats full of superfree and have a small bowl of that. You could make a batch and freeze it in the portion size you would like. Or store it in an empty milk carton in thr fridge which makes for easy pouring.

Hi Abisaurus,

Thanks for the reply....lots of ideas there, thanks :)

I must admit I don't mind eating 'tweak' foods as long as it's not every day as I make the smash scones and class them as free. I will actually be making some smash scones tonight as my OH absolutely loves them and it will keep me busy for a while and then I can eat one when finished :)

How do you make the crisps and what do you do for flavouring please?

Another nice one is roasted chick peas. Drain, rinse and dry a tin of chick peas. put them in a bowl, spray with a bit of fry light, add whatever combo of herbs and spices you like, garlic, chilli, salty- up to you. pop them on a baking tray in a single layer and cook in the oven on about 140 for 30 minutes. A bit lengthy for a snack put totally worth it. store them in a cub or sealed bag once theyre cooked, they can be reheated in the oven for 5-10 mins if you want them warm.x.

If I eat my lunch fairly early and go to the gym after work, I often don't eat until a lot later too.

My late afternoon/early evening go to snack is always a large banana, a yoghurt and/or boiled/scrambled egg(s). These always fill me and are completely free on all plans. xx

bottle of diet pepsi and a mug shot.
Well healthy!
Less depressing than carrot sticks, and lower in fat then a pasty or something! Lol

I don't mind tweaks either, like you say if I'm not having them every night I think they're fine and they don't affect my weight loss. I use a mandolin to slice quite large potatoes super thin, dry them a bit with some kitchen paper, lie them in a single layer on a plate, spray them with fry light add seasoning (personally I like just salt and pepper, you can add vinegar by using a spray bottle with vinegar on so it doesnt make the potato too wet. then pop the plate in the microwave and cook until they look like crisps. This can vary, it just depends on your microwave (or you can put them on a tray and do them in the oven) they WILL look like your typical walkers-esque crisp, just let them keep cooking.

There is also a recipe using lasagne sheets but personally I think its weird haha.

I would say if you opt for mug shot that is a BIG snack and should really have some SF added to keep it in SW ratio :)

Mugshots, fruit, home made soups, mikados (they aren't syn free but are 0.5 syn each and are amazing for a quick chocolate fix), sweetcorn, chicken or ham slices ect. x
