Any students doing Slimming World?

I'm 19 years old and in my first year of uni. I'm going to my first Slimming World on Wednesday and it's going to be a challenge to fit it in with studies. The cost isn't exactly student-friendly either... but ah well, worth it! Any other students doing SW?

Haha I've stocked up on frozen veg today, Iceland for the win haha! Yeah, I'm going to miss nights out... I think I'll have to save syns or something so I can go all out! Joys! Nice to know someone else has done it though :)

Yeh I saved syns, bloody problem was my weigh in day was Thursdays and our fave night out was on a weds haha! I think it's better doing SW as a student I used to take yummy pastas in for library stints when it was exam time when everyone else had to go out in the rain to find a shop and get some grotty pre made sarnie haha!

Also aldi do that super six which is helpful makes it so cheap

another tip I have, SW is all about cooking so if your in a house share and your all sitting down to tea and it takes you ages because everyone else is on their turkey twizzlers I used to batch cook one day like a curry or chilli or spag Nolan d freeze portions :) quick to get out and shove in the microwave after a long day of lectures

Haha that must have been annoying! That's true, and I especially love the idea of freezing healthy meals ready for when I want them quickly. I made a huge batch of SW chips the other night and froze them - they're even nicer than when they're fresh. :) Thanks for the tips!!

Its the perfect student diet! !

Value pasta
Beans
Mushy peas
Baked potatoes
Whoopsie/super 6 veg
Tinned veg - mushrooms potatoes & passata always a staple
Stock (whip up soup)
Rice

Think if you just cut pricey options out and keep it simple it can be cheap as you like (sub 15 a week if needed)

I'm on ww not sw but I'm a student, single mum and have to do placement aswell and I have saved a fortune so far changing my diet.

I don't think it's expensive at all just takes bit of planning and different choices.

Wow, that's so impressive! Yeah, I think it'll take a while for me to figure it all out... I know all the best deals and places to go for sweets and chocolates but not healthy stuff haha!

Just new things to buy I wouldn't think it was expensive to spend. £10 on a Chinese take away for one meal but I would think it is to spend £10 on a piece of lean steak and veg.

I'm a student too on SW, it is a little difficult but planning is key. I plan all my meals for the week so I know how much money I need to spend and I buy frozen veg which has saved me so much money, plus it lasts longer. It is possible, have faith x

I'm also a student, a mature student with two kids, its a nightmare! No time to cook healthily and even when I do they moan haha! I plan extensively, what we are all going to eat every day, not just for dinner, or else I end up just going to McDonalds/Subway etc, make pack lunches, lots of pasta, lots of chicken and lots of veg is getting me through :)

Hi!

I only started last week with first weigh in on Wednesday! It is tough going at the start, especially with changing a "fast food" diet and the restriction on alcohol but it will be worth it in the end. Besides any money you save from not drinking can go towards fruit and veggies =). I am now in my 3rd year of uni and I wish I had started SW earlier. Uni will definitely change your life in many ways but unfortunately that more than often includes your waistline! You have done the right thing by getting started though and the support in this forum looks pretty good!! Good luck :)

Just keep slimming!!

Oh man, that must be difficult - I'm glad the only other person I have to think of loves cooking and searching through the SW websites for recipes we'd like! What you're doing is soo impressive, to be admired in fact :) I have no excuses if I fail now!!

I've actually just started a joint account with the boyfriend and we sat down and calculated exactly how much we need to spend a week on food. It's worked out quite cheap now and I'm chuffed at how much fresh veg is on our weekly shopping list! Thank you!!

Weird, Im from Plymouth! Im training to be a nurse in London :)

Ooh that's awesome! It's a really lovely place. Funny though, I came here for a city feel and you're from Plymouth and went to the biggest city in London. Made me chuckle haha!
