Can I just check I am doing this right - had a gain and trying to work through it.

Every night, I mix a mullerlight with 28g of Quaker Oats Plain Porridge, the already weighed out packets that you are meant to put milk in the sachet.

Then I have it for breakfast. This is using my HEXB isnt it, so its syn free?

Thank you xx

Hi, are you def using the syn free mullers?? Also isn't a heb 35g for porridge? I know it might sound daft but my old consultant said you needed to eat the whole of your healthy extras and if not it needs to be syned. X

The Porridge Sachets aren't a HEB - you need 35g for HEB. But I doubt that it would be the reason for a weight gain alone.

its 27g apparantly, would it make more sense to weigh it out from a big bag? is there a particular brand that is recommended? thanks

it would make sense as it is MUCH cheaper. A big bag of tesco own brand porridge oats is less a than a £1 and lasts me about 6 weeks if I were to eat it daily.

I buy about 1kg of porridge oats, does'nt have to be branded shop's own is fine and weigh out the 35g recommended for the hex. Do the satchet one's not have sugar already added to them?

Yes, I've heard that before, but it isn't true. SW Online says

Do I have to eat all of my Healthy Extras or can I substitute them?Last Updated: Oct 30, 2013 11:27AM GMT
The foods listed in the Healthy Extras section help to ensure that you get everything that you need for a healthy balanced diet by providing a daily intake of foods rich in fibre and calcium, vitamins and minerals.

It won't affect your weight loss if you don't take all your Healthy Extra choices. By substituting a different product or not having all of your Healthy Extras you may reduce the amount of fibre, calcium and other minerals you eat that day.

So you're just not having quite enough if you have 27g. Doesn't mean you have to syn it. Means you could have a couple of bites of wholemeal bread, LOL. :)

This was a hot topic- some consultants are absolutely adamant that you MUST syn healthy extras if you don't eat them in their entirety. Despite it not making any logical sense. Lol.

Just to add to the variety, you can make Magic Pancakes, same as the porridge but just add a couple of spoons of sweetener & an egg & fry in FryLite, top with chopped fruit, very filling :)

On the website its 35g of porridge oats for a HEB. I buy tescos scottish porridge oats and the whole bag costs next to nothing.

I think its important to remember WHY we are given the healthy extras - to ensure we get enough calcium and fibre in our diets, both of which can aid weightloss. You don't have to have them if you don't want to, but they contain nutrients important to our weightloss and general health.

Magic porridge sounds lush, will give it a go!

Thank you all, I have the Tescos Scottish Oats and new electic kitchen scales! Does anyone know if i can still use the quaker sachets, if I mix two together to get 35g, as my HEXB? Xx

Do you eat this cold? hmmmm, not sure about that.

Dont suppose you can heat it up?
