Day 1 - Tips on weighing and recording?

Day 1 for me on SW and going it alone as nearest class nearly 60 mile round trip.

Would appreciate some tips on weighing/recording. Should I weigh clothes on or off?! How do I keep track of weight if on own? Is there some sort of online weigh in I can do with others as a virtual class? How should I record my menus and food diaries so I remember good meals in a few weeks?

Appreciate any advice!

You can log your meals on this thread, then you can always look back and also log your feeling of the day. I log mine online at SW too keeps me on track or I take a pic of what I've eaten on my phone x good luck....Claire

Join the thread for January challenge here too, very motivating x

Welcome! :)

I normally weigh in leggings and a vest, after getting up in the morning - mainly because my scales are downstairs and would feel weird running downstairs naked just to run back up 10 seconds later!! But really, as long as you weigh at the same time with roughly the same amount (or lack) of clothes it'll be fairly reliable.

Logging wise, you could start a diary on here, I've made myself a sticker chart, so I write down (stuck on the fridge of all places!) what I've lost each week and a running total, if it's over 1lb I get a sticker!

Good luck!

Hello and welcome! :)

I'm also doing SW from home but I try to keep as close to what it would be like weighing in at group as possible. It's up to you whether you weigh-in with or without clothes but the best thing to do would to try to keep it consistent for each weigh-in (e.g. try not to weigh in without clothes one day and then weigh in with jeans and a winter coat the next time). Personally, I weigh-in every Tuesday morning after a bathroom stop and without clothes.

I keep track of my weight using a book, although I got an iPad for Christmas so will start using that. I also update my profile on here each time I weigh in so that I can see it every time I post. I've also got a diary on here where I record what food I eat each day along with the syns and that helps to keep me on track. A manual food diary is also an excellent way to keep a record if you're on the go.

Best of luck!

Is two jam jars, 1 filled with 40 pebbles (kids painted them!) and for every lb I lose the kids will move the pebbles over to the empty jar

Thanks. I like that jam jar idea too!

Wish me luck - going to head for first weigh in (leggings and vest on!) but the result's not going to be pretty :-(

But think of the results you'll get if you stay on plan, you'll be fit and fab in no time! Good luck, let us know how you get on! :)

Bleughhhhh 14st 2. Last weight I remember being very happy at was 11st 2 so that exactly 3 stone to go. Right, better make a proper effort at this

Little steps Hun 7lb at a time x

Just think, it could have been a lot worse. And the first 7lbs normally comes off quickly, so you'll be in the 13's soon. It's just chiseling little bits away at a time!

I've restarted SW today too. I used to go to a group nearby but the consultant changed and I don't feel the new consultant is that good tbh. I've followed the plan before and got to target in March 2013...only to find myself back at square 1 today. I know the plan inside out, so give me a shout if you want to check anything.

I want to lose 2.5 stones altogether, but find it quite daunting thinking about it like that. That's why I've set myself mini targets that I can check off along the way. Try to break it down like that which will make it seem less scary. I'll be weighing in at home every Thursday. I'll be your weigh in buddy if you like? x

That would be great loulou. Sorry you are having to start from scratch again - that must be very frustrating. I suppose getting weight off if first battle, keeping it off is another one. Wish there was a magic solution!

Awch I know. It's my own fault. I have been a wee piggy recently. Had loads of stuff going on that just wasn't helping, but I'm determined to get there and stay there this time. My wee boy starts school in August and I don't want him to be embarrassed of me...at least not by my weight! Lol. Where abouts in Scotland are you? Xx

In Lanarkshire. What about you?

I have been a piggie for years so hoping this is last time I fail at dieting!

Good luck!

I'm about 5 minutes from Glasgow Airport.

I've been a SW member 5 times over the years, twice I got pregnant and the other times my head wasn't in it at all!

How have you been getting on? X

I joined a class last year but didn't take to the consultant at all. Plus 60 mile round trip to a class and sometimes I work in the evening and would have to miss.

So have joined online and (so far) my head seems in a much better place with it all - although only day 3!!!

I have now signed up to SW online. Hoping to see the graph going downwards on Fri to motivate me!

That's great you've joined up. I'm going to give it a month of going it 'alone' and if I've not lost 1/2 a stone then I'll join a group again.

How are you finding the plan this time around?

x
