Extra Easy Feeling sorry for myself :(

I love the slimming world extra easy plan and cope fine with it until it comes to needing to eat while out and about. I normally end up not eating as think I'll grab something at home, get home starving then want to eat everything!

My boyfriend & I went shopping today and it came to dinner time and we were surrounded by Frankie & Bennys, Ask, nandos, TGI Friday, you know all the yummy places! Had nandos as a treat yesterday so didn't want it two days in a row.

This is when I start feeling sorry for myself that I can't eat at these places as on a diet :( Well I know I can but just have to make smart choices but difficult when everywhere is bread and creamy pastas.

Anyone else feel this way or is it just me being grumpy?

I've only been doing SW for 3 weeks and I'm much the same. Particularly because my son loves to bake. It is so hard resisting! We made a lovely gooey flapjack last week and I instead made a SW alternative.. it hit the spot but it wasn't the same. I have promised myself that when I get to a stone I will allow myself to eat out somewhere and eat what I feel like eating.. though I'm not sure that's such a good idea. X

Glad I'm not the only one newlou.

I'm on week 3 too, for some reason this seems to be a tough week. I've got a few family events eating out coming up too so it's going to be all about making smart choices! I can do this! I think... Haha.

Your best bet is to look up as many places you like as possible, and work out what you can have. You can get a whole meal as Nandos for 6.5 Syns, free if you substitute rice for salad, but there are totally things you can eat! I'm a sucker for this too, because honestly I don't get the point in going out and paying to eat something I only half want, but we all have to get our heads around it.

The good thing is you've said you're coping fine when you're not out, which is fantastic! I definitely struggled! What are your favorite places? maybe we can try and help you out if you let us know what you'd be tempted by! :)

This is so me! I took my boyfriend out for a meal for his birthday the other day & the pub did sw meals which was great as I had syn free chicken, rice & salad, but I what I really wanted was the pulled pork burger with chips & onions rings which he was having!! I felt like I could have stayed at home & eaten the same meal and it would have been cheaper. So I sulked a bit then had a yummy Options hot chocolate for 1.5syns when I got home which made me feel better. Haha.

Luckily Nandos is my favourite place to eat out so it is good that I can have a scrummy meal for a few syns.

What do you go for when you go out, other than a salad?

There are some good choices to be made at frankie and bennys too. You could get a burger, leave the bun and have it with side salad (minus the dressing) instead of chips. Also the bacon steaks are a SW friendly choice. Anywhere that does steak or chicken or breakfasts are good choices. Its all about looking at the whole menu rather than thinking about what you would have had pre-SW

Failing that go to a green grocers and buy some fruit to munch on, sushi is a helthy option, sandwich ham. Or if you know youre going to be out all day pack a salad and have a picnic :)

I never thought about those choices at f&b next time we will just have to choose a place then I will just have to study the menu & choose the best option for me :)

Unfortunately, I'm bad at taking my own advice, so I don't really do "out" much at the moment! Though the last place we went to actually did have the most delicious salad I've ever had - if there's any "Vintage inn"'s near you I'd really recommend it. But tend to go for meat with a bit of a treat, I'll save my Syns for chips, but pair it with some superfree salad and a steak or gammon for example.

I think, not 100% sure though, that some of the Pasta dishes at F&B's aren't too bad, you just allow some syns for oil and sugar used in cooking. Remember you can always ask to substitute things on a menu!

TGI do a nice Ceaser salad, or really nice steak! Choose jackets over chips as they'll be better.

There must be something about week three!

I am doing SW alone at home and I am really really struggling today. I have been sat at my desk trying to work when ALL I can think about is food! I have had my breakfast and lunch (inc 5 syns) and even though I know I'm not, I feel like I'm starving!

It doesn't help that I know hubby is out tonight and I really want a nice glass of wine :(

I want to go home and cook something that is SW friendly but feels naughty. Any advise or ideas welcomed with open arms.

Feeling very sorry for myself.

Hi Caroline,

Is there anything naughty specifically you fancy? You could create something similar? I know when my OH's out I always fancy Chinese and ice cream, so make up own rice and chips and chow mein and just splash out on a sauce from the actual chinese.

week 3 does seem to be a tough one, my manager was on week 3 last week and she was craving wine when she is meant to be having a dry January. Only 3 days until week 3 is over for me!

A dish I'm saving for when I want something naughty but sw friendly is the sw KFC using smash and chip spice, it's meant to be lovely!

I don't normally do going out either but January has 2 birthdays within a week of each other!

I did a google for Vintage Inn and there are 2 within 15miles which isn't bad. Will give that place a go next time I'm round there :) thanks for the tip!

This is the first week ive struggled too and been at it 10weeks. Must be something in the air. Lol lets get past it and see great losses!

Hi, Thanks for message. Had an early night last night as I was annoying myself!

Settled for the SW Burmese curry which hit the spot enough.
It's been a really hectic and hard week at work so it's a large glass of wine I am craving! Or a bottle lol.

Weigh in this morning and lost 1lb so I guess the hard slog is worth it.

1lb is great! Well done! If you really fancy a treat and have enough Syns, Cape Wine is 12 Syns for the whole bottle - not that I'd recommended drinking the whole bottle, but you could easily have a low Syn glass!

Hi Don't be afraid to ask them to change things on the menu. So if I have a steak and I'm in a place that does jackets then I ask them to swap. If not Ill ask for extra salad instead of the chips. Get any dressings / sauces on the side. That way you can have a little dip without going over board. I have even asked for my side of veg to be cooked without oil. Most places are happy to help. I harldy ever have a meal off a menu as it should be I always mixed two or three to get exactly what I want!!!
