Spinach - Does it count as a 1/3 superfree if it has wilted?
Silly question I know but I have been thinking about spinach and I have been using about half a large bag with each meal but then when it wilts, there isn't much there.
That is no problem for me as I enjoy the taste more when it has wilted, but will this count as a third super free?
Please let me know your thoughts
I wonder about this too - same with mushrooms which shrink a lot! I think really you're supposed to ensure that 1/3 of your plate is full of superfree. So that would be in the finished form when you're about to eat it. Bulk matters and spinach loses a lot of water in cooking, which reduces the bulk. Annoying isn't it! I often chop a load of veg thinking it'll be plenty and it always shrinks whereas pasta/rice etc grow...

I'm sure it's fine! Half a bag is a lot so I doubt anyone is going to say you need to use a whole bag each time! It's all about controlling your free food so you don't overfill your plate, so even if the spinach has wilted just don't overfill the plate still and it's fine
Thank you for the advice, I feel like im cheating but I love cooked/wilted spinach and I have it most days. I don't want to be cheating but it is more than 1/3 if not half a plate before being cooked!
It's a good idea to eat other veg as well. I like to vary vegetables as much as possible.
