    struggling to eat!!

    Hi, been having a rough few days after a relationship breakdown normally I am an emotional eater but the breakdown came after one of his friends was mean about me gaining my weight back.

    Its been awful and upsetting, I'm on medication for anxiety also. My last meal I had mushrooms on toast Monday lunch, nothing at all Tuesday, Wednesday I had a carrot and a mouthful or 2 of spag bol. Today I have forced myself to eat an orange for breakfast at 7am and just forced some scrambles eggs down.

    I feel awful and can't face food at all or drinking I lost 6lbs last week and worried I'm putting to much stress on my body but I can't help it. I have had 2 nights of horrible sleeps after nightmares.

    Has anyone been through something similar? Normally when I'm this upset I inhale junk food without chewing now I just can't face it.

    Hi I really feel for you it is awful when a relasionship breaks up, especially under these type of circumstances. Don't be too hard on yourself your going through a tough time. Try and keep hydrated and eat what you can. Do you have anyone you can talk to to get these feelings out of your head? x

    This sounds all too familiar! I went through a sudden, unexpected break up, and got told a vicious rumour that he broke up with me because 'I turned into a whale'. I had put on a lot of weight after being prescribed steroids after a life threatening allergic reaction, which I thought he understood. Who knows if he really said it! Anyway, I rarely ate for about a month and lost a lot of weight and just looked generally unwell. It was a scary time for my mum who was trying so hard to get me to eat. But I completely understand how you feel. You're not being stubborn and refusing to eat, your body just doesn't feel hungry! I get it, I really do.

    I can promise you this: it does get easier. And it always helps to have someone to comfort you and talk to you. I couldn't have got through it without my mum! It takes time, but it will get better. After about a month, one day something clicked and I fancied a Chinese! Mum didn't care as long as I wanted to eat and she treated me to the best Chinese takeaway I've ever had.

    While you're struggling, perhaps you could invest in some vitamins, etc. just to keep you going and to keep your energy levels from completely crashing. As said before, keep yourself hydrated and eat little and often and when you can, and recovery will come in time.

    as long as you are drinking plenty and nibbling on fruit or veg try not to put too much pressure on yourself to east when you dont want to, it will only make you feel worse.

    maybe sitting down and planning your food menu for the next week might help take your mind off things for half an hour and maybe stimulate your foodie buds.

    Daniellejwx that's awful, can't beleive you had to go through that!!! It's awful the things some people will say, especially regarding weight as people can clearly see it bothers us.

    Unfortunately I don't have a relationship with my family and my friendship with my best friend has been strained the last few months and she was really horrible so I don't know if I can forgive her. After nearly 5 years his family was my family and support network.

    I will try to keep hydrated and eat when I can, it's just the total opposite to how I would normally react.

    Will try some vitamins, not currently working at the moment which doesn't help. Will also plan my food diary and see if it works.

    Weigh in day tomorrow but don't feel like it as really feel like it's cheating. Had such a good week last week losing 6lbs as well

    Thanks happy hippo! Bright side to all this mess is I lost 7lbs this week. Although I feel like a fraud and it will probably pile back on when I start eating 100% again. Ate an Apple for breakfast xx

    Well done, 7lbs is a super result! Is that 13lbs in two weeks? If so that's quite an achievement.

    If you've not been eating much then you may put a bit back on, but that will be healthy and actually good news, as you mustn't deprive your body of nutrients for too long. Why not use the fantastic weight loss as a fresh start - if you stick to plan this week (more or less, most important is not to stress out about it, eat as much food as you feel like but prioritise superfree and free foods) then you'll probably be feeling much more healthy and ready to face the world.

    Each to their own but I find a good brisk walk and fresh air great when I'm feeling blue. With a nice glass of wine afterwards of course

    You poor thing, sounds like you're going through a rubbish time. It will get better!
    I had the same thing when I went through a very bad patch with my bf in September (he left for a couple of weeks). I never normally stop eating - I usually turn to food for comfort - but I couldn't eat, couldn't sleep, felt so fragile.
    Look after yourself as much as you can in all the ways that you can. I found it helped to buy some nice exotic fruits as I really couldn't face cooking when I felt so sick. Hope there is someone in real life you can find to chat to some time, maybe go for a bite to eat with someone when you feel a bit better, perhaps someone you haven't seen much lately and want to get in touch with again.
    Made it to target after nearly ten months on Slimming World and now working to maintain between 10st7 and 10st10, have a super healthy lifestyle, and be happy!

    7lbs is a fantastic loss! Although you feel like a fraud, and you may put a small amount back on when you start to eat normally again, try to use it as a positive and motivation to keep on going. Show the people that were mean to you about your weight the middle finger!

    Just remember - you can and are doing something about your weight. They can't do anything about the hurt they have caused, and their lack of sensitivity. You're the better person in all this no matter what.
