Hiya,
as the title suggests, I have been really rundown the last few months and seem to be catching everything going and a few migraines chucked in for good measure.
i thought vitamins would help so I've been taking them and eating lots of fruit but it's not making any difference.

have any of you felt this way and if so what can you recommend please? Non pharmaceutical only, I've been to the dr about 6 times in 6 months and I'm no better now than when I started but am more confused/aggravated at banging my head against walls! :banghead:
xx

I went through a similar thing a few years ago and the doctors were useless, I was referred to specialists left right and centre who agreed there was something wrong but didnt know what. so they just kept stealing my blood. helpful :sigh:

I found adding lots of green and leafy things to my diet (I still have loads of broccoli and spinach) and more red meat helped (liver and kidney if you like it) I cut right down on caffeinated drinks and started drinking more water and fruit tea. Google a list of iron rich food and see if you can find any that fit in with SW? .x.x.

Thanks hunni, a few family members have recommended those Berocca thingys and also metatone (sp) tonic (the latter was my mother who doesn't like "new fangled things" lmao :p ) but I don't know if they are a quick boost as opposed to a solution.

and oh god yes to the vampires! Surprised I have any left and it didn't even go to a good cause :( it doesn't help that my doctors since they "grew and improved" I've never seen the same doctor twice! How are you supposed to have any kind of continuity when no one knows what's going on because they didn't add any notes to the system :sigh:

xx

Oh dear do NOT rely on the berrocca syyle things, theyre good and work for every once in a while but they arent a solution to your problem. its basically just like drinking a can of monster when youre knackered.

Oh god no! I never drink that kind of stuff, I didn't realise that's what they were, thought it was more of a vitamin supplement...I always moan at everyone for drinking all those energy drinks because they are lethal! Thanks for the heads up chick xx

I use them once in a while but having 2 kids or when Charlies in hospital I think its allowed (I still get the 'free from' version so its free on SW to me haha)

Have you changed anything in your diet/ lifestyle that could be attributing?

Could maybe getting more fresh air help? I know it sounds a bit backwards if you cant be bothered to go for a little walk but its one of the things I ended up doing. It got to the point where I just thought the Drs arent going to help so suck it up get your shoes on and go somewhere theres los of people just in case you pass out haha.x.x.

I got these today,

So hoping tonnes of fresh fruit will be good for me, didn't have much luck with the veg, as in couldn't find a lot of it!
Did look at vitamins but the amount of sugars in it was a tad ridiculous. One lot had sugar in 5 different forms, like calling it sucrose/fructose/sucralose/ etc makes it any different lol

Oh and some green tea ;) xx

how much fresh air / day light & exercise do you get?

I work in an Aircon'd office with no windows - was always feeling rough (as were many of my colleagues) - i've felt much felt since making a concerted effort to go to the gym, cutting out coffee (after lunch) and drinking a couple of litres of water a day whilst at my desk.

Thanks for the reply.

To be honest because I have felt so rough lately (a lot of dizzy spells and falls) I don't get out very much at all, sometimes I can go days without leaving the house, and because of the dog when I do it's never more than 2/3 hours a day.
I do drink loads of water as my painkillers cause dry mouth so at least 4 500ml bottles a day.

Hubby works in an air con office too, and they are all dropping like flies at the moment!

I feel run down quite often too..even if im getting 8-9 hrs sleep a night! I find keeping busy and active helps but then get run down!
I work part time and get out with the dog every day.
Ive been tested for thyroid and results came back ok. I take cod liver oil, multi vits and b6 and eat loads of fruit and veg...i always wonder why i feel like i do!

That sounds very familiar except I will get hubby to take the woofer out whenever I can get away with it, had physio today and he actually explained a few things that could be attributing to the rundown feeling, whether it comes to anything remains to be seen, he's sending me for acupuncture next week, that's equally exciting and terrifying lol

I have read that B12 and Zinc are very important for that energy levels/immunity levels. X

Can't offer much advice, only sympathy... hope you feel better soon. Sounds like you have some health issues being dealt with so hopefully that and the longer days will help.

I've been for blood tests over the last couple of years for general tiredness and feeling 'off' all the tiem, they found that my iron level and vit D were low but not that low. They asked if I had allergies as my immune response was high but I don't (so I'm not sure what that means, they never went into it). The first dr didn't spot that my vit D was low and they keep disagreeing on my hormonal results, so I never know who to trust and end up second guessing them and googling it for myself! It is frustrating when you don't see the same one too...

Got tested for Lyme disease as I had the rash, but that was negative too. I end up feeling like a hypochondriac.

I'm feeling somewhat better as the weight loss progresses and healthy eating continues, but I think on the whole my difficulty getting out of bed, bad skin etc are probably related to mental health issues, long-term antidepressant use and PCOS which messes with blood sugar a bit.

I too feel like they have a big sticky note on my file that says "all in her head" :(
I also have PCOS and the low iron and blood pressure that does as it pleases

Some days I would quite happily stay in bed because the loo is upstairs and I get so exhausted walking up and down them, I wish I could stay up there.

Sorry you feel this way, I really wouldn't wish it on anyone xx

I'm sharing this at the moment, feel like body is doing overtime even though I'm sleeping well. Feeling down gets in your head and then makes you feel bad about it, which then makes you not want to do anything - it really is a vicious circle and I'm so sorry you're feeling like poo. I know it's the last thing you want to do, but try going for a few little walks, I find I'll put it off because I can't be bothered and don't want to, but after coming back I do feel quite refreshed, doesn't last forever mind but a good way to catch a break from feeling awful!

I don't know whats your personal situation is, but if you work you might find that a long weekend off or away might help - I worked all over Christmas and was so busy with my weekends off that I feel like I haven't stopped and just chilled out for forever, I know taking a holiday isn't always possible, but maybe some sunshine is just what you need. Do you find you feel like this more in the winter?

I hope you feel better soon Hun.

Thanks Hun x

I do feel worse in winter but I always put it down to the cold as I have bad joints and usually in agony when it's cold.
I don't work anymore, I used to be a carer for elderly mental health patients, which was a really physically and mentally draining job and making me really ill, and luckily hubby has a really stable good job and could earn my salary by doing a couple of overtime shifts a month so I stay at home and do all the housewife stuff lol
Would love to find a job I can do from home if anyone has any ideas?!

Have a holiday to the hot (well hopefully, it was last time) in just over three weeks (yay!) so will take note of whether "I" feel better as well as my body feeling better x

A lot of people say they feel worse in winter, I think (not sure how much I believe it's true) there's an actual syndrome for people who get run-down in winter something about sunshine deficiency. Are you off somewhere lovely? Quite jealous!

Take a few days to skip the "housewife stuff!" and pamper yourself properly, see if it cheers you up, it probably wont last long term, but might just perk your up for a few days!

I thought everyone was miserable when it was cold :p

We're off to Gibraltar, it's on the south easterly edge of Spain and about a 30 min ferry from Morocco so I'm hoping for a little of the yellow stuff :D

It's our anniversary so trying to make myself feel better as last year it was New York and it was sooo cold, I had a fake smile the whole time cos I just hurt so much, told him I'm not going back unless it's summer lol. We got married on the Rock in Gib and we had stunning weather for Feb and only a couple of hours away :D xx

Fingers crossed for you and the appearance of the sunshine! Just please make sure you bring us back some! :)
