Pre prepare and plan, thats the best advice I could give you. And theres no reason why the food you make can't be even more tasty than the food your work mates are eating. Take lots of free and super free snacks in and a meal you have made at home. Keeps the hunger pangs away and stops the inevitable guilt of giving in to a takeaway!

And your own food will not only be nicer and better for you, but also far cheaper than a takeaway!

Take your own in, something yummy to heat up so you won't feel like you're missing out. If anyone asks and you don't want to tell them about Slimming World then just say you're saving for something so don't want to spend on takeaways

I have weetabix and milk with fruit when I'm on a night shift. It's surprisingly really refreshing in the early hours and I now think it's strange that the others have a proper meal at that hour. Getting into a routine with it is the best thing I find. With cereal, there's no prep and planning involved so it's easy peasy!

Prepare food before your shift and take plenty of snacks.

I work nights too and sometime take loads lol!

    Homemade soup in a flask
Sandwiches stuffed with loads of ham and salad.
    Sushi packs
Salad and mixed meat like chicken, ham and maybe a boiled egg etc.
Savoury rice mixed with salad and cheese.
    Fruits
    Yogurt.
Hifi bars or Alpen light bars.
Low syn snacks like crisps, pink and white wafers, mini chocolate bars.

I work shifts too, I've become quite partial to fruit and yogurt just fill a tupper full of a variety of cut up fruit that's quite filling. If I have time in the house before work I may have a meal and then just bring fruit to snack on and jelly that's my other new favourite. I feel like I'm eating all the time but it's all free or super free. Beans on toast or a jacket and beans or I bring the low syn ravioli.

Glad I found this thread! I'm a nurse and about to start my first lots of night shifts (5 weeks) in my new job. I notoriously get very bloated and my metabolism seems to just stop on night shifts and am worried about messing my system up. I hear people say to try not to eat past midnight to keep your body system in sync but this seems impossible for me! I also quite often can feel nauseous in the middle of the night due to tiredness, and ideas?

Welcome Missneen! I do try not to eat after my 1am porridge and it's easy enough to be honest as we get so busy after that. It's the 11pm 'tea break' that's the problem!

Out of curiosity, what do you all do? I am a care assistant in a nursing home x

I'm a nurse on a challenging behaviour unit, so we don't really get breaks, you just tend to grab 10 mins where you can! I figured if I just take loads of fruit and a couple of hard boiled eggs in then it'll stop me reaching for the bourbons that are hiding in the kitchen!

Im a nurse on a busy children's oncology ward. On days we sometimes don't get breaks so I bring fruit in tubs so when I walk past I can just grab some and carry on. It was the worst just after Christmas as there was always conveniently a big open box of chocolates next to my fruit!
